1. Would you ship it?
2.
Not ill, but you should be ashamed of yourself. Three basses doesn't even get close to the minimum required - you need at least seven basses and around five or six amps. Now go away and get yourself sorted.
only 7??! I will not rest till I own 16 basses (I figure I need 4x4 4 strings)
3. never! .96 delrin Dunlops FTW
4. Bullet in the head by Rage I know it flawlessly but no matter how many times I play it I religious bum at least one of the picked double notes winds me up
5. Bloody Hell. Cheap as Chips
6. I have gone through huge periods of not picking up my bass. Which is probably why I'm not very good! I never see myself outside this industry though, I guess its different when you basically have to pick up a bass or two a day. It's been a crutch for me at times making music, I have got through some bad times with a bass in my hands, I have thrown one around and busted a neck while angry and angsty on stage. And its created some of the best times I have ever had. I hope my kids (if I have some) express an interest in playing some day, I would love them to know that a piece of wood with a few strands of metal can not only be there for the good times but can push you through the bad ones. My basses are like the best friends I could ever have, they just sit there. Other than a quick tune every now and then and some new strings they never ask me for anything, they are content to wait with no attention but the moment I need them they are there, ready to go. /emo
7. Got another email last night about >---< that close to final quote, looks like I might not be able to order to thing till June 15th (BIG payday!) But once I got 100% quote and made decision I shall post specs!
8.
These players really annoy me. It's just another way of hitting the string. If you adopt that sort of attitude you're just limiting yourself as a player and the tones you can access. I try and maintain a certain standard with all playing techniques, so if they're called for I can whip em out. It's also fun to play differently sometimes.
+1 I bet Bootsy or Jaco could rock out with a pick just as hard as with their fingers
9. I often use a pick, can be a real subject of contention to some bass players though. Personally I use a pick most of the time and use my fingers occasionally, in fact I only started finger style as an extra tool. Now I find im equally good at both but still pick up a pick (!) 80% of the time
10. Ok here is mine - Washburn XB120; Got in year 2000 still have it although neck is trashed and its plastered in stickers! Fender MIM Jazz; 16th Birthday present from the Rentals in 2003, Sold 5 years later and regretted it ever since Fender CIJ 57' reissue P; Got it in 2006. Will never sell it absolute stunner, my first foray into modding etc with the pickup and ashtray cover MusicMan Stingray; Got this in 2008. 21st birthday present Stunning bass will never leave me RockBass Corvette Premium 5; Got it 2 months back, my first 5 string Looking at that list I have had 2 big ticket basses for birthdays. Bonus of having a dad who is a guitar nut I guess. I feel very humbled and fortuanate to have got them.

Fleabass

At Frankfurt they had these in a whole bunch of other colours - Pink with white plate Silver with black plate White with black plate. Didnt play them but walked past countless times, not sure if they were new models or just for the show. Theres nothing on their site or online generally about new models at the moment
12.
My Boss tuner dying after 20+ years is what prompted me!
Good call, it must be a magical thing to see a Boss tuner die after all those years. It needs to go in a box and be kept
13. It's a great tuner and a very clever bit of kit but it is going to take something incredible to stop me from using a TU-2
14. I think a £150 pound bass will always be better than a Vintage bass In fact I dislike fretking as well!
15. I for one want to say im hoping this is the begining of an amazing scam attempt! I would love a scam to lead back to this as a first post! But seriously welcome aboard! (nautical pun intended!)
16. Wow, thats all I'm going to say add me to the list of people who are interested if you wake up tomorow and its suddenly a lefty!
17. CIJ ftw. Never held a better fender (except wierdly enough my MIM Jazz from the one that got away thread!) in my life!
18. correct, majority of broad spacing only occurs on broad neck basses
19. Im genuinely glad i made this thread now It's awesome reading where everyone came from
20. Sold a Fender MIM Jazz when I went to uni about 5 years back Standard bass except I changed the Bridge for a Badass II. I miss it every day. It was my first 'expensive' bass. I found the guy I sold it too a few weeks back and offered to buy it back, he said no way he prefered it to his Zon Still have the serial number though, everytime I see a Lefty Fender J for sale I check it out but still not found one close. If I came into a large sum of money I would get 10 grand cash find the guy I sold it to and buy it back over any Custom Shop instrument
21. Im still gutted guitar emporium has gone
22.
Framus Semi Acoustic Bass. Selmer Treble and Bass 50 amp. Not a clue what I paid - it was in 1969, so probably not alot. Both long gone.
Those old Framus are quite collectable now
23. I guess another option is Warmoth? You could buy the body and neck you want routed etc and put it together, although I heard mixed reviews on their stuff, a guy I know has a Warmoth Strat he put together and its awesome, easily as good as a US Fender just made up exactly how he wants it (3 humbuckers believe it or not!) Other people say the necks are always too fat.
24.
Hi, Okay - looks like I'll struggle to find such a thing. How about: 4string Passive Wide P-neck J pups Basically, a Fender J-bass with a P-neck? Steve
Mark Hoppus bass and add a J p/up blend and tone control?
25. Agreed Squier all the way! I'm sorry but Vintage are just not good instruments Despite what the reviews might keep claiming recently (in the same mags that also have 5 or 6 Vintage ad's that month...... )
