7.
I get people going Oooooooh because I play a 2007 StingRay :-) (no one knows what the Overwater is)
This could start a whole new thread! It is really wierd the way people respond to certain instruments, I have had more people lusting over my 57 CIJ fender than the bassist in the other bands GB spitfire!
8.
Angelina Jolie?
We don't want her. And take Madonna back if your going
9. I have a behringer Limiter/enhancer pedal which is gathering dust. Limiters are something I think a lot of people wonder about but tends to be low on the priorities list so I thought I could send it out to do the rounds round BC so people can try it out see if they want to delve into limiting or enhancing properly. http://www.gak.co.uk/en/behringer-ble-100-...er-enhancer/964 Thats the pedal, I reckon 3 quid ish to post it. keep it for a week or 2 then send it on. Anyone interested?
10. That colour is amazing! If only she were backwards!
11.
It's possible to purchase for investment and use it, too...
I agree however I refer to investors like you see in some vintage specialists, don't play, won't learn! But they just got a 50 grand bonus and shares are still too risky. EDIT: No offence intended to any vintage guitar store, everyone I have ever visited has been fantastic
12. I'm going to check my 2p into this one. I believe the current vintage market is slighty crazy to say the least. I'll concentrate on Fender as I think almost everyone will understand the terms of reference. I am pretty appaled by the asking prices for some of the old instruments, I have a sneaking suspicion more '70's' Fenders exist now than ever actually left the factory in the whole decade. I am lucky enough to have held a 57' precision and played it and do you know what? It felt like exactly what it was a 50 year old bass that might crap out any second. I also hate investment purchasing. To me a bass is a tool. It has a soul in the wood and its purpose is to be played. I hate to think of the 50's Fenders in climate controlled vaults just there waiting to be sold on again. I do accept that certain examples must be preserved in museums as a way to honor the traditions but not in a vault never being played. All instrument should be played and played and played and when it breaks you fix it again and again until eventually it breathes its last. That is the purpose of the thing. A ding should not upset you it should be a story, a broken bridge should be in the bin and a new one on not spending 500 quid for a original bridge from the same year. It should end up looking nothing like it did at birth and every change should be a story that makes you smile. Deep down I wonder if my 2007 Fender P will in 50 years be worth 10k if I put it under the bed in a case. But I won't! I will play it till it dies and If I dont finish the job hopefully I can pass it on to someone who will. Is it like really old guitars now? You can get a 70 year old acoustic with just as much provenance as a 50s fender for 200 quid becuase people have realised they are just old guitars. in 50 years will a 07 Fender be worth thousands and a 50's woth next to nothing?
13. Glitter gold! DO IT!!
14. Yeh I noticed the wood issue. I'm wondering if basswood is just a mistranslation of a wood used to make basses as opposed to actual basswood
15. I used to be of the school of thought stingray was an improvement over the P however owning one of each I have found myself picking up the Fender far more often. The stingray is great and incredibly versitile, in fact whenever I record I pick the Stringray up for this very reason! But for live work and rehearsal its the P all the way. Having said that I think the Stingray (A 2008) has one of the easiest necks to play I have ever held, perhaps not the best neck but certainly the easiest. Of course to experienced ears im sure people could tell the difference instantly. Only real advice is go to a good store with wide range of stock, and try them both. Maybe something else! When I bought my P I went out heart set on a EB3 and when I got the MM I went to buy a ricky! both times I found a better instrument for my hands!
16. Well im really interested in Aguilar at the moment But make me an offer. I would be willing to take a niceish 410 and some money. I basically need a bit of cash for a bill and dont want to be without a cab, so either it sells and I buy something cheaper (maybe another Ampeg b410) or someone offers me something and a few bits of paper with the queens face on! PM me if you got summit
17. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Electric-Violin-Bass...=item518e19160f Le Marquis NY? I fancied a violin for a while just as a bit of a toy and something to hang on the wall. For that money it aint gonna be a stunner but anyone used/heard about them before. Just plain average will be ok. EDIT! Oh and I have noticed the pictures wrong as well, i'll ask for a proper one if I bid!
18. The one place this would really work nowadays is Japan. 2x USA fender out 2x Jap fender in. The USA's are massively overpriced out there I heard so you would profit taking them and the Jap instruments are considerable cheaper in Japan than UK
19. Im dubious about this, I honestly dont see the neck being strong enough to hold the tension. Will work fine for a time but eventually its going to really mess it up. Having said that its still a fantasticly original undertaking and I wish you the best of luck!
20. It really is a great budget! Im just flicking through thomann and am awestruck at what a grand will buy you

22. 2nd hand Warwicks are a good place to be right now. For your budget you could get a real stonker. Plenty of growly middle and personally I think the Corvette $$ has an insanse amount of low end
23. are you sure its not the amp? Or possibly something in the room? do you have your mobile phone in your pocket when you play?
24. I have considered worn Fender out real vintage in although the idea of taking Love Rock out Les Paul in appeals to me more
25. Like a rocket to the moon I say BUMP!
