It could be dirt / dust etc building up on the pickup stopping it resonate

I think it is all down to groove and feel . Im afraid i have no words or idea on how to explain it or how to play it in a technical way............. But I think it is all about being relaxed , listening , feel , groove & emotion and getting those things into your playing
