  1. Hi all, Up for grabs is my Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1UW drum machine, in very good nick. It was bought in preparation for a musical project which ended up going in another direction, so it’s never been taken out and gigged. As I’m expecting a new arrival in the family in the next few months it’s sadly got to go, and I thought I’d offer it up here for a better price before Reverb etc. in case anyone was interested. For those of you into electronic music, you know what this can do and how deep it is - deeper than I could really fathom to be honest! I’m looking for £900 - no trades please. You’re welcome to come and try it out in Sowerby Bridge, tea and ginger nuts available on request. I’d prefer collection if possible, but am willing to meet a couple of hours’ drive away for petrol money. I would be hesitant to ship as have never sent something so dear before, but would be willing to consider it as a last resort at buyer’s expense. Cheers!
  2. Not what I expected even from a class AB SVT given their reputation, but fair enough!
  3. Nice rig. Out of curiosity what does the Origin SV get you that the III doesn’t? On the face of it, it seems like putting an SVT simulator into an SVT would be redundant.
  4. Is this a Custom Shop special? Edit: Come to think of it, maybe the title should have been ‘Fender Incision’ but in the moment I just wasn’t quick enough!
  5. I think the general consensus is that it’s enjoyably shite. Who wouldn’t want to see Geddy’s turbo mullet zooming around their TV screen in front of a stock background?
  6. I wisely gave it a miss, but my parents went to see Dylan at the Albert Hall about 10 years ago when he was in his crooner phase. They told me that you haven’t lived until you’ve heard Animal from the Muppets croak his way through ‘Autumn Leaves’.
  7. I don’t think I am in terms of bass playing, there must be thousands of Mike Mills impersonators out there. The band dynamic though is a bit more interesting - once that changes in an originals outfit there’s no guarantee it will return to something as good as it is now. Hopefully that means my spot is secure for a little while longer, at least.
  8. Sebastien Tellier - La Ritournelle https://youtu.be/watch?v=crblDrrcunQ
  9. T-Rex - Cosmic Dancer youtube.com/watch?v=524swxaTJ1c
  10. I love Zeppelin, but boy did they do some clunkers especially as time wore on. The Crunge and Dancing Days off Houses of the Holy, the entire last side of Physical Graffitti, and let’s not mention their last couple of albums…
  11. Just learning this one for fun. Colin Moulding wrote a lot of good basslines in XTC, but I think this is one of his best.
  12. So far I’ve been liking them a lot!
  13. An actual Echorec is pretty stiff competition!
  14. Delicious plate of wiring spaghetti
  15. There is definitely some variation in the power supply in the UK; friend of mine lives just down the road from a substation and gear that worked perfectly well and quietly for me was forever buzzing and occasionally going wrong at his. The venue in question was a portakabin-esque place of dubious permanence. There were 3 or 4 bands on the bill, all of whom had their amps going from a single socket and all of whom left them turned on while we soundchecked. The guitar player had similar issues with his amp until we persuaded the other bands to turn their amps off until they got on stage - I believe his amp later had to have some tubes replaced. Mine started fluctuating in volume during that soundcheck and kept doing it from that moment on - that’s why I suspected it was something to do with the power supply.
