1. A bump for a great bass.
2. Bet that sounds superb, I have the DE signature bass with Seymour Duncan pups and it sounds great - I replaced the metal pickguard with a tortoise shell one and it looks luuurvley.
3. Would be open to offers too for this.
4. I wasn't disagreeing with you Pete!
5.
Are you saying "if it's cheap it's ugly"? Aesthetically pleasing instruments don't have to be expensive.
No. What I am saying is a custom bass could play well but also be a good looking bass. If the buyer wants the bass to "look" nicer (better woods, hardware, LED's etc.), then you'll have to pay more. This is not to say cheaper custom basses are horrible to look at - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
6.
I'd rather have both.
Then that is why you would pay more.
7.
I didn't. Just looked at that black bass he's built. I think the chrome hardware puts me off a bit, but I see black hardware is available. It also looks a bit too basic but that might just be the black finish, I've never bought a black bass and maybe that's why. I'll be interested to see how his other body shapes look with the pared-down features.
The whole point of the Graft basses is that they focus more on the playability than the aesthetics and this saves cost. I know I'd rather have a well made playable bass than a bass that just looks pretty.
8.
I have one of these with the same spec. and they are brilliant. £725 isn't just fair Tom, it's a steal on the price of new You must be gutted to part with this mate Andy
Thanks mate. It is a truly brilliant instrument and somone could get themselves a bargain.
9. Bump.
10. It kills me to do this but since I am skint and need a car...up for sale is my Overwater Perception which I have had since April this year. It is in absolute mint condition and everyone who has played an Overwater will know how good the EQ is on these things. The bass has been properly set-up too so plays like a dream. Pics: The bass comes with a hardcase and I am looking for £725 which I think is very fair. I am in Coventry and the bass can either be picked up or delivered for £20. No trades please. Tom EDIT: A bit more info about the bass, made of swamp ash, bolt on, chrome hadware, 34'' scale and a 3 band EQ system.
11. Carousel - 'nuff said!
12. Great seller and a great bass. No way was that bass getting damaged!
13. Defo. rock or metal. You can tell because no one is smiling.
14.
I was using a £3.5K bass through a reasonably good Peavey rig like he could do any better. Tw*t.
The Fodera was worth it then. Easy.
15.
Did I mention you specifically..?
Are you trying to have an argument on purpose? I'd rather not discuss it on a public forum, please PM me if you have a problem.
16. Won't he just come back again in 6 months and the exact same thing will happen? Didn't this happen on Bassworld too?
17. No Fodera could dial in the signature tone of an Encore Argos bass.
18.
Conversely: Some people who have said boutique basses are stupid and definitely not worth the money, others would say are inverse snobs.
Shame I don't fall into that category then seeing as I play an Overwater.
19. Seeing as my comment sparked this thread I'll just say this - Some people who have said boutique basses are worth the money, others would say are brand snobs.
20. I'd agree with the Tour heads being a little underpowered (Owning the Tour 450 myself) but I also think the Pro Fet heads are also underpowered. My Tour 450 has had no problems and I've had it for over a year now. I know some people say the Tour heads sound a bit 'sterile' but I can't seem to find any of the sterileness. BGM agree too - they just gave the Tour heads an excellent review in the latest issue.
21. Pretty sure it's Stagg.
22. Definately more cheaper bass reviews - what's a young kid learning to play the bass gonna think when he picks up an issue of BGM and see's £3k + basses in there? There are loads of basses under a grand that outperform "boutique" basses.
23. You learnt the bass before moving onto guitar.
24. I have the Tour 450 and it's a good head. I wouldn't say it's generic sounding like some of the people above and the clip light does come on a bit too early but apart from that, it's a very versatile head. Go for it.
25. Out of those heads listed above, the Peavey is by far the best. I own the Tour 450 and it is a really good head, underated IMO. If you can, look to buy a BFM Omni cab in the For Sale section. I use an Omni 10 with my head and it sounds great.
