  1. Beautiful... just off to buy a scratch card
  2. I haven’t worn these myself, but our drummer swears by the plugs he has, made by Elacin - https://www.elacin.com - he had his moulded to his ears like a hearing aid with -9 db filters. He got them through Hidden Hearing - he has had them for ten years, but reckons there are probably cheaper options out there these days

I can confirm Elacin protection is great, I do use 15 dB filters though.

Elacin are made by Etymotic Research, probably one of the first companies to make "filtered" ear plugs that were actually any good as well as near-flat response in-ear earphones.

If you buy ear plugs by companies such as 'Hearos' - they are also Etymotic Research products - indeed, the give away is that the product name usually starts ER. i.e. ER25 would be a 25dB attenuation plug. I used the moulded models for years until I lost one!

Your alternatives include ACS who also make filtered moulded ear plugs and they are available in the UK for a good price. Even better if you buy them through Musician's Union https://musiciansunion.org.uk/membership-benefits/musicians-hearing-health-scheme under their Musicians' Hearing Health Scheme.

  3. Cheers guys... just got a renewal notice that made my brain spin so appreciate the input
  4. Anyone got any recommendations for good insurance peeps to cover your gear?
  5. If ever there was an argument for a little cosmetic surgery... this might be it. This looks stunning a brings a whole new dimension to what is a classic (and awesome) bass.
  6. Think I bought one from Stu at Curly music in around 86… beautiful things
  7. The build quality on these early Matsumoku basses is generally top notch - and for this price, in this condition, feels like it would be a great purchase. Good luck with the sale
  8. This feedback is a little overdue - mainly because being a bit of a luddite I didn’t know how to post it. So - Shaggy - top bloke, genuine and friendly, makes a good cuppa. What started as an interest in his Trace set up ended up in a rather impulse purchase of his Mesa Titan. No hard sell, just a truly inspired bit of a recommendation from him, and one I have never regretted. The size (and weight) of the purchase warranted a van and a trip to Wales but well worth it for the warm welcome and fine Welsh cuppa. Very easy to deal with and a really lovely fella.
  9. I was lucky enough to get my hands on Steves delightful fretless Musicman Stingray - top bloke - really easy to deal with and the bass is exactly as described, (and came so well packed and looked after you could still smell the vague scent of his Old Spice on the box). Highly recommend Steve - and watch this space, I believe there might be a few more tasty options on a bass forum near you in the near future. Cheers Steve
  10. I would make a quip about it perhaps not being the best player, but as a bluenose myself there’s a limit to what one might say in the pursuit of decent humour…
  11. Love it - one in red, one in blue - how to keep both sides of a city happy... GLWTS
  12. I know very little about ACG basses, but as far as good looks go, this is very very attractive...
  13. Does it come with a decorator to paint the fireplace in matching colour scheme? Stunning bass, irrespective of the levels of contrast in the pics….
  14. Stunning looking instrument, GLWTS
  15. Never tried one either, but looks like he’s quite an expensive date...
