  1. Hope you all are doing well. So, I’ve played full scale basses since i started playing bass almost thirty years ago- only now, with the purchase of a JMJ last year, i‘ve become a vocal fan of what short-scales bring to the table. Also, I’m not the biggest fella, so with a short scale i actually feel in proportion with my instrument for once! My shorties are a ‘78 Musicmaster and a JMJ- that’s a ‘66 Precision sat in the middle. The JMJ was modified with a Serek B90 for a time, but i’ve since switched it back to stock while i consider if i want to part with it. All i really need/ want is the Precision and the Musicmaster. The JMJ feels excessive, but i thought it’d be nice to show off in the mean time! The eagle-eyed amongst you might notice the B90 isn’t in the original Mustang pickup position- this is because i shifted it back a little toward the bridge to place it in a 30” scale proportioned P bass position. This made it a bit less tubby, more lean sounding. It was also super responsive to picking position- changing position had a much more noticeable affect on the tone than i ever experienced in the original Mustang position. I might be talking myself into restoring the mod, haha.
  2. @Hazza2004 I saw your post about looking for a black JMJ.. OP, it looks like a cracker!
  3. I too live in… Hove actually 😂 lovely to make your acquaintance! The Hovarian plot, reaps its latest victim. You’ll move to hove actually, eventually!
  4. Thanks, i was lucky to get a lot of support from my parents with art and music. My first bass was at ten years. It was a Yamaha, full scale, PJ pups. Looked ridiculous on me, skinny little hobbit of a kid! Was predictably wrestling with carpal tunnel within a couple of years! 😂
  5. Hi folks, long time lurker, first time poster. Just a wee introduction to kick things off! i’m an artist in his 30s living in Brighton, UK. Been playing bass for 25 years and have played in all sorts of bands; soul, funk, jazz, punk, metal, post hardcore, classical, you name it. I’ve been through a lot of gear over years and relatively know my way around it, but now that i’m not playing in a band at the moment so the gearlist has shrunk dramatically! I play on a Fender P, J and Mustang, all with flats. I’ve a simple pedal board with a Tuner, Compressor and OD/Fuzz. I’m just using a little Vox guitar amp at home. Favourite stuff to listen to and play right now is Vulfpeck, Menahan Street Band, Thee Sacred Souls, Stevie Wonder, NHOP, JJ, Carol Kay, Pino, etc- not reinventing any wheels by any stretch of the imagination. Feel > Flash, my Victor Wooten wannabe days are behind me 🤷‍♂️😂 Lovely to meet you all in advance!
