1. Brought a Stingray back from America a few weeks ago in its original case and it survived the trip in the hold just fine, it was still in tune let alone damaged in any way (the only scuffs were on the fragile stickers that they put on it when i checked it) but still working on getting a flight case just for my own peace of mind (its a long flight as it is with out worrying about, did it get changed to the correct connecting flight? is it OK ? etc)
2. This is a nice comprimise if you dont fancy fitting straplocks (or dont like bottle washers an duct tape )
3. Yeah watching it myself! Pino with is fretless nice and various other interesting 80s bass lines) glad i switched over now.
4.
Nah, if you want ghetto straplocks the rubber bits from Grolsch bottles are the way to go.
Perfect answer
5. For £52 NEW you wont do much better than that, but keep in mind secondhand stuff, you never no what might/will come up .
6.
wow. I didnt see that the first time. I'm not a MASSIVE fan of the looks though.. and I'm looking to do jazzy kinda bass. And collection isnt possible. I have a question about the Vox Amplug thing.. My dad is telling me that if I were to use that connected to my speakers, they would probably be messed up by the bass.. As in the speakers not being able to handle them. Is this true? I think my speakers are 30w with a subwoofer.
It wont do them a lot of good or even sound that great, lets put it like that. (i don't no the technical info but its a bit like putting a Bass through a Guitar amp, you will end up killing it) Set yourself a limit (i.e £50) an keep your eyes open in the for sale pages on here, ebay, or even your local cash converters, there are some cheep bargains to be had in there an all).
7.
Mate, your best off getting some sort of PJ Bass with a amp and bag as the PJ gets you the best of both worlds and as mentioned before is very versatile. eBay used to have loads but now there seems to mostly be P basses. If your interested in a metal bass i got one for sale HERE. If your not 100% about playing bass start cheap, i got my first bass, amp, strap, tuner and cable for 60 quid just under 4 years ago.
If i were just starting out in playing, id rip this guys arm off!!! (what were people saying about the forsale adds )

Just setting up a feedback thread for me "Dan"... Having brought and sold equipment or just passed stuff around in trades, please let me no what you thought so that others that i trade with in the future will get an idea of whats what. Thanks for reading, Regards Dan.....
11. Ive been contemplating getting an upgrade to my power supply so when i first started reading this thread i was about to say go with the Diego one as i brought a no name power brick in the past an it worked fine, did the job as it said but the quality of it wasn't that good and its at present held together with gaffer tape and cable ties (but still working) so it was a bit of a false economy, but then i followed the like that "dannybuoy" posted and before i no it Ive ordered on, a mains lead and 2x daisy chains including postage under £25!!! if it works as good as it looks then all is good ( i will let you all no how i get on with it once it arrives) Thanks for the link dannybuoy!!! (cool name by the way!! )
12. Pleasure to do business with this guy, brought a Boss limiter pedal off him and it was exactly how he described it Regards and thanks again Dan.
13.
Yeah, I'm still not decided, but I'm considering the Ibanez GSR200. I could spend more I think.. and I've already got some decent speakers at home, with a subwoofer etc, and they're like.. 30w or something.. Will they work as an amp?
You should be able to pick up a used, no frills, practice amp for about £50.ish that would be your best bet
14. Out of the lot mentioned in the O.P id personally go for the Ibanez given the choice of the three, mainly because its close to my first bass (Aria) , but as mentioned in this thread, keep your eye out on the for sale thread, local paper, music shop etc an you will get more bass for your cash S/H then start looking for an amp to go with it. Try not to get pulled in with the whole package thing as a cheep, badly set up bass cant be difficult to play and be off putting to a beginner. My advice is save your cash and look out for something half decent, just the bass and then go from there .
15. When using 45-100 gage i use Dunlop Tortex Orange .60mm And on the 50-105 gage i use Dunlop Tortex Green .88mm But as said before in this thread its all down to personal choice, get yourself a selection and keep trying them until you find one that suites you and stick to it. but at the end of it I'm finger style 90% of the time, the picks that i mentioned are what work for me .
16. Ashdown Envelope filter, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ashdown-Bass-Envelop...=item2a06e3ee5a

Effect loop

Just having an ask to see who uses the effect loop and what do you put through it ? At the present I'm running everything in a chain through the front of the amp, (Bass- Tuner - Compressor - Overdrive - Octave Divider - Chorus - Envelope Filter - Delay - Amp). Would i be better off putting the last three (chorus - envelope filter - delay) through the return - send effect loop ?? I no the point of the loop is to split the signal between the amp and cab (so your in effect in the middle of the two) Do people go about it this way or should i stick to what i no and keep it as it is in one big chain ? Or is my theory about the three i thought that might be best in the loops wrong ? Thanks in advance, Dan.
18. The thought of a re-finish has crossed my mind a few times, (Ive worked in auto body over 12yrs so no my way around paint) so doing it myself wouldn't be a problem. I brought this in the state it is now a few months ago, the damaged goes a bit further that a few scratches, "buckle rash from hell !!!" but its only cosmetic and just adds character to the bass, its been used an just slightly abused... And in the few months Ive had it Ive already put some personal history on it. I was thinking "Powder Blue" , fill in the creases an it will be like new again , but that was only a 5 second's fleeting thought, cause when i see it in this light.... All i want to do it play it !!! ( I Couldn't paint over that beautiful burst!!) "It is what it is to quote the phrase"!!! But at the end of the day its your bass, and if you want to put your mark on it then do it and don't think about the what ifs of selling it later Its yours so enjoy it !!!
19. I must be a lucky lad then, my Mrs is just as bad as me when i comes to buying guitars, i should be saving and SHE talks me into getting another Stingray ????, Not that I'm complaining
20.
I nearly always use one of those (& I also bought a one spare I've not had to use). Cheap as chips and worth every penny. Its very transparent and evens out my levels to make my playing more audible at a lower volume if that makes sense. I've tired loads of compressors and it turned out that all along I was looking for a limiter.
I hear you totally, got one on its way in the post of a forum member, Ive had one in the past and sold it to move on to bigger and better, its turned out to be a backward-sidewards-move thats gone full circle so back to the BOSS it is .......
21. http://guitarscratchremover.com/ Have a look at this .
22.
yeh, nice one, you could probably fit one of those little clean blender on there as well, it should give you more punch. You know if you plug into the other output on the echohead, the delays fade out even after you've turned off the pedal, which sounds more natural to me.
Never even tried or thought about that ??? (using the other output) Will give it a go and let you no how it goes , Thanks for the tip.
