2.
Scratch my previous one. U2. It wouldn't take long to learn. Loads of cash. I could also take Bono out with a well judged swing of the headstock and pretend it was an accident.
i like you mine would be something like new found glory or blink 182, where you have a laugh on stage, can be as immature as you like, and you dont have to worry about hitting the right notes cos the bassline is so simple! and i love that sort of music.
3.
no, body is too heavy to play really. some super hard wood. so at somepoint i may get a new body for it. the neck was home defretted, the ronseal is great but it is too hard to sand back, it puddled at the edges of the fretboard meaning I dont have much of a radius on it. so at some point i may stick something else on it. even if i was trying to get rid of it its probably worth less than a packet of space raiders!
i've got to say, i agree with Delberthot, if you're swapping the body and the neck you're getting rid of the bass really. you're using those eletronics and pickups in a new bass.
4. now i'm looking at SGs, even though i think theyre fugly! however - oh yes! best looking SG i've ever seen! EDIT: crap that pictures MASSIVE! any help resizing it without havig to save it to my pc?

11. what i'd say is don't take it too seriously! play bass when you feel like playing bass, if you're not enjoying it put it down! its only a hobby after all. if you're not good at it, who cares (provided you're not in a band)? theres no point in selling all your gear just because you dont think you're any good, then if you feel bored what are you gonna do?! you might as well keep some of it, so at least then whenever you feel like it you can have a mess around. if you decide to sell, i'm afraid i dont have the £80.50 that has already been offered for the shuker. however, i do have half a packet of skittles if you're interested in a trade?
12. thats purdy
13. we don't do it, but i think we need to. the drummer always turns up in a cardigan, and the rythm guitarist always turns up in a shirt. me and the lead guitarist are usually t-shirt and jeans, always rocky t-shirts as well, something thats suitable.
14. IBANEZ!
15.
Considering you only posted it yesterday morning, you might be being ever so slightly impatient! Put some pics up & bump it every day or two - eventually someone interested will see it. Jon.
+1 whenever i sell, as a rule i'll only bump every other day for a month or so, if its still not sold by then i might start bumping every day. but you have to give other sellers a chance, too! but you've bumped 7 times in just over a day.
16.
Yes to all! SR500 would be good because there's a lot of those about. What/where are the pickups in the Taitycaster? Alex
the taitycaster are a seymour duncan ceramic musicman pickup but a fair bit further back than the sweet spot and a seymour duncan quarter pounder precision pickup, and the EA part of the pickup is where it is on a precision, but the DG are the other side, so its a reverse P pickup. and its got a seymour duncan 2 band EQ. pictures here so you can get a better idea - taitycaster pictures so i wouldn't say its a classic sound at all.
17.
Haha! Nice one for making sense out of my ramblings man!
so i got it right then? sorry if i sounded rude calling you "he" whilst i wrote that paragraph by the way (rereading it, it sounds fairly rude to me), i just couldn't remember your name cos you're new and i haven't seen you post before!
18.
Thanks, Tait. Righty-ho - crystal clear now. Totally understand. With the programme. So... No I don't. I'm just getting in the way here, so I'll leave you building-shakers to it.
19. some basschatter with knowledge of how this works should really set one up, i'm sure loads of basschatters would join. me... i wouldnt know where to start with setting a forum up.
20.
I'm sorry - all that went straight over my head. I'm just an EADG numptie
i think what he said was- sub contra means below the stated or expected range. so BEADG was classed as sub contra cos the standard was always EADG. but these days people use BEADG as often as EADG. so he said he wouldn't class 5 strings as sub contra any more, and would we? then he was asking if any of us play sub contra, and what tunings we use. he uses F#BEAD, therefore he would be sub contra because even if you wouldnt class low B as sub contra any more, F# is even lower. i might have read it all wrong of course, but thats what i thought he said.
21. i always wanted a yellow jazz with a P pickup... now i'm not so sure...
22. standard tuned 4 stringers. so thats a no.
23. i've not heard of any of those songs except the stevie wonder one.
24. www.theguitargrounds.co.uk is what i use. its very small, and whereas you can check in on basschat every few hours and have plenty of new posts to read, i only check in on the guitar grounds once every couple of days. but if theres something you need to know, theres some good, friendly guys there who will be able to help you out.
25. the drummer in my last couple of bands (and current band) is my brother, and we also jam fairly regularly in the music room, just sort of funky improv stuff, he puts a beat down and i put a bass part to it. he's a brilliant drummer (grade 8 distinction) and he knows exactly what he's doing. hes more of a musician than me to be honest, he plays drums and piano as his main instruments, but he's learning sax and he's not a bad bassist or guitarist, and he's got a great singing voice. so i just leave it to him to do what he's doing, and i've not had a problem with him yet.
