2. that spector looks a lot like a warwick streamer to me. maybe you'd get a similar sound from one of them? please correct me if im wrong, ive never played a streamer or a spector, so i don't really know
3. how long ago was this? i live near mansfield woodhouse (if were talking about the one in nottinghamshire) and i can't say i even noticed the shop, but ive only been playing two or three years and wouldn't have noticed it before then

Custom Jazz

yes, it does look different. you can see it as i bought it here
5.
Ignore all of the above and go look at Thomann. Their own brand 'Harley Benton' basses are extraordinarily good value. I've gigged mine solidly for 3 years with no hassle and just a dodgy pot to show for it! And by solidly, i Mean on average twice a week, not including practices and rehearsals. Trust me on this. To hear examples of it in action, clicky one and clicky two. Both are old bands of mine which I used my harley 5er for! Check out the crunch on Gummy Babies track 'Stepping Stone'. Who needs a warwick!?
wow! what a sound on stepping stone! which harley benton are you playing?
6.
I find being a student with sod all money tends to help. You know you can't have so you blinker yourself.
Now way! I'm at secondary school with sod all money, but that doesn't blinker me. It just makes me want but know I cant have
7. Am I the only one that thinks Squier should make an obey series precision bass? The Teles and Strats are cool, but why don't they make a precision or jazz?
8. after seeing that picture, I agree, keep it natural
9. I prefer the colour brown tort, but it really depends on what you're putting it on. EDIT: Sorry, just seen its on a black P. have you looked at the squier Pete Wentz? Thats black with red tort
10. o, I see. The mods come in the price of £250 each. I thought it was £250 without the mods and £350 with. my mistake, the price sounds fair.
11.
Tell that to Marcus Miller . By the way I don't think the ashtray fits over a BADASS 2.
Has the Marcus Miller got a BADASS? I'm gonna check it out now? *brings up the fender website* Well... who knew? I withdraw my statement about it looking stupid, I never thought the Marcus Miller looked stupid and I still don't.

Burns Bison

Thats what I thought, none of the pictures has a trem either. Thanks
13. Me and my dad were planning on converting a guitar to travel bass. But then we realised that we had a 34" scale neck (a squier jazz bass one) and the body is too small to fit the bridge on at 34". I realise there probably isn't (mostly because my dad says there isn't) but is there any way we could make it fit ie. a different scale that would work with a 34" neck?
14. the basslab soul bass is nice, but all of the others are way too wierd for my taste. good idea for a thread by the way
15. I'd say its possible, but I don't like the sound.

Burns Bison

I was looking at the specs on a burns bison bassand it says "Burns Deluxe Tremelo unit". What is that? Also, there is one master tone and one master volume, so why is there four knobs? Finally, what sort of music is it best played for and what sort of sounds does it make. I don't really know why I'm so interested because I'm not thinking of getting one, I'm just a bit curious.
17. I love the BADASS on my jazz, you should definatly get one if your thinking of changing the bridge. But personally I think it would look stupid to have a modern look like the BADASS with a retro look of the chrome covers. Just my opinion.
18. Perhaps the price is a little too high? You can get them new for less than £250.
19.
May as well give up now then! Is tuning that much of a hassle? really?
No, but I'd prefer it if my bass tuned itself, I'm lazy like that. And I always lose my tuner.
Now, as musicians, we cant trust ourselves to tune our instruments..... What is this world coming too? G
Although I can trust myself to tune my bass, the guitarist in my band can't be trusted. He's never in tune (at least, not until we tell him) so i suppose this sort of thing is better for people like him. But I wouldn't pay extra for a bass just because it tunes itself (well, maybe a bit extra, of course, but not a few hundred quid more)
20. I would say drums are quite hard, except one of my best mates plays drums and so does my brother. But apart from that... I've voted singer, theres plenty of people out there who think they can sing, but not as many that can. Then they have to have a voice to suit. Like my band, Blank Canvas, we play heavy metal music and our singer has a really cool low growly voice that goes really well with our music, but try getting him singing something like Indie and he just wouldn't work.
21.
I've also heard Gear Avarice Syndrome being used as the meaning of GAS. As for the OLPs - I've been wondering about those too. There is a Tony Levin Signature OLP (MM 5), so if they're rubbish, maybe we ought to let him know..?
What does Avarice mean? I always thought it was Guitar Aquisition Syndrome, and we only said that because BAS (bass aquisition syndrome) sounds stupid.

Did I show you?

You are really good! I'm sitting here listening to you right now, a song called Around For.

Custom Jazz

Cos they look cool! The Bartolinis and the preamp were there before i got it, and I really bought it for the bartolinis. My soundgear has bartolinis and I love the sound, so thats why I bought it.

Custom Jazz

Heres my customised Fender/Squier Jazz Bass: I bought it of a fellow BassChatter who had made a few customisations then I customised it some more. The previous owner of this bass bought it as a 1998 squier jazz bass. He then installed Bartolini Pickups and an active preamp. Then I bought it off him for £150. I don't like the Jazz Bass neck so the first thing I did was changed it for a precision neck that came off my Dad's MIM precision (which now has a fretless neck on). I have also put on a BADASS II bridge because the one that came with the bass was awful and I've only heard good things about BADASS II. (and Mike Dirnt uses one. you may have noticed that I like Green Day from the calendar on the first picture) The only other changes I have made is to put chrome knobs on as I don't like the way Jazz knobs look. And here it is with my favourite bass ever made, my Ibanez Soundgear
