Jaco JB

fair enough. i suppose its also nice to have a change every so often.
4. i agree about idiots posting on youtube. i once saw on a victor wooten video someone put "its quite good, but hold your bass lower, you're not one of the beatles!" i felt like giving them a slap and telling them they can insult his stlye of playing once they're as good as him.
5. i think my fretless p is mexican, i could get some measurments, what do you want?
6.
This thread is cool theres so many different types of bassists using loads of different styles :p Im 15 and ive been playing a 4 string fender standard precision for about....2 years i guess im in an band that plays heavy rock with a bit of punk i play punk, rock and some funk im influenced by stuff like: rage against the machine, red hot chili peppers, the clash, blink-182, billy talent etc. i know everyone on here is in love with wooten, claypool or burton but i find them really boring :p really talented but boring
I like your taste. (apart from rage against the machine)
7. On my squier jazz bass, when the lead is only partially into the jack socket, it's a lot louder than when the lead is all the way in. It has a pre-amp (I'm not sure what make) that was fitted by another basschatter but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, i just thought anyone who might be able to help should know. This has only started happening recently and I hope someone knows how to sort this out.
8. have you got any further with this yet? I was enjoying following this thread and now it seems to have stopped

I see you have started the thread about the finish for your squier.
10. Or you could give it to some little kids and give them paint, i'm sure they'd come up with a unique design
11. I'd get a toohbrush and lots of paint in lots of different colours, and just dip the toothbrush into the paint and flick lots of colours all over the bass! EDIT: just make sure you take the neck and electrics off the bass first
12. I use mostly pick because of the music I play. I mostly play punk music and the pick is easier to use as well as sounds better for punk. But I do like playing things such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers and for that sort of stuff I use fingers
13. I'm not sure i like them much, i prefer a simple bass.

Jaco JB

I can't understand why Geddy Lee is playing a Jaco Jazz when he has his own signature? Why not defret one of his signature Jazz basses?
15. is there any difference between MIJ and CIJ? because for an MIJ +1 for guitaremporium.co.uk
16. bit off topic but what's that colourful blue jazz bass at the back of Mr.Foxen's picture of all the lefty ricks?
17. basschat's count may only be in a few months, but don't forget bassworld. We had bassworld for years and we've kept all our members from there. every forum has to start somewhere, and if the site's designed just for jazz bassists, there's going to be less people on than basschat, which is for any bassists. but no, i wouldn't worry about too much of a rivalry
18.
GWB 1005
hmm, gonna look that one up EDIT: O! I looked it up, its the ibanez gary willis. Keep 'em coming.
19.
Fender Tony Franklin fretless precision.
Good call! I don't play fretless, but its still a very cool bass.
20.
I think they look horrible, and I like Marmite!
Same here!
21. if you could have any artist's signature bass, what would it be? Mine would be either a Fender Mike Dirnt, a Fender Mark Hoppus or an Ibanez Paul Gray

Nice basses you've got there, especially the mustang. What colour are you going to refinish the squier jazz?
23. Well, Rich, if you're going to ask them about the fretless, I'll ask them about a four string. Please Squier, make a nice 4 string version of this bass, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease
24. In the basschat logo thingy at the top of the page, what is the bass in the top right hand corner? I'm not too bothered its just ive always wondered what it is when I log online.
25. The EDB doesn't come in sparkly blue does it?
