1. You know we all hear the jokes - drummers=thick, singers = Diva, I am starting to think they are based on fact! The only thing is, I am not looking forward to trying to find a new band/members, thought this was supposed to be fun!
2. WOW, It must be the season for it! Been chatting with our guitarist for a month or so now, As a band we are going nowhere, had to turn down gig offers, as the singer had a bad throat(again), they never remember to bring the rent money on time. We have GIVEN the drummer an MP3 player, filled with stuff we want to cover, asked him 2 weeks ago to make Lateralus his priority, and at the last rehearsal, had he done it....nope. We used to rehearse at a studio, and the drummer told us its hard learning new stuff as he has nowhere to practise. so we all chip in, rent a unit (more cost than rehearsal space) Has it improved NO, does he learn the stuff faster NO. Singer can never remember any of the lyrics - I am about 4 songs infront of the drummer and singer, Its just a waste of my money and time - we meet again this tuesday - I will be taking my towel! All the fun has gone for me, time for a new start. What really annoys me, Is that I had not played bass for 15+years when we formed a year and half ago, and I have worked my nut sack off learning our stuff, plus I have secured every gig we have played, I managed our twitter/FB page, I type up and laminate set lists, organised the artwork/banners etc - no one else does a thing - they just turn up and dont really play as well as they should! I am holding down 2 jobs, (average working day for me is 8 till 22:30) I have a wife, three kids, and yet I still find the time to make the required effort! I am out! GGGRRRRRR! sorry for the rant!
3.
It's on, sir! I'll make it £55
Too rich for me, I'm out lol!
4. I will give ya £50.00 for it! lol
5. Whats up with your gearbox? I might be able to fix that in a swap for the T bird! (worth a shot no?)
6. in the words on monty python..Oh you lucky Bar steward! Bet you are one happy bunny just now!
7. Adam Jones! and not just a jam! that would be epic, made even more so, if Danny and Maynard were 'jamming' too!
8. I would have thought it would have made the bass want to 'flip' forward, can you not go in near the neck join, Its what I did on my T-bird to resolve the neck dive issue!
9.
I've become a big fan over the last month, since Max posted this thread. Simply love the start to Goliath on the latest album when the bass comes in. Aggressive and attacking. Can see what you mean about it being a little generic, silddx. I wasn't fully taken when I initially listened to them, but something clicked and was so impressed that I now have both albums. The second album is a more accomplished and rounded album, but Themeta the title track of the first album is a great track. EDIT: Now I've developed a taste for Australian hard rock and metal bands.
I have recently discovered them, and I totally agree the start of Goliath is killer! check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PmhHPFgcwk for more aussie rock, I just love this simple bass line!
10. Do you have anyone else using a 'digital' set up? maybe my one is faulty?
11. Mark do you get yours from eVilbay? PM where it came from if you dont mind, as the company where I got mine and mailed back the usual.......We have sold loads of these, no-one else has had problems......blah blah blah waffle waffle waffle! thanks BP
12. Well, after rehearsing last night, all I can say is its going back! Initial thoughts were good when testing at home, but playing in a 'live' situation I have no confidence in the unit,as the range is pretty poor, useable up to about 3 meters, any more and the latency becomes huge. Another issue is although it uses bluetooth technology, I am pretty sure the signal is not encrypted, as it gets very harsh interference when the guitarist switches on his Line 6 G30, we tried 're-pairing' the units and switching channels on the line 6, all made no difference, still got a horrible buzz. We also switched the bluetooth on our phones on, and this too affected the signal, The signal strength also seemed to 'drop out' whilst I was playing on my own throughout a song. So the long and the short are :- Its great if there are no other bluetooth devices on and you are very close to you set-up! My opinion - save for the Line 6 G30, yes its £170.00 more, but, I would not pay £80+/- for a product that falls so short of the mark! Overall I am dissapointed, I was not expecting it to 'beat' the line 6, but I think I am correct in saying, it needs to do what it is designed to do!
13. Traded one of my bass guitars for a Boss delay pedal, Pedal arrived well packed and quickly! Good to deal with! thanks!
14. Sold TEE My delay, great transaction, all round sound guy! thanks
15. Now sold to TEE ! thanks
16. Just to let you guys know, I took the plunge and stumped up for a Joyo wireless set up. > http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WIRELESS-GUITAR-SYST...=item35af04f728 Only had a quick fiddle last night, instant thoughts are : Will be making a male/female extension lead to move the transmitter, as I am not sure how secure it will be hanging under the bass. charges via usb....not ideal, but will be testing the "claimed" battery life. Very easy to set up and "pair" the two units. Another benefit, you can pair the transmitter with more than one receiver, could make multi-amping easier! very little latency when tested lasted night, sitting on the practice amp, found it to be fine! Will be putting it though its paces on tuesday night with a full 4 hour rehearsal......... Stay tuned for more but initial thoughts are for £80.00, Im impressed!
17. WOW, looks a nice bit of kit, but new they are over £350.00 plus you then have to factor in the expression pedal. Have seen the red Whammy IV's for £150.00!
18. I cant find an XP-100 - boo-hoo, lol, but I will keep on searching! And I have an reason to get a whammy now, as not only are we playing schism, we are now going to play lateralus! Justifys the purchase in my mind!
19. Up for Grabs is my Guyatone MD-3 micro delay pedal, cannot fault it, only reason for sale. I am a JC fanboy and had to have a boss one! (sad I know) looking for £45.00 shipped, no box but in good condition all info can be found here > http://www.guyatone.com/Md2.php Would be happy to trade/PX for a boss floor pedal type tuner, TU-2 or TU-2?
20. Happy New Year (now buy my bass) kinda bump!
21. Straight from the horses mouth : "[email protected] to me show details 3:20 PM (10 minutes ago) The BP80 and the BP200 Whammy function is very good and comparable to the stand-alone Whammy." Kinda sells it to me!
22.
Unfortunately , the are rather pricey as you've noticed. When these first came out, the wholesaler sent me a guitar version which I swiftly returned.(Don't know if I regret this or not). These came out around the same time as the Boss -ME8B and the Boss got more favourable feedback from the reviewrs at the time. I went with the Boss . I missed out on a Bass Whammy on flea bay (Swiss seller) . Outbid by £5.00 . Bidding finished while I was in bed.Oh, well. The way things are , these cost as much as a bass itself nowadays.Maybe if you've got a bass to part exchange or something, someone may have one. But then, is it worth it...
Its just a crazy amount of money, just for the one song (Schism) I may get to use it on other stuff, but its doubtful. Have been looking at this http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/4580...-processor.html. It has the Oct up whammy function, but my only concern is its not as good as the "real" one? and £75 is too much to waste if its cack? Gas is bad mkay! I have mailed Digitech again, to ask how similar the two pedals would be, see what they say I suppose. There is A Bass Whammy on the bay in Japan right now $520 dollars BIN, so by the time you add shipping and get stung on import duty, thats a lot of beer tokens! BP
23. Seeing as the price for these used seems to be going up and up, I though I would fire Digitech an email to ask if they had any plans to re-introduce them...........................Their reply: [email protected] to me show details 5:16 PM (15 hours ago) Hi, There are no current plans to reissue the Bass Whammy. Oh bugger then, Anyone want a Kidney?
24. My latest set up. Managed to get an SBK pedalboard off the bay nice and cheap, and have started filling it with pedals. The little box behind the whammy is my DIY loop switcher, which brings in the Rat/Whammy/Delay, so I can roll my foot off the whammy treadle to come out of that loop straight into my "clean" tone, which is perfect when I play Schism. Still not 100% finished, I want some nice Neutrik connectors and some decent patch cables that I can make up in the correct lengths, and I also want to Change the Guyatone delay for a Boss unit, and add a Boss TU-3 Tuner, At the moment I am using a Behringer rack mount one, but I want to streamline my gear even further. Used it all last night recording some tracks, and I am happy, although when I Added that lot up I was shocked that there is nearly £600 pounds worth of "shiney" sitting there!
