1. I've just bought a MIM Fender Jazz so very reluctantly my VM Jazz has to go. It's the black '77 VM Jazz with black scratchplate & bound & blocked neck. It's in great condition with only the usual minor marks you get from playing it. It plays & sounds superb & I know I'm going to regret this but I need to re-coup as much of the money for the MIM as possible. I've been so impressed with this Jazz & I would love to keep it as a back up for the MIM but I just can't afford to. The Duncan designed pick-ups give these basses a real Jazz sound & they're really well put together. I'm almost certain I'll buy another one once I've got myself sorted out. Everywhere seems to be selling these new for £273 so I'm asking £180 which I think is a reasonable price. I'll happily meet up with the buyer within a 30 mile radius of Kettering in Northants if that helps. If that's not possible I will post at extra cost or you can arrange your own courier. Unfortunately I don't have a case or gig bag but I can box it up for delivery - I'll also remove the neck if you want me to. Sorry I can't take trades on this. I'll take some pics & get them up tomorrow evening but for now this is the model it is: & here are the specs: Series: Vintage Modified Series Colour: (506) Black, (Polyester Finish) Body: Agathis Neck: Maple, C-Shape, (Polyurethane Finish) Fingerboard: Maple, 9.5” Radius (241 mm) No. of Frets: 20 Medium Jumbo Pickups: 2 Duncan Designed™ JB101 Single-Coil Jazz Bass® Pickups with AlNiCo 5 Magnets Controls: Volume 1. (Neck Pickup), Volume 2. (Bridge Pickup), Master Tone Bridge: Standard 4-Saddle Machine Heads: Standard Open-Gear Tuners Hardware: Chrome Pickguard: 3-Ply Black/White/Black Scale Length: 34” (864 mm) Width at Nut: 1.50” (38 mm) Unique Features: White Bound Fingerboard with White Pearloid Block Position Inlays, Black Skirted Control Knobs, Synthetic Bone Nut. Cheers Steve
 2. Just bought a Westone Thunder 1A from Chay. He's a great guy to deal with, the bass was as described, packaging was excellent & he despatched it very quickly. Thanks very much Chay - it was a real pleasure!! Steve

 4.
Setting up the PA and lights just gives us something to do while the guitarist is setting out his pedals.
& while the drummer is setting up the Myriad of drums/cymbals/stands that I loaded into the van earlier - three of which he may actually play during the gig! (he may even play one of them in time with the rest of us too).
 5. I exchanged my VM fretless Jazz today for Bluesman's '77 VM Jazz. The bass is in excellent condition, & sounds great. It was a pleasure to meet & deal with Bob & I'd have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone!! Many thanks Bob for an easy transaction.
 6. Karl - What can I say? That looks absolutely fantastic. You've done a really great job on that & I feel quite proud that that was once my bass! I was surprised when I got it that the intonation was OK even though it was a 2 saddle bridge. I'm glad you're going to put it to good use. Hope the gigs go really well for you mate. All the best Steve
 7. I had one of these that someone had resprayed red (it was originally white like this). They also sprayed the pickups purple! Fantastic bass though - crystal clear low "B" & you can get loads of different sounds from them. I sold mine after I bought a Dean DB95 5 string (another very underated bass). The guy who bought it stripped it back to bare wood & stained it. It looked fantastic when he'd finished it. They're great basses.
I had this - the memorably named Vester OPR1335EQ. It was actually much better than I expected, well made, decent finish and good active electronics. But insanely narrow at the nut for a 5-er, and no resale value. I bought it for £100 and managed to lose money when I sold it.
14. When I was made redundant about 15 years ago I sold my Aria SB1000 so I could take the family on holiday. That was before they were really worth much but I wish I still had it. I was also struggling financially about 5 years ago & had to make the decision to sell my 90's MIJ Fender Jazz & my '72 Gibson slot headed EB3 (which I'd had for over 30 years) so that I could pay off the mortgage arrears - that was the one that really hurt! Ouch almost brings a tear to the eye even now!
 15. No-one interested? - it's a lovely bass. There is a well written review here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=111
 16. Hi, I've reluctantly decided to sell my VM Precision because I need to reduce my collection & this one is not being played. I bought this off a fellow Basschatter in January & I've hardly played it since I bought it. It's in very good condition with a nice low action, the necks got a lovely feel to it & the fit & finish is very good. I'm looking for £160 plus postage for it or you can collect from near Kettering in Northants. I hope Phil doesn't mind but I've included his pics as my camera has decided it's not going to play. Any questions please feel free to PM me.
 17. I sold my Bronco Bass to Karl today. He was a pleasure to deal with & a real nice guy. Good to meet you Karl, thanks for a smooth easy transaction!
 18. I nearly did too - the colour looks great. But then reality kicked in - I got an Aero1 for Xmas & I've just bought PhilW's VM Precision & I'm supposed to be selling basses to make way for those two. I still want one though.........
Just managed to stop myself from completing the transaction... phew!! I just thought to myself, "Why?!!" I'm pretty sure I only wanted to buy one because it's such a good deal, and maybe because it would be another thing to nerd about with. I don't need it. Nah, I'm gonna buy an AERO1 instead! Doh!
19. I can only echo the comments made by other members. Phil is great to deal with - a true gent. I bought a Vintage Modified Precision from him & it's in fantastic condition. I couldn't pay him for a few days but he very kindly agreed to wait & it meant that I got a bass I've been wanting for a long time. The bass was very well packed up (including a gigbag) & was despatched very quickly. Phil - thanks very much mate - it's been a pleasure to deal with you.
 20. Yes I have to say that Geordt did seem OK in my dealings with him - I'm just too trusting I guess. Don't feel bad mate - I'm just glad I found out.
I feel bad now :-( sorry mate, I actually think it'd make a great project and you should totally keep it for sale. I once paid about £500 for a signature myself. Luckily I got a full refund from Geodt who was fantastic to deal with to be fair.
21. Yes sadly it probably will because there won't be much of it left in piece!
One day, even vintage Ikea furniture will be considered to be valuable antiques ...
22. Thanks for your comments mate. The neck fit is really good & I will do the measurements for my own piece of mind (the bass is intonated OK - open string, fingered at the twelfth fret & harmonic at the twelfth fret) so I don't think it can be far out but in all honesty I couldn't sell to this anyone knowing what I know now. Still it does play nicely & I have been using it for a long time now. I think I'll just let the "I've been conned" feeling subside before I make any decisions. I'd be even more gutted if I'd spent £695 on it like someone did for one last year on Ebay!
I don't think you need to go that far mate, unless of course you too are worried the neck and body aren't entirely compatible. If I were you I'd just start the thread again and state that it is a Signature Bass (trade name) from Geodt Lamberts but put up the measurement I mentioned earlier so as to clear up any doubts (nut to bridge and 12th fret to bridge) and avoid any claims of miraculous properties that no other bass has. After all you've been playing the bass for 4 years with no problems. Go for it and good luck.
