The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

Yes I do - there's also quite a concave bow in the neck hence tweaking the truss rod. -
The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

Was it a red one by any chance? I've just received a red one and the action is way too high. I've tried tweaking the truss rod and still can't get it as low as I'd like. I'm just wondering if it's the one you returned. -

I'm sure that's the one I saw for sale in a tent at a steam rally near Kettering in September (I kid you not). If it wasn't this one it was a very similar configuration - it was definitely a Hutchins branded one in blue. I remember thinking it was an odd configuration to produce. The guy had quite a few in different configurations from different manufacturers including a Strat/Jazz twin neck that I was prevented from buying by the current Mrs Tazza & it was only £150! Mind you with no way of testing them as he had no amp there it could well be that she saved me from myself!

Vintage MIJ (formerly J@pCr@p) Spotting
tazza1 replied to Bassassin's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
99.9% it was a Columbus before it was refinished & had its logo sanded off. Columbus was an incredibly common UK brand but Cimar is very uncommon. Seller seems to be making stuff up in order to pretend it's got an Ibanez connection. Which it hasn't and wouldn't really, even if it was a Cimar. Which it's not.
I've only ever seen these in sunburst so it's nice to see one in a different colour. So it is probably a ply body then? Certainly the sunburst one I have, which I suspect is similar to this, is ply bodied. I must repair it some day. -

There's a nicely aged Jap Crap Jazz on the Bay at the moment. The seller says he thinks a Cimar, it does have the chrome truss rod cover & Made In Japan neck plate which you find on 70's era Japanese copies so it could be any one of a few generic brands. Not a bad price either - if it wasn't just before Xmas I probably would have bought this except for the fact I now mainly play short scale basses. Hopefully Bassassin will be along soon! I've still got one! It was my main gigging amp for years. I tell myself it's a back up but the truth is I can't bear to let it go. 150 loud watts & I could get almost any sound out of it with all the switching options & the graphic on it, fantastic amp. I paired it with 2x10 & 1x15 Ampeg cabs - that rig would be way too heavy for me to cart around these days though.
I had a Laney head back in the day, a DP150? I think? One of these: IIRC, it was pretty good! Can't remember what I traded or P/X'd it for, was a looooong time ago!
