A very late reply here, but the Custard Factory gets the job done very well. I have limited experience with compressors, so this is all I know: It makes my tone solid and more present and is infinitely better than anything in the Helix. I have an itching to try other high end compressors so I can understand how good/bad the custard factory is. However, when I’m playing I am very happy with it. I wish there was metering to help me dial in the volume, but that’s a minor grievance.

Yes! I really enjoy my Custard Factory. I tried for months to get a compressor in my Helix to sound good. But I was never happy. I bought a Custard Factory and quickly found a tone I love. Playing a thunderbird, I have fast attack, high compression, low presence, and blend around 80%. When engaged, the tone is notably ‘better’. Like all compressors, the change is subtle, but when disengaged the sound quality just drops. i cannot say how this compressor compares to others, but I know it’s fast to find a tone I like, straightforward, and better than anything in my helix.
