he advantages of a multi-fx means you have a lot of choice.. the disadvantage is that most of the sounds on a multi-fx you wont use because they are useless (jet engines e.t.c) I go with pedals, due to me being able to get the exact pedal I need for my sound.. you hear a sound you like, research what pedal it is and there you go you have that sound. you said you know which sounds you need, roughly 4-5 pedals so if I was you i'd stick with that. UNLESS you consider the Line 6 Pod XT, which has amp models and stuff with the XT you can make your amp 'simulate' into being another amp model, such as an SVT for a really good drive sound. you can also make it sound as if its mic'd up, and you can change the cabs on it too.. in a nutshell if you know the sounds you want, then get the pedals if you want a wide-variety and have the time to configure and want stuff like amp simulation, get a multi-fx.

yup.. I opened a claim because I bought some elites strings off of a website, and had no reply for over 2 weeks to 3 of my emails I opened a dispute, and they replied the same night!! he blamed it to festive season but hmm idk about that anyhow, we sorted it, and he refunded me the cash and also gave me a free pair of strings for an apology anyways.. so I benefitted quite a bit really.. although they were not my gauge, but still they are the standard size, not the medium i ordered but im still not complaining.

I say use the floating thumb technique mate, ESPECIALLY since its early on in your playing.. cause if you leave it late (almost 2 years late for me) its much harder to adapt back into your playing, cus for 3 years you wouldnt have done it. It will let you play lighter, and more defining - thus giving you a longer career (if thats what you choose to do) keep the thumb free. when playing the A, keep it on the E. when playing the D, keep it on the A. when playing the E, 'float' it.. will take off a lot of stress on your hand and make you sound better Imo.

Hey guys Noticed there is another Muse tribute hanging around the forums, hehe also noticed they are a 5-piece Heres a Youtube to my Muse tribute band. The videos we have atm is of our first gig, we played 10 songs but only have a few up atm. Our set is 2 hours long with our own made backing tracks (not using the actual backing tracks's of muse) We are a 3-piece, and young performers (18 years old). Our singer/guitarist/keys is a vital role and we are lucky to not only live in the same city, but goto the same college and be best of friends! so what more could be more muse-ish?! http://www.youtube.com/user/museictributeband Please comment & rate the vids if you wish, we would be very grateful! I'll also post on here from time to time some gigs that we do (not all, obviously, I dont wanna spam the board!) Take care guys
this is really unfair. im desperate for a cab, have no money, my eminence are slowly dying, and yet there is a free cab going to whomever wants it, from a very nice gentleman who lives about 250 miles away. dark days
Well, you could ask for a dice roll and then offer to pay for a courier to come and pick it up? Arrange for it to ship from him to you.. will cost around £40 but still worth it, surely?
play less loud or don't stand right in front of your amp.
no matter where my pedals are it still feeds back, due to the high gain signal going into the amp from the level of the pedal.

I found a gate that I'm gonna buy. Thanks for the reply. =]

yeah, it happens while at practice, too.. but im more concerned about live performance of the issue how does a noise gate work? does it only cut out certain sounds? (like feedback) or does it cut out up to a certain db level?

Hey guys I'm in a Muse tribute band, we did our first gig last night. However, When we were sound checking, if ever my Big Muff was set at a too high level it would start feeding back from my amp whenever there is NO signal going into it. So I have to Stomp it on/off whenever I am not playing anything. When I do play, it doesnt feed back. Is there ANY way I can get rid of this problem? and I am on a very tight budget atm 'til we do our first few gigs for free and then we will be earning big bucks through a manager that wants to get hold of us and said he'd make us rake the cash in! So, I REALLy need your help here, is there anything I can do to stop the feedback sound without turning the volume of the pedal down, because I need it set at that level to cut through my low end, cus I keep a lot of my low end up anyways with the Big Muff and other effects. Thanks guys.

Hey gang Since I have upgraded my amp, I am going to be selling this lovely fella. I regret having to let this go, I was planning on using it as a back-up amp or running it live along with my current amp, but I could use the £££ since Christmas has just dented my pocket! I am really looking to save up for a Line6 POD XT, so this is gonna help my costs towards that. I bought this just over £200 brand new about a year or so ago from Reverb. It now retails are just under £190. This amp is really reliable, it has never let me down and it sounds great.. and it is LOUD! despite it being a 112 but it is powerful - 75w I played it at 75% volume before and my mum went ape****. She said if I did it again I'd be out the house, so I obviously haven't done it since! It has a headphone out socket (1/4 jack input so you might need an adapter) and you can also plug in an MP3 player and play along through the amp with your bass signal. It has build in compression and 4 amp models - I will state the features below the post. I'm asking for £100 for this, collected. If you can arrange a courier and cover the costs, then I will arrange for someone to be in at a certain time so he can collect it. It is in immaculate condition, literally as new except for a bit of dust. no marks or scuffs, brand new condition as you can see in the pictures! Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, its the best I could get! FEATURES - 4 Incredible Bass Amp Models: Clean, R&B, Rock, and Grind - Synth Bass - Full-time Opto Compressor - XLR Direct Out With Line 6’s exclusive A.I.R. processing - Pre Amp Out - 4 Programmable Model Memories - Headphone Out - Jam Along CD / MP3 1/8” Input - 10” Speaker - 75 Watts AMP MODELS Clean Inspired by the Eden Traveler, this model is all about clean, funk and fusion bass tone. It’ll give you all the warm lows and punchy highs you need R&B Inspired by a 1968 B-15 Flip Top, this model is a tribute to those late 60’s and early 70’s clean fat bass tones. It is the kind of tone you hear on most Motown recordings, as played by a pioneering young James Jamerson. Rock This model is inspired by the ’74 Ampeg SVT. This workhorse has appeared on innumerable recordings and arena stages worldwide. And now all the tone of the 300-pound behemoth 8X10 and head is available in your combo! Grind As the name would suggest, this is for modern rock lovers, Alice in Chains to Mudvayne and Rage Against The Machine. Based on a distorted SansAmp PSA-1 into an SVT in addition to a direct clean bass signal mixed in, this model gives you that angry, clear and punchy aggression that takes your sound to DEFCON 1.

If you use a Bass Collection Comfort strap beware
civictiger replied to GreeneKing's topic in Accessories and Misc
I never trust plastic anymore, I had one break just by picking the bass up :| I say get a good quality thick one, like this: http://www.mansons.co.uk/shopping/categori...tar-strap-wide/ They cost a lot, but you know your bass will be safe for life. And 'cause of the thickness of the strap, its not only more safe ,but more comfortable. -
Boss, Korg. Korg, Boss. Boss, Korg. Korg, Boss. Everyone says the same thing. Forget that and get a real tuner: Peterson StroboFlip VS-F Virtual Strobe Tuner
that looks like something from south park or something but seriously +1 Korg Pitchblack

yeahh Ash, my favourite (Chris Wolstenholme) mixes up, too. he also uses a stack with a combo, but his rig is too confusing, he has a different head for every amp so he can change the EQ to suit a clean tone and an EQ to suit his effects tone. I'm pretty sure he keeps his bass low end, with a bit of treble, looses some of the bang on middle mids, and on his effects he turns the treble up to bring out the distortion sound and the low-low mids to bring out the growl a bit. Andy - I have checked my amp, they actually suggest for me to pair it with a 410 and a 115 (altho I think I am going to get a 410 to play safe with my sound.. im new to amp+cab, this is my first amp in that sense rather than combo's so im gonna keep it fairly safe for now) Thanks for the heads up, though!

currently, I dont have a rack, just a pedalboard. I guess i'll stick with the Live one for now, and then when I get some more money and build my rack I will then sell it, obtain a Pro and get a MIDI controller (if I see the logic in doing that.. however I dont think around £200 is worth it just to have a pedal off stage into a rack) but that will all be settled with cash thanks for the replies guys, i appreciate it =] will be saving me a few dollar!

How do you all think it would sound? Hopefully, as good as the whisky itself.. But somehow, I doubt it!
