    No worries - give me a shout if you change your mind. Also picked up a GP7 head plus 4x10 cab this week for £90, so thought I would try an offer of a similar magnitude given the GP11 is a slightly better head!

    So Charles comes up again and again on this forum which shows he's doing something right! Personally I rate him as one of the greatest ever bass players.     I've got three heads, three cabs, a combo, a pedal board and a couple basses - so ticked the Cetera as that's about twenty different combinations! Generally I play whatever floats my boat from week to week, although do tend to leave cabs & the combo at rehearsal spaces etc. while the pedal board stays fairly constant.

    ...certainly counting to nine works with the timing we did it in. RE my earlier comment, I should probably point out I pretty much nailed the root notes for each guitar chord played by the worship leader, it was just the juicy "organist" bass notes and walks that took me a couple verses to work out!

    No rogue Trombonists this morning, and pleasingly everything went fine despite the band only having a very short run through before the service. I mentioned to the worship leader that not having a weekday practice was the way ahead - he said maybe... Thus said we did the classic hymn "blessed assurance" (in 9/8) and it was only by the last verse that I had worked out the whole bass line!

    ...maybe not as harmful as a trombone or flute, but my daughter likes to play an egg shaker and be "in the band". She sits on the floor next to me (when the rest of the family are not there) but cunningly positioned on the otherside of the drumscreen to the drummer(s) so they can't hear it!

    For years I was in churches where the band only quickly went through the songs once each before the service. My current church normally rehearses on Friday nights which I do resent as the purpose seems to be more about confidence for one or two people rather than the actual music. Indeed often the Friday night is a bit of a disaster as people are a bit tired and just want to get through it all, but Sunday is always fine! My suspicion is that if people didn't worry about it until Sunday morning they would be less anxious... afterall most Christian songs are more or less the same... This week no one was available on Friday so finally we are just going to go for it on Sunday morning - hopefully it will be no different to normal and thus ditching the Friday practice might finally be on the cards!

    ...unless there is a specific drive sound in the pre-amp of your main amp that you need for practicing, I would forget the amp for practicing and just use an audio interface into a computer. However, if you want the sound of the pre-amp a little mixer like the Behringer Xenyx should do the job as you can adjust the level coming in from the effects send of the amp, and then use the headphone socket on the mixer. You can also pipe in whatever backing track you want to play to using one of the other (stereo) channels. Also if you decide not to use your amp the bass can just go straight into the line in.

    Well this proves that when people say "yes but can he play in a band?"... well yes he can and better than the rest of us! Quite an interesting video just to hear his thought process: "when there's fewer chords there's more riding on your bassline ability... it's just Am to D and a bridge..."

    The problem in my place is the sound team are not there because they like doing it, but rather because there is no one else to do it. As such they are only concerned that "any" sound coming out, not getting a good mix. The digital desk helps to a certain extent as we can pre-set a mix and also on occasion fiddle with things through a remote ipad, but it is far from ideal. As far as being heard goes, if I don't think I am in the mix one week I bring an extra cab the next week, and the next, and the next... until they get the hint 😎 \m/ !

    ...as long as the sound engineer knows what they are doing IEMs are great. If they don't - as is the case for 90% of the times I play - an amp is still necessary (and as I said above I always bring one just in case). I also have to admit I like the look of my stage rig... it makes me smile.

    I'm sorry to hear that - mind you I hope you symbolically sawed one of your guitars in half on stage instead of leading worship to make the point, as one of the (ex)worship leaders at my previous church did. Many years later I still very much respect him for doing that!

    I've had two 3-EQ 4 string Stingrays - identical apart from colour and one is fretless (with flat wounds) - for approaching 25 years. They both play and sound solid and are reliable (give or take the battery wire design issue). Of course I play plenty of other basses in shops, owned by others etc., and I bought my kids a short scale Ibanez P/J style which is fine, but nothing is quite as solid and familiar as the Stingrays. Would I buy 16 HB's (or 32 as I have two Stingrays) - of course not! I can't see what 32 HB's would give me apart from storage issues!

    I'd let them play my rig but would watch them like a hawk. Then afterwards I'd offer to loan one of my seldom used (and cheap) basses, telling them they will have to work their way up to one of my Stingrays and not to expect to borrow it again! Mind you if it was my electric guitar rig I would refuse as it's too complicated for someone to just walk up and use without having a bit of understanding - or if I was feeling mischievous I would put my Freq-out on it's minimum sensitivity and then sit back to watch the fun... but that might be a bit mean...

    Out of interest how loud is the fan? I sold one recently as the fan was a bit of an issue at all but gigging volumes.

    I was just about to start naming my top three (Ampeg SVT, Fender Bassman, Trace GP12) and then saw the "for gigging". For me the big difference is weight as the above three are back breaking and an arse to get to gigs. Hence mine are: Genz Benz Shuttle 6 Aguilar TH500 Ashdown Retroglide 800
