1. Ah, thanks LDTF and CB, I'll give the Dunlops a miss and try lower riders
2. Sound checks are fine, until the set actually begins and the drummer plays harder and the guitarist turns up the volume. Then the problems start
3. Thanks Discreet and Lozz, I was thinking about the low riders, I may well give them a go. I was offered a set today but missed them while at work - can't have it all I suppose The Jim Dunlops seem to be getting some good press lately, they may be worth a shot too. Anyone tried them ? Cheers all
4. Hi all Setting up a jazz bass at the moment. I've put 45 -105 Fat beams on, but they seem a little too flappy for this bass Does anyone know of strings that are slightly higher tension than Fat beams ? I'm hoping that a little more tension will allow a slightly lower action I called Strings Direct today and they recommended either Ernie Balls, Dunlop marcus millers or rotosound. They did say they didn't have much experience around this enquiry and suggested asking around forums may give more information So here we are... Any ideas folks ? Thanks in advance all
5. Must admit I thoroughly sympathise with the OP. I'm currently thinking about quitting my band because of volume issues and finding another genre of music to play, as I find it difficult to cope with the volume. Can't hear the harmonies well and I'm straining my voice because I can't hear my singing properly with the sheer intensity of the noise. On top of that, it drives away the punters who would potentially book a band if they weren't soooo bloody loud. It's just not necessary to play at wembley stadium levels when you're playing in a shoe box
6. I bought a CS six string and a CS eight string from this very forum, both very good basses They were two instruments from a one- off selection of eight imports into this country. No more ever came (as far as I know). That's got to bit a little rare ?
7. Just a quick note of appreciation for Frank, who stepped up out of the blue to offer a helpful contact. No, I didn't buy anything from him (this time), it's just my way of saying 'thank you' for someone that went of their way to help someone else Good fella !
8. I did a three hour gig with no breaks last night and by the end of the night my left shoulder was on fire. I thought 'must get a lighter bass' and straight away thought of this one
9. This is a lot of monitor in good condition for £60.00 y'know

17. Hi all From the original ad on BC; 13 x 400 x 400mm (I think) wedge acoustic treatment tiles. Approx 2in thick. Polyurethane fire retardant. I purchased these tiles a while ago, with ideas of turning my living room into a better practice area. With one thing and another, I never got around to it and now I've finally decided I actually prefer having a living room ! So it's time to pass them on for someone else to use. They are unused. I'd imagine postage will be something like £10.00 at a guess. Thanks all
18. I have a cab just like that - my little darling tore the *rse out of it !. I tried gluing it down, but it just looked like hair plastered down with Brylcreem (anyone remember that ?) On the topic of cats and cabs; I placed my cabs near the door ready to load out to the car, when my kitten crept into the sound port and sat there in the cab, looking out at me. I had to dismantle the cab to get the kitten out and ended up late for the gig. Happy days
