1. Everyone has their own motives and agendas for owning instruments, each to his own. OP -your initial question revealed that you wern't in a position to make a decision that you are comfortable with. Maybe not enough info available yet ? If finances aren't driving the agenda, why not wait until you are sure about what to do ? would it hurt to hold onto it until then ?
2.
Wayne is going to mug you
Almost folded over the desk when I read this
3. Crackin' amps these. Mine hasn't let me down yet and it would probably outlast me too. Good luck with the sale
4. A left field one - make sure you are hydrated enough for the gig and have some water handy while playing. Wouldn't hurt to gradually build up your playing stamina to train your muscles to cope with the task.
5. Forgive me posting twice, but I couldn't let a disco thread go past without these. I could go on all day at this one
6. Oh Goody, I get to do these ! Great thread Clarky, it's kicked my Sunday morning right into gear Got to work a disco set into the band set list somehow, keep promising myself this !!
7. I swapped a Jap strat for a Westone ThunderIII in the early 90's, (definately came off better from that deal !) it has a through neck with a beautiful 'C' shape. It's a bit on the heavy side, but I'll stay in my collection for years to come. I did have a black Thunder 1A fretless on loan for a while - one of the meanest basses I've ever seen, georgeous.
8. Taken some time to get this list together and it will change next week, but for now Jack Bruce Paul McCartney James Jamerson Jaco Pastorius Bernie Edwards Jet Harris Trevor Boulder (Ok, that's more than 5, but can't whittle it down fairly)
9.
Jack Bruce at a Sunday evening pub gig out in the Suffolk sticks. Brown trouser time as we were a typical '60s blues band.
I've been playing in front of audiences pretty much daily through my teens and fairly frequently as an adult, but the thought of playing in front of Jack Bruce would fill me with butterflies ! Did a charity fundraiser with a few of the cast from the TV show 'The Bill'. A woman in the audience pledged £100 to see a fella do the full monty on stage as he stood there at the mic. He gave me a look that would kill when I started the bass line as I stood next to him
10. The other night the drummer and guitarist started singing this one in the break. I hadn't heard it in ages and couldn't really remember it well enough to busk it, so I promised to have a listen for the next time. What a nice tune. Oh yes it is........ and then there's this........ http://youtu.be/S0YhVOsNAf0 Slumps in the chair at the thought of how long it would take me to learn to play it like that...
11. If the bass was recently repaired at status, it probably wouldn't hurt to give them a call ? That may be a fruitful way forward. All the best T
12. And you're looking after a shop full of basses ? Danger danger danger !!!!
13. If you're feeling ok to experiment, you can try the advice given by the Fishman website for dealing with this type of problem installing their piezo pickups. They recommend placing paper shims between the underside of the bridge and the piezo pickup itself, strategically placing them under the quiet strings, thereby creating better contact to even out the string volume. They say you may have to fold thin bits of paper in places to create the appropriate thickness shim. Note this solution is based on the assumption that there are uneven gaps between the underside of the bridge and the piezo pickup, leading to uneven string volume. It's also assuming the piezo contacts are working up to spec. BTW, are you using factory spec. string gauges on this bass ? Hope you get it sorted.
14. Times we've heard that one.... only went in for some strings.... Fatal Having said that, I wouldn't mind a classic vibe precision to add to my herd, nice bass mmmmmm Congrats on the new bass and welcome to the forum !
15.
Nasty lisp you have there..
Erm.....

18. Have an assessment with a BAPAM practiioner. They can analyse what's going on and advise accordingly. Also, as Bilbo says, watch out for other daily activities that can give rise to wrist tendonitis. A google search will throw up lists of usual suspects.
