1. John, I was banging my head trying to find the correct case for my Yamaha CPX900, then you came along with the perfect solution to the problem. What's more, the case is in great condition too at a nice price. Thanks to you, I'm one happy bunny. Cheers John
2. Seashell - you're not the only one thinking this, it's been hanging around my thoughts as well. In view of the number of comments saying things like "it must be your browser /settings etc, I can only report what I'm seeing. For me, the avatars appear to be universally smaller and some of them portray less than the complete image. The lettering under the avatars, time info above the posts and script in my mailbox etc is a light grey, which doesn't contrast very easily with the dulux brilliant white background. In general, these features tend to make the new webpages less of an easy read compared to the old website.
3. OK, just checked this privacy issue. I was able to read BC members profiles without being logged in, so details are open to the web. Any comments on this PED ?
4.
Reputation system? Where? I must have missed it Looks good, clean and tidy and all. My only concern is that non-members seem to be able to access our profiles and info that was previously not visible to the outside world.
Anyone following up this privacy issue ? havn't checked it personally (as still finding my way around). Thanks for pointing this out Marvin.
5. Now on hold .....
6. Last minute gig has just been dropped on me, so I'm going to have to miss this one. Have fun all
7. That has got to be the nicest W thumb I've seen. Shame I can't afford it....
8. Q+A sessions with the girlfriend going through the key signiatures naming the notes of the intervals ? i.e. tonic to 5th in key of three flats, third to sixth in same key, taking it one scale at a time.
9. A slightly left field solution for this one is to learn (to performance standard) a number of pieces in the same key, on an wind instrument, such as the trombone ? This approach eliminates the issue of playing by position on a bass fretboard. Also, thinking about pitching the note to hit it accurately with a wind instrument involves some understanding of the scale interval to get there from the note you've just played. This approach usually does involve the reading of musical scores however......... Learn pieces in the key of C to begin with, then one flat, one sharp etc and analysing each scale as you go. This may be a long winded (!) approach, but the reward will be the accrued depth of understanding.
10. Guitar God !! If I get known for playing guitar, it'll only be for the crowd laughting / groaning at my attempts - Who played that bum note ? My bass will always come first !!!! It was great to meet you too Neil. At least I know that bass is going to a good home, it really is a nice one that eh ? You're always welcome for a cuppa if you're down this neck of the woods
11. Seem to be following a trend here...... Met Neil for a cuppa on the M1. Oh, he bought my Yamaha Bex as well Bless 'im ! Might as well have been in the pub, as we had a good chat about all sorts. Neil, you have an interesting version of the term 'house band' ! Good to meet you and hope she serves you well All the best Tom As the record says "We'll be safe with this one lads"
12. So been wondering... When the topic of SM58's come up, it's only a matter of time before someone mentions the chinese, inferior copies. I've been wondering, how do you recognise a fake from the real thing ? can you tell from appearance alone ? Cheers !
13. Boy it's quiet around here......
14. If only I had that kind of money to hand ........
15. Congrats Al. More hard skin on the fingertips around the corner !
16. Really helpful guys ! Looks like this project might get off the ground yet Cheers all
17. On hold
18.
Cheers guys, all good advice, I do know the player and as far as I know he is a decent enough guy. My problem are: Will a Double Bass push my rig too hard? It is unlikely that another player will leave my settings alone (which is what happened to my trace) Why should I take the risk?
Seems like we've all offered our own 2p's worth here. Returning to YOUR situation, I get the sense from your post above that you have some reservations about lending your rig. Your third comment seems to indicate you may be feeling some obligation here though, which is making you question your instincts. It's your decision at the end of the day, but if you're not comfortable with the situation, why go ahead with it ? Best of luck whatever happens.
19.
This place seems reasonable http://www.tonetechluthiersupplies.co.uk/v....html?TreeId=12
That looks like an excellent start ! Thanks tommorichards ! Jack, I should have known someone would do that, but it still made me laugh ! Mr. Foxen, yes you're right, it's not worth going overboard on this project. It's my first attempt at doing this sort of repair to a guitar. I'm confident doing fret dressing and a refret or two, but this is a step into the unknown, so something of a voyage of discovery really. Could be interesting
