Great to meet you too Peted. Also Garry (lowdown), Dave.C, Pete Young and the Phantom. Also a big thank you to Les (Dusty) for organising the use of the studio for the day and supplying a Markbass rig for us to use. That tiny Status certainly grabs the attention ! just the thing to take here and there without a weightlifting course beforehand. Also a nice surprise playing Dave C's Vigier - a real balance of tone and volume across and up the neck. 'Twas a nice gathering, with plenty of time and space to listen to equipement and listen to subtleties of tone etc, a really welcome change to events such as the London Bass show at Olympia. Hardly any slapping all day Thanks all for a great way to spend the day. Good to meet more BC'ers ! Cheers all Tom

Frequently played a guitar at home for years and years, but came to gig with one a year or two ago and found I still thought as a bassist as a band member. Could easily pick out each guitar part at home and recorded heaps with guitar , but couldn't busk on my feet in real time. I still pulled my gun like a bass player, every time Guess it's payback for every time I've sat back expecting a predictable outcome when guitarists pick up a bass and say "It's only got four strings, got to be easy".

I'll gladly step out of everyone else's way for suggestions about other things to be getting on with. But I would look twice at the simultaneous goals of increasing strength, dexterity and speed. Endurance, dexterity and speed would perhaps be a slightly happier mix. That said, do you have any specific areas or regions of the body you wish to strengthen ? i.e the hand ? Is your hand weak as it stands ? If you do wish to strengthen the hand, be careful to strengthen the muscles that release the fingers to the same degree as you strengthen the muscles that grip, or your finger release speed may be influenced. I'll play Starting off with the warm ups seems to be a general winner a lot of the time, but after that, would it not be beneficial to go for goal specific stuff ? at least this will lend itself to adopting some method of assessing areas of improvement, which will help with motivation. I'm sure many others will add to this big time.

My MK IV is definately has a Peavey sound (apologies for lack of clarity here for those that havn't heard a few different Peaveys'), but that said, the tone shaping stages are very effective. For ideas around biamping, the owners manual gives full explanations and is available from the Peavey website. They do come up from time to time and generally for under £100. Awesome for the money.
