2. Get a Classic Vibe P bass as a starter, then modify that with John East gear, or something else, perhaps offboard DI box of some kind ? May be a little over £250, but the CV is a really nice place to start from
3.
Hmmmm, now then, theres a challenge hahahaha. We have touched on that tune. I may try it out with tthe singing too.
I should have added playing the bass and singing it simultaneously, of course !
4. Has that been seen here before ? seems familiar
5. Sing and play simultaneously every gig and miss it when I don't sing while playing. As others have said here, it's a skill that comes with practice. That said, I did find singing the lead vocal on the Chilli's Suck My Kiss a real challenge. Worked on it for months T
6. Could this be the start of a trend for slide bass style ? Take a fretless !!
7. Thanks for minding the store for us all Hamster. S'appreciated. T
8. To the OP; Just a thought - have you heard your own bass from the distance the audience hear it ? is it possible that sound may be different to the sound experienced up close to the rig ?
9. What a joy to listen to. I'd like to hear some of the digital age 'rock stars' attempt something like that
10. It used to be Quo's Rocking All Over The World. That was until I changed the straight quavers into crochets and quavers and played the emphasis a little off the beat, which made the whole thing groove a bit. The rest of the band said they all enjoyed it too A turned upside down into a

I'll be bringing 2 x GS112's, so there may be a chance for some A/B'ing ? T
12. Nice collection, what's the one with the small body on the end ? Thanks for sharing cheers T
13. Yes, thanks Rowbee, the Sa450 is a great amp. A small group of us did some A/B'ing at the Anglia Bash earlier this year and found the Markbass amp was the happiest pairing with the Barefaced cab with the available gear there, which backs up your findings. There was also an American Eden WT400 traveller on hand, which produced the thicker kind of sounds I prefer. The Sa450 is definately a great amp with a wide tonal range, it's just taken a few bass bashes for me to realise it's not the type of sound that I really like at the moment It's also just been mentioned to me that the Sa450 is a class A/B amp, not a class D. Thanks for the info. Cheers T
14. As it says up front, is anyone interested in trading an American Eden WT400 traveller amp for my Markbass Sa450 ? I've gone down the Class D amp route and the more I listen to those type of sounds, the more I'm convinced that type of thing is really not for me at the moment or in the near future. Fine amps, but just not my kind of thing. My Sa450 is in good condition and comes with rack ears. There's some wriggle room around cash either way or possible trading something or other (such as a rack case) to help with the deal. That said, I'm not looking to give the Sa450 away just to get the Eden... There was a WT400 around here recently that went for the mid £400 mark and the Sa450's regularly go for around £400 or close, so they're more or less even (ish), perhaps a little more for the Eden. I'd be willing to travel a distance to do a swap and trial both amps, so hopefully happy bunnies all round Anyone interested ? Thanks for reading everyone, hope your next gig is a good'n T
15. Anyone notice any problems with Marcus Miller Fat Beams ? I've had two sets so far with no issues, but this thread does make me wonder about buying more
16. If the gig was just a bit closer to London, I'd definately come along. Hope the gig's a blast though
17. congrats on getting back in the saddle
18. Why is it these always come up when I havn't got the money ? it would go so well in my collection, but the bank says no Good luck with the sale T
19.
As the curtain rises, we see a bewigged man in knee britches. He is sat at a piano, a pile of manuscript towering over his head. (FX: A phone rings) Mozart: Hello, Mozart Music. How can I help you? Bishop of Salzburg: Mozart? Mozart: Yes, Mozart here. Bishop of Salzburg: It is I, your patron, the Bishop of Salzburg. Mozart: Hello, Derek, how can I help? Bishop of Salzburg: Herr Mozart, I vant zum lyrics in zis symphony you are writing for me. Mozart: You asked for a symphony, not an opera. Bishop: Can't I have lyrics in mein symphony vot I am paying you for? Mozart: No. Then it would be an opera and that costs double. Bishop: Vy? Mozart: To pay for a librettist. Bishop: Can't you do it yourself? Mozart: I'm a composer, not a librettist. Look, I'm busy here mein old mate. Do you want this symphony or not? It's a good one. Bishop: Vell .... Are you sure you can't put some words in? Mozart: Not for the same money. Bishop: Vot vould I get for the same money? With words. Mozart: Couple of songs. Maybe three. Bishop: That's not much. Mozart: Well, how about three songs and a clarinet divertimento? Bishop: Mmmmm. No. I'll stick with the symphony. OK - aufwiederhoren. Mozart (to himself): F***ing numpty punters
Try it with a Russian accent, best laugh I've had today ! (better stop, they'll think my hinges have come off again)
20. Strangely enough, a decent strap. If my shoulder's in burning pain, it's hard to hide it from the audience all the time. Oh, and a reliable car (boring, but true). Other stuff is preferential, but it must be reliable Then of course, there's all the supporting hardware, like spare stings, batteries, pain meds, ear plugs, etc, all of which contributes to being a reliable journeyman musician. Thinking further about that, if your complete kit contributes to building a good reputation (which in turn gets you work), is not your complete kit essential ? I dare say not everyone will agree with me, it's only my 2p's worth. Not a boring thread at all Marvin T
21. Like Skanky, my first guitar(s) WERE plastic ! but then again, I was only 4 - 5 years old and kept breaking them. Took years of badgering to get Dad to buy me a real wooden one. It came from Woolworths and was the 'Audition' one pickup model. Swapped it 6 months later for a short scale Vox bass, which I still own, bless it
22. And yet more good stuff for Rick, who sold me a Line 6 Pod, which arrived in great condition at a very nice price ! Recommended folks ! Cheers Rick Tom
