I'm gathering a list of current contenders for venues. If I've missed something out, please add it or PM me and I'll edit. In no particular order: - Friern Barnet (posted by molan) - Creekside studios (posted by bloodaxe) - Wood Green (Posted by jacklondon) I'm looking into this some more when I have a mo Cheers T
The last item on the voting agenda is the venue. Can everyone that has suggested a venue please gather as much info as possible ? the time for the final decisions is approaching fast !!!! I'll send out a few PM's in case this thread isn't looked at by the folk involved. Anyone that would like to add venue suggestions, can you please post them soon Cheers T

Hi all Apologies if this one's been done before folks. Did a search, but the comments that came up seemed to be incidental to other topics, so here goes. What are the general guidlines on ventilation ? I've noticed people commenting on how they have cut holes in their cases, fitted grills, left gaps etc. When do you need to leave gaps for ventilation ? when do you need to create holes for ventilation ? Is it more important to leave holes for valve amps ? Do solid state amps need extra ventilation holes ? I'm just really curious about the hole thing really. What's the general opinion ? The reason why I ask is, since joining B.C last year, I have succumbed to GAS (I know, I read the warnings). The current situation is: I'm looking to load up my very first 4u aluminium rack case and I'm concerned about having adequate ventilation for a Markbass Sa450 and an Ampeg B2RE, both of which take up 2u each. The Markbass has fan and ventilation openings on each side of the amp, at the back. The Ampeg has a fan and vent openings all at the back. The Ampeg has been mounted in the bottom of the rack, being the heavier of the two by far. To mount the Markbass in on top, I'll have to detach the rubber feet from the bottom of the amp for the mounting holes to line up. I'm not keen on the amps being that close together without some padding between the two. In order to create some protection padding between the two amps, I intend to fix some felt grommets that usually glue to the bottom of chair legs (to prevent wood/floor contact ). Hopefully, that will prevent the two amps clashing in transit and minimise the leverage on the mounting lugs at the front. On the ventilation topic, is the gap down the sides of the Sa450 that is created by the dimensions of the rack ears sufficient for efficient ventilation, bearing in mind the airflow turns through 90 degrees, or would it be better to add holes and / or vent grills on the sides of the rack case to allow a more direct airflow ? BY the way. I'll only be running one amp at a time. The rig will be running through 2 GS 1x12's. I'd appreciate everyone's thoughts please thanks all. B.C. is a great place Cheers T

Guitarist tunes between numbers - what to do?
essexbasscat replied to OldGit's topic in General Discussion
Have played in bands that develop contingency plans for the times that things go wrong i.e strings break, need tuning or someone falls over etc There's heaps of songs out there for all kinds of formulae from duet to however many you like on stage. Just because one person dives out, it doesn't mean the show don't go on !!!! T what about the can -can for when a fight breaks out ? (usually in the audience, unless you're doing a Who tribute) -
The vote is in and it's ......... Sat = 7 votes (24.14%) Sun = 11 votes (37.93%) Both = 11 votes (37.92%) So, we could say that either sat or sun wins, but as more people went for sun by itself, can we agree to choose Sunday ? No doubt someone can come up with a very convincing reason for saturday, but in the interests of moving this project along, it may be best to just go for one. ok ? cheers T

Saw Clint Eastwood's film the Enforcer last night, yet again, and found myself, yet again, following the jazz music in the chase scene quite closely. It routinely alternates between 4/4 and 3/4, with a bass line following what seems to be quavers, (or playing very quickly double time to the count). they were very able musicians and the bass line sounded like it was done on double bass. the bassist's hands and arms must have needed the fire brigade after that one. Does anyone know who recorded it ? cheers T

By the way, just so everyone knows where the end of this voting lark is - once the BIG decisions have been made, the voting will stop and I'll drop into another gear. Just in case anyone was wondering........ Look for the, bare necessities, the simple bare necessities .... T
Actually, I wanted a second 212. The honest reason I got a 115 was because I got it uber cheap from a friend who was selling off his second rig and I paid next to nothing for it. I actually played through just the 115 the other day though and was very impressed by it's top end response thanks to the tweeter and huge bottom. In honesty it's still a suitable stand alone can. None of this '15's are really bottomy' rubbish!. I'd part with the 115 for another 212 though, just for the sake of matching them up!
if you get rid of that 1x15 neo shep, give me a shout first mate T

Ok folks The topic of venue cost has been raised, so I've put a vote table at the top of the page. Please indicate if you are prepared to pay or not by voting accordingly. This way, we will all be able to see if the venue cost can be covered, in theory. We've got to decide these things to make this happen folks. In this place, your votes really do count, so vote vote vote. It's your bash B.C., so let's hear from you. T PS I've opened up this thread to enable a vote to take place on cost, as apparently, you can't vote on two topics on the same thread, if I'm reading this correctly. T
-
Aha ! that would be the problem then ! I'll open up another thread thanks for the heads up T edit: voting table has been amended back to it's original form
Luckily all the basses & double basses I own are very nice, but there is one lurking around that I rebuilt a while ago... At first you see a white Precision with a bit of "mojo" to it... Then you look at the headstock... AAARRRGGGH!!!
that's the first good laugh I've had all afternoon ! T

As it says on the tin, please check the main thread for costs associated with setting up the venue. As before, I'm arranging theses notices to avoid people missing the developments on a long thread thanks for looking T
Opening bid from the school for hiring the main hall with a caretaker on hand is about £30 an hour. Sounds a bit steep to me?
£30.00 / hr x 8 hrs = £240.00 That's £10.00 head for 24 people. What's the general opinion folks ?? It's up to you B.C. - let's hear your thoughts on this one please. T

Nice one Ian all being well with the planned schedule, the date should be nailed down by the end of the first week in April, as I intend to allow one week for venue voting unless anyone objects / comes up with an alternative plan to works well. T
