as an update I sold the P (boo!) cos I was really digging playing my fretless ray. ive since moved that on and reignited my p bass love with a nate mendel sig. its great through my orange terror bass and is ideal for rock & punky numbers. Im now thinking of another P with flats. My amp set up at the time wasn't doing it justice but I realise the error of my ways. you jus can beat a good old P bass!
This is my YOB Bass and my fav colour scheme but dont think id trust myself with it in some of the rough houses we play in. Belting bass at a good price glwts wish I had the funds...
Just bought a Nate Mendel Sig P Bass from Mike. Seemless transaction, bass arrived when he said, packed superbly and great comms all the way. Do business with confidence
Im thinking of buying a jv at the min. But its a solid finish. Were they all definitely alder. My jap silver series was basswood. Good as it was at the time if im shelling out I want the real deal in body woods. Any way to tell before you buy?

Any interest in an early 80s MIJ Ibanez Roadstar?
Cheers
[/quote]good man cheers. I can be a bit thick sometimes
I used a 4 stringer fretless ray as my main gigging bass for about 18 months and it was the business. Really fancy trying a sterling but too short of cash at the min, bump for good looking bass
I recognise that damage to the edge below the jack! Think this was my first ever bass bought new in rushworths Liverpool in the early 90s and sold (foolishly) on ebay after 100s of gigs. The mark is where I moved the jack to the edge then realised what a fool I'd been I moved it back and had the hole filled :-) think there's pics of me with it at www.thebuckets.co.uk shame I didn't see this sooner I might have brought her home. Whoever gets it its a belter
+1 for unlined I had an unlined stingray and it was my main gigging bass for 2 yrs -lovely tone.
The ebony board on this will be sweet and will laugh at a roundwounds attemp to dig in
