  1. At work I’ve dealt with DHL (“Dispatch It, Hide It, Lose It”), UPS (we all know the acronym @Dood came up with!), TNT (“Totally Not Trustworthy”), DPD, DX, Tufnell, Parcelfarce..... blah blah. They all have good days and bad. Parcelfarce once delivered £10k worth of bespoke equipment to a front garden. UPS went through a phase of not collecting. DX couldn’t find a customer with whom we’d been dealing for 30 years. Everyone is human and it sounds in the OP’s case the the driver has apologised which is good, but sometimes the customer service can feel exasperating. It’d be nice if all these courier woes needed happily really!
  2. Beautiful
  3. Yes. Perhaps a variable one, but if not then a Thumpinator-style HPF would be fine.
  4. This. You can make it sound quite old school very easily! If you do find a suitable new amp and need to offload the Walkabout, please please PM me
  5. This is going to be a stunner! Alan’s basses are superb
  6. If I were gigging more than I am then I think I’d have had that by now!
  7. Very nice! I heard you talking about this on PR last week sometime so it’s great to see these pics, even if the strap and trainers clash with the bass itself 🤓😜 I’ve only ever played a Ric once and loved its clang and the neck but like you failed to get on with it for fingerstyle. Perseverance is the key I’m sure 🙂
  8. There’s a serious part of me wondering whether Alan could make a second neck in 32” flavour for this. Its body woods are remarkably close to a spec I’ve been cooking up, albeit a 4 not a 5.
  9. Lovely!
  10. Your first post says you have two speaker outs on the amp? Should be fine
  11. I never had an issue with it! The panels are interchangeable but it’s a bit of a bugger to do so I haven’t bothered
  12. I concur. They’ve replaced things, fixed things, generally been good eggs whenever I go in or need help.
  13. Yeah it irked me tbh when it became clear that I was the least important member! Being a band designed to entertain kids it isn’t as loud as a normal band but still makes little sense. I guess their thinking is that the left hand of the keys can handle low end duties...
  14. I am in exactly the same boat in the kids band I play in. Normally a 5 piece, they have a sliding pricing scale of duo (vocals and either guitar or keys), trio, quartet (add in the drums) or quintet with me. I reckon I do about 30% of their gigs. Our situation is of course a bit different - charging over £500 for a full band for a kid’s 8th birthday is probably a bit steep for most (even here in Surrey 😜) hence the sliding scale, I just find it quite irritating that the bass is the first to be dropped. If there’s a date I can’t do they don’t always bother getting a dep, they just take more money each! So... I know how you feel. I’ve just decided to suck it up. Until I hit 40 and quit because it’ll be a bit weird
  15. Edit - thodrik is correct
  16. My fault for being arty farty with the black and white picture haha! I prefer the old chrome front panel, the new one looks cheaper (to me).
  17. The RM series really is very good IMO, I’m glad you liked it
  18. This. I have owned four ACGs, three of which I commissioned. I still have two of those commissions and only sold the other to fund some cash flow issues really. I have a list of about 5 ACG specs I’d like Alan to build me at some point 🤣 Currently, though, Mike at Zoot is working on a Funkmeister custom - essentially a Jazz-type bass for me in a more traditional flavour than Alan’s (superb) builds - including solid paint finish and passive electronics for example. I’ve also conceived at least two more Zoot Funkmeisters in my head 😳🙄
  19. It’s been covered many times before, the difference between the output and 8 and 4 ohms is so negligible as to be moot, it is the extra speaker area which is making it produce more volume
  20. Awesome, that makes a lot of sense! Did the original 500s have the metal screening inside like the original 800s? I remember reading somewhere that it wasn’t actually necessary but you did it to “over engineer” the EMC essentially, same for the fan and cooling..?
  21. I think the EVO ii is lighter because they’ve removed the metal screening inside which screened the power module. The original 800 certainly had that and the 500 EVO ii certainly doesn’t. I wonder if the front panel change is lighter as well. Quite how that adds up to 2kg is beyond me still though hehe
  22. I refer you again to my first post in this topic
  23. Cool. I’m not a million miles away but it’s still a fair old trek for either of us. If you’re ever passing through Surrey give me a shout
  24. Whereabouts are you? Sure someone close by has one you can try
  25. Hello BCers! Is one of you perchance Paul from the function band Monotones? Saw you at Gabrielle and Danny’s wedding on Saturday at the Normans near York and thought you were cracking (and said so to you afterwards!). Your playing was ace and your Overwater/Genzler/Vanderkley gear combination sounded ace
