  1. Can’t wait to try/hear this amp in the flesh (somehow!). It looks absolutely bob on what I want in an all valve head. Not that I need it, but that’s another story haha
  2. I agree. If I had PA backup I wouldn’t have pushed mine so hard. The fact I know I can use it without PA to me is a good thing, though I do think if that were the norm then I’d avoid it! As a backup it’s perfect for my “loud” gigging situations and for my “less loud” situations I can use it as the main head if I want to
  3. It’s a great little head isn’t it? I gigged one a couple of weeks back with my BF SC, no PA support, and it just got on with it. There wasn’t really any headroom left but it didn’t sound like it was struggling at all, was really very nice. It has a warmer, more musical limiter than the GK MB200 IMO.
  4. That’s a shame, I quite like a bit of Mr Big and thought you were doing a subtle homage to their drummer who just passed away! But now I will go and watch the Blackstar video 😃
  5. Cracking link to a Mr Big video!
  6. Currently using an ABM500, which I picked up for very very little off eBay as it was advertised as an Ash Down Made the pain of losing the CTM easier. One day I’ll have a CTM100 again, at the moment quite looking forward to getting my mitts on the CTM30 Little Stubby though 😇
  7. I don’t actually have a CTM100 at the moment (cash flow issues forced me to sell) but it’s been paired with a Barefaced Super Compact, 2 BF SCs or an Ashdown VS212 in the past. Bloody glorious with all of them.
  8. Quite possibly @Al Krow - I will happily share my thoughts if that’s the case. I’ve said it a few times on this thread alread that the CTM100 is my favourite bass amp ever so the Handbox will have a lot to live up to
  9. Cool, I'm there on the Saturday too with MiniMert, will make sure I say hello!
  10. I agree, a CTM100 Stubby gets my order immediately
  11. Mark Gooday has said a lot about it on Facebook, the transformers were their biggest challenge but they’re confident they’ve got it right. Apparently it’s vaguely based on the CTM30/Little bastard but with a revised preamp IIRC
  12. I have already emailed my preorder to Ashdown 😳
  13. Very cool! Definitely want to try this baby out
  14. Love these!
  15. Especially the bit about hugging I hope. 😂 (now edited my original post, boring)
  16. Sorry for the delay in replying, been manic! When I had the CTM100 I gigged it with either one or two Barefaced Super Compact cabs or an Ashdown VS212. All these cabs are quite efficient, but I never had a completely clean tone (nor was I aiming for one). Two Super Compacts was the best though in terms of volume and clarity and I would dearly love to have that rig again. One day maybe...

    Rig help

Ashdown amp - there’s an ABM 500 EVO II on the classifieds here for a very good price Barefaced cab - probably a Two10 or if it can stretch to it a Four10. Boom. Plummy punch with some grit.
  18. I do believe these were designed by Paul Stevens (of Trace Elliot V8 and 2005 relaunch fame) though I may be wrong!
  19. Nice! The Elf is a cracking little toy isn’t it
  20. I hope so, I’m talking to Adrian about a nice little 32” Elwood at the moment
  21. Never got into Revolt as much as Pure but this thread has reminded me to go listen to them again! I remember seeing them in Leeds when they reformed, Chris McCormack had a massive strop because the other guitarist basically gave up playing as he couldn’t hear himself. That was fun! Gonna go find their albums now...
  22. I’ll join the trip too please, many goodies I’d like to steal ahem try out
  23. Happy to be corrected! I was completely ambiguously referring to the ABM series when I said about final assembly, I know your (bloody lovely) valve amps are all hand built in Essex still 👍🏻
  24. After you please Gareth, if possible!
