1.
when did detachable 3x10 become daft? 16x10 is daft....
Shh, I'm calling it daft in case the Missus is reading it
2. It's not about power but about the ability to drive three 8 ohm cabs with a bit of margin for error really. It's part of a daft mid-term plan I have to make an uber modular rig with One10s
3.
Because the WA can do 2-ohms, it got me wondering about the R-400, so I asked Leszek if it was possible: 'Not as it is, but for 50€ we can do modification on 2Ohm, no problem.'
Ooooooooh
4.
Yep, the WA will happily do 2ohm. But, if you can live without the 2ohm or active EQ, look no further than the Handbox R-400.
Ah wicked. The Handbox is what started this train of thought - I almost messaged you to ask about the two ohm thing!
5. Doesn't do 2 ohms I don't think, but that is exactly the thing I mean. Good work sire!
6. I have clearly got too much time on my hands so I've come up with my dream bass amp. It's pretty silly really otherwise someone would have already done it... Class A/B power section, old school power supply, min 400W Form factor a la Eden WT550 or Ashdown CTM30 (i.e. small and narrow but not necessarily lightweight!) All valve preamp - running at proper plate voltages please Keep it simple with gain (with the ability to get some lovely dirt if needed), three or four band active EQ, volume Min speaker load 2 ohms (yes...) Preferably with an aux in and headphone out but these aren't paramount Who wants to build me one then
7. Sold Tim a fourth little cab, and as always he was a gent to deal with and very prompt payer. Many thanks

Well actually Saturday was NCD: I went to the London Bass Guitar Show and was blown away by Barefaced's little One10 so snapped one up at the show discount price. Just destroyed my ears (and probably any friendly relationship with next door) having a proper blast at home. A fantastic little cab and it works brilliantly with my ABM head. The overhang will be an issue for many so I won't post a pic, you all know what the little black and silver box looks like!
10. I now know who you are and next time I see you you will be "Zebra bass man"
11.
About the knitting exhibition - I heard it was so-so...
...Groan!
12.
Hey guys and girls, I was the guy on the Shuker stand helping Jon out. Thanks a million to all of you that came to have a chat and have a play of the basses - although a combination of the guys on Rhinegold stand and some slightly unbalanced decisions by the noise police made trying things out a bit difficult, despite the loan of a brilliant little Barefaced cab (I now know what I'm buying next!). The turquoise bass must have been the most photographed bass in the show and even caught the attention of a certain Mr Ellefson who came over to have a look - thanks to Dood! I'm sure you'll all be delighted to know that it's found a great new home in Plymouth! Ped, Charic - where's the Basschat selfie??
Hey Pete, it was a pleasure to meet you on a Saturday, thanks for taking the time to talk
13. I had a great day, saw Ped, macdaddy (though missed the Zebra Shuker, sob!), bluejay, dood, plus of course annoyed Skelf (Mr Sir Alan Cringean of AC Guitars) and Alex, Bobby and the chaps of Barefaced. And I purchased and walked away with a One10, very happy!
14. Just about to start the journey up. Like a numpty I forgot my basschat lanyard but I'll come and make myself known
15. Nik, I'll have that if you ever want to let it go!
16. I'll sort some photos when my second 32" is finished - both ACGs but very different flavours
17. Stunning bass and insanely good price - good luck with the sale!
18. One of the best solid state heads I've ever used was the Eden WT550; I owned a Neo d112XLT for a while too and that was equally awesome. I rate the older gear very highly indeed and am very keen to try their TN stuff
19.
Ashdown CTM100, it's the only amp I've ever really used that gives me the tone I want and doesn't have to struggle with the rest of my band. It's a lovely beast and Merton's thread pushed me over the edge with my uncertainty and made it certain I wanted one. I'm glad I did.
That's right, blame me haha I still rate that amp as the finest thing I've ever used, just wish I hadn't had to sell both of the ones I've owned. I will get another when I can afford it. As for my answer - Ashdown VS212 cab. Bought 2nd hand from eBay for not a lot of dosh and it is very good, even moreso given the experience I had with the VS112 which just didn't do it for me.
20. Great amp, great fella to deal with
