Nice one cheers Stew - your Carvin head was very impressive I have to say. Tons of power
As requested. The combo on the left is a CMD121. Both have their back panels parallel. Coke can is standard size. It's really light to carry. I'd say making one that has a docking port to take the amp would be a cool option; so the amp is protected and saves you carrying it as a separate item.
Wicked, that looks ace! Finally tried the Retro Two10 last night and can safely say I am now disappointed I didn't go for one of these last week. Ah well ;-)
ok mate, I shall wait for your review. At the moment I'm pairing the LB30 with a Trace Elliot 15" cab. Nice sounding but lack abit of volume. I will probably need to run 2x Trace cab to get good volume but that would be a pain to transport lol.
Well the CTM30/LB30 is an epic amp as you know. Through the Super Compact (1x12) it sounds big and has that modern bite. Through the Retro Two10 the vibe is definitely more vintage, but it's beautifully even and polite. Where the SC barks as the valves go into overdrive, the Retro Two10 gets nasty in a more refined manner. It still snarls and I have to say it sounds glorious but it isn't so "shouty" if that makes sense? I honestly felt quite tempted to look into switching out my SCs for the Two10s. I reckon the LB30 and Two10 are a match made in heaven based on the little experimentation we did yesterday. I'd be interested to hear Stew's and Ewan's views too though

Cracking news! (Git )

Buy my ultra rare Ashdown BTA 200 instead of either of them
-
Sounds like a cracking little build and I look forward to results! My take on a medium scale P will materialise via ACG towers early next year but will be markedly different (obv as it's an ACG haha!) Gotta say thought these Maruszcyks are very intriguing for the classic designs. Maybe next year......

Nice! Bet the Ashdown head sings through those cabs

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
Merton replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
Haven't tried the electrics in mine but assuming he banana neck is the main "deco" reason behind it. TBh mine is purely for having an instrument to noodle on at work so electrics won't worry me too much. Hope you get it fixed cheaply if poss -
@Paul-h: I hope your bass is moving now @Merton: Happy NDBD. Sounds like you have yet another bargain. How is the B string on your acoustic?
Cheers! It's a bit flabby tbh but I am not complaining for £50! Still got a bit of a neck issue to remedy but again absolutely spot on for the money -
Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
Merton replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
Bass is here, honestly at first couldn't figure out why it was a deco unit. Having had a better look the neck is a little backward and it's affecting the lower portion of notes on the D and G strings so have tweaked that and reckon I have a bargain on my hands -

Status Graphite neck on Stingray. Increased toppy/mid growl?
Merton replied to Shockwave's topic in General Discussion
OBBM has a Status neck on his Stingray 5, ask him -
On the back of Michael's comment above I decided to look inside the Ashdown RM800. It has the new 700ASC in it too, which probably explains why it does indeed "feel" different from the previous Class D heads I've used. Not that I ever really found the MB Fusion wanting...

South East Bass Bash No.9, Surrey, Saturday 26th September 2015
Merton replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
Ooh, very interested to see the Alpher! They look great My gear will now definitely be: ACG Finn 5, Status Retroactive, Ashdown CTM30, Ashdown RM800, Ashdown RM-110 cab and Barefaced Super Compact -
Has anyone compared the Retroglide 800 to the Rootmaster 800 ?
Two completely different beasts - one is meant to be clean with lots of tonal variation, the other has a more standard Ashdown tone goal. But it would be fun to A/B them
-
As far as I know, no BF owners disagree with the estimates of BF cab capabilities. So if you want to compare apples with apples you have to be looking at BF cabs being very good value for money.
Certainly my experience of the Super Compact matches their claims IME and I very much agree with you. It's £110 more than an Ashdown 1x10 cab which is fair for a British built cab with very highly customised driver, not to mention comparing it to other "high end" 1x10s, let alone any of the 2x10s it can probably keep up with
-
Why? It's a 1x10, isn't it?
Because they claim it matches most 2x10s for output. And the Retro Two10 they claim matches most 4x10s
Where did this come from? Have I been asleep? Couldn't see anything on their website...
When I've got mine I'll do a back to back with a Wizzy 10 on a DB and post it here. If it arrives in time I'll bring it to the SE Bash.
Ooh now that would be good, seeing and hearing one at the Bash
