1. I'd swap for a Super Compact (in fact, I did!) but probably not for a Gen 1/2 Compact because you will notice a warmer, less "bitey" tone with which you are no doubt aquainted from the S12T!
2. Cracking preamp! Miss mine sometimes...
3. Has anyone ever swapped the preamp valve in their ABM head for something other than the stock valve? If so did you find it a worthwhile and life affirming thing to undertake or a complete waste of 2 minutes?
4. A Super Twin Wideboy cab which allows you to get the benefit of vertically aligned 12s in a cab wide enough to accommodate most valve amps. (Most other manufacturers sacrifice vertical alignment when going to wide designs...) (And yes I know the retro range is designed for valve amps, I just love your 12" drivers!)
5. Bought an ABM500 from Dave after realising I should never have sold one earlier this year. He is an absolute gent, amp is as immaculate as the day it left the factory. Fantastic, many thanks!
6. The CTM100 is an awesome amp. Buy one. There
7. For Sale only : Ashdown BTA200 I'm in no hurry to sell this and frankly I don't NEED to, it's just in trying to be sensible. 4 amps is overkill for me (for most people?!) and this one is ridiculously OTT for my current band situation. That said, l love it to bits, it makes me grin like a loon every time I switch it on and for that reason alone I'm not interested in any offers or trades thanks. Anyhoo, what is it? The BTA (Big Tube Amp) originally launched in three variants: 200, 300 and 400. Funnily enough the numbers refer to the RMS wattage. The preamp is the Ashdown ABM EVO III, so solid state with a valve drive stage, 7 band EQ, single knob compression and sub harmonics. The power amp is all valve, in this case 6x6550s. Mark Gooday told me only around 20 of the 200W variants were ever made, so this is pretty rare! It sounds IMMENSE. In a blindfold test between this and an ABM, both set flat, you cannot tell the difference based on a crappy iPhone recording. Live "in the room", however, the BTA has that indescribable "heft" only a valve power stage can produce. Set everything flat, no compression or silly sub harmonics, a bit of valve drive and you're in tonal nirvana. Or at least, I am.... It's heavy (35kg). It's big (W610 x D330 x H362mm). But it's bloody great. In excellent nick except an indentation of a three-pin mains plug on one side, and one bolt cap (holding chassis to wooden sleeve) is missing. Comes with a 4mm padded RoqSolid cover. £750 collected. NOW £700 Shipping to mainland UK £35. NOW £30 Shipping further afield on request

9. Cameron bought some Fodera strings from me. Superbly easy and quick transaction. Thanks
10. This is where Ashdown took Mark Gooday's heritage and made it better. IMO anyway. Sounds glorious set flat GLWT (second attempt) S
Ha I know what you mean - My OCD was kicking in on the weekend when I plopped my Ashdown ABM evoii on top of my new Barefaced super compacts. Amp was 1/2in wider than the cabs either side. Unless I change the amp, I guess the cabs will be going on their side from now on, but then the Barefaced logo won't be face up!
It's not that bad! More importantly tho, how did you like the sound?
12.
Hi all Grabbed the bargain of the century yesterday (well, apart from those cabs in the previous post above picked up for £100). A 1215SMX just in need of a good wipe over with a damp cloth for £149 and this was from a store! It sounds absolutely superb, everything works and even the green knob cap (that was missing in the photographs posted in the stores ad) turned up wedged between the amp and the cabinet. Now I think I've got all eventualities covered so I'd better refrain from any further SMX based purchases.
No, you don't have enough SMX amplification there.
13. Haha, Mark Gooday has just posted a whinge on Facebook about the amount of times he's asked the impedance question in a day! Ashdown are now soon to do a video about it apparently...
14. Bought these by mistake - I wanted the nickel strings! - so they're brand new unopened. 45-65-85-105-130 Stainless Steel Roundwound £25 posted to the UK SOLD
15. Ashdown's new ABM range has a lifetime warranty and their after sales care is second to none in my experience. I think their other amps have 5 years on their warranty
16. If I recall you'll need a special Speakon cable made up, because of the way the cab is wired for the biamp options on the AH1000-12 for which it was designed. Seek out OBBM of these shores and he may be able to help
17.
I had the ABM 500 and got a great tone from it, rolled back on the bass a little it gave me a nice punchy tone. never understood why people seem to slate Ashdowns so much. I'd be inclined to give your amp a chance before changing. The new Evo 4 looks good.
I concur
18. I've just modded an Ashdown Mi10 cab from the single jack socket to two parallel Speakon/jack combi sockets. Cost me about a tenner in materials and a tenner in getting a few beers for a friend who did the metalwork The alternatives with only one amp output and no link sockets on the cabs are: 1. Get Dave (OBBM on here) to make you a splitter box, so amp output goes into the box and that has two parallel outs for the cabs 2. Get a special lead made up. 3. Wait about a month for Ashdown's new RM110 cab, this is similar in price to the Mi10 but will have parallel speaker sockets so you can daisy chain from one can to the next
19. There's a Six10 in the classifieds at the moment......
20. I think the WT300 has a preamp/line output which you can use to drive a power amplifier, yes
21. Trust me, an EVO II through two Super Compacts is an incredible sound Let us know how you get on!
