1. On the right hand side panel as you look at the cab head-on, if that makes sense? It's really minute but felt it needed pointing out!
2. Small and light and sounding like a TE? the Gallien Krueger MB200 does that IMHO. Only with more bass and more top end zing too.
3. Without being too naughty (i hope)... I'm selling an Ashdown 1x12 can in the classifieds here - 150W, 8 ohms, £100 delivered.
4. Hello! I have just agreed to buy oldslapper's Eden 1x12 cab, thus making this surplus to requirements. I bought it a month ago as a cheap, small cab for home and band practice. It has been used precisely twice at home, very quietly as I live in flats, and once at a rehearsal where it got to stretch its legs a little. So basically in brand new condition except for a small nick in the vinyl, but that was there when I bought it. New these are £130 if you can find one, this is a month old so I'll do it for £100 shipped to mainland UK (ask me for a quote if further afield) Nice vintage sounding cab, designed for the Little Bastard. I can imagine two of these with that head would be quite a nice sounding rig! MDF construction, no damping inside, ceramic 12" driver, nice red grill cloth, vintage handle on top which gets in the bloody way of the amp unless it has monster feet..... 5. Mods please delete this topic, it seems to have posted twice
6.
Also depends on what you're doing with your LM3. How are you using the VLE and VPF filters..?
This. A little tweak may well go a long way to sorting this. Remember that a solo'd bass tone may not quite be to your taste but in the mix it could work perfectly.
7. Hey John, if you ever decide to split I'd be interested in the Eden... Ta
8. I'd own up because I'm an honest chap. But the company you bought from needs to pay for collecting the extra speaker!
9.
Well, here's the immediately obvious stuff... Alex's prototype is / was 4ohm - these are 8ohm. At house volume, Alex's prototype seems to have inherently bigger lows - it was a slightly bigger box, and then there was whatever magic dust Alex put in there. That said, the TKS's have plenty, and the drivers aren't anywhere near broken in yet and the bottom end may well open up a little more after a bit of use. I doubt they'll match the BFB, but I can't imagine any other cab that size & weight will. Weight-wise, the TKS's are significantly lighter. This is nothing short of a miracle given that they're ceramic drivers. Mind you, the BFB was hardly a slog to carry in the first place. The build quality is impeccable. They have a real 'hewn from granite' feel about them. I've just been plunking away in the house there, and they sound marvellous... lovely and vintagey with responsive mids when you dig in. I can see that some people would want the optional tweeter in there (an extra £70 or so), but for my needs 4.8kHz or so is perfect. Of course, I can't judge them until I've gigged 'em, but so far so good
Nice one, ta!
10. I'd be interested to know how you compare them to the BF prototype (Still bugging Alex to send that one to me in exchange for a few hundred coins.....)
11. Trace Elliot have taken a radical new look design ethos.......
12.
A valve pre and not clipping it is a bit of a waste. You should probably send it to me and get a mic pre.
This, except don't send it to Oli, send it to me.
13.
See above.
Brilliant
14. No idea about them but the Status half-wounds are a revelation, I use them on most of my basses now
15. Great amp and a great price! What have you got instead Dave?
16. It's easy to remove the head, it's slightly less easily to make a new sleeve for it but only marginally. If you're good at woodwork you are laughing. I'm not
17. Hey guys, let Steve have first dibs, I am still figuring if I NEED a small cab or WANT one
18. Eden was purchased by US Music in about 2002, David Nordschow left a year or so later as he disagreed with US Music trying to shift production to China - you could almsot view it a bit like the GIbson effect on Trace Elliot. David Nordschow now has his DNA line; Marshall bought Eden last year and I have seen rumours that David is back working in a consultant role for Eden. If that's true I don't know what will happen to the DNA cabs. Certainly hope Marshall bring them back properly, I do like their cabs and still rate the WT550 as the best SS amp I have ever heard. To be fair I think their "clasic" preamp was developed by James Demeter though, wasn't it?
19. That is basically my dream ACG bass. Oh how I wish I wasn't broke
20. Got them all, mystified as to why Chris Wolstenholme scored so low. Porbbaly becasue they didn't call him Chris....
21. Put the S12 inside a cab which looks like an Ampeg fridge if it's about image
