Small and light and sounding like a TE? the Gallien Krueger MB200 does that IMHO. Only with more bass and more top end zing too.

A little tweak may well go a long way to sorting this. Remember that a solo'd bass tone may not quite be to your taste but in the mix it could work perfectly.

No idea about them but the Status half-wounds are a revelation, I use them on most of my basses now
