You can never have enough bass amplification
Next you'll be asking for Skin stuff too
I have Jam and their Greatest Hits. Should've just stuck with Jam. Anyone got the b.l.o.w. album (post Little Angels thing with at least Mark Richardson and Bruce Dickinson in it)?

Popped in on Sat with the guitarist in my band, and my son. Nice store, good luck with it! Could do with more bass amplification range tho... I didn't buy anything but guitarist came away with a new pedal and a Vox practice amp so was chuffed

Need to sort my live rig out, will the GK MB200 do this?
Merton replied to MarshallBTB's topic in Amps and Cabs
Please excuse my ignorance, but to daisy chain, do the cabs need an out as well as an input? the Hartke 210xl's I was planning to use only have a single input and no outputs
Most cabs have two sockets wired in parallel, what this means is one is the input and the other is a link to another cab. If your cab only has one socket then my cunning plan is somewhat fuggered -
I was / still am considering this as a compact head option. Just noticed it only has one speaker output though. Whichever head I end up going for, I'd like to be able to use either one Or two cabs depending on situation (without an additional power amp - as the original poster is planning). Speakon to 2No. jack cable - Does that exist?? If not, I'm guessing one would require a 4Ohm cab to make full use of the MB200... Hmmm??
Or just daisy chain two 8 ohm cabs... -

I've used mine on gigs with no problems but I know people who say that they've struggled... depends on how loud your "small" gigs are -
I was under the impression that the Ashdown stuff (amps at least) is designed by Clive Button the bloke who did quite a lot of the old Trace Stuff. If that's so, here's an idea. Revamp the old Trace Elliot MP11 preamp (sort of like the superfly with an 11 band graphic eq and midi footswitchable with channel memory) and pile in a proper digital power stage so say 500- 800W and valve gain. There. You have one of the most flexible amps you'll ever own. Loads of EQ options, stupidly lightweight and lots of shiny lights and buttons to appease people like me who like that sort of thing. I'd pay for that.
Good idea! Clive didn't do the MIDI part, that was done by John Price, a chap with a company called Kenton Electronics. I was talking to him about it the other day in fact. Shall I get him to contact Ashdown?

That seems to be the first Markbass head I might actually have GAS for.

Trace Elliot heads - which is your favourite model and why ?
Merton replied to Soliloquy's topic in Amps and Cabs
I love their valve series from the mid 90's. The one to which JTUK refers was actually a solid state preamp with valve power amp apparently (recent thread from OBBM mentions this) but that's not to take away from whether it sounds good or not! Got to say I used to love "their" sound but very soon realised, like JTUK, that the graphic EQ just doesn't work for me so I have moved on. If I could get another, I'd get a V-Type of some form, or a Hexavalve coz it only has a 7 band EQ -
Cracking combo, I used to have one of these and one of the 1x15 versions, loved them both (preferred the 1x15 coz it was lighter and could go louder but this was AWESOME for jazz and stuff). Sold it for around £375 IIRC. Miss the sound sometimes, not the weight What I REALLY regret selling, though, was the 4x8 extension cab for this. That was cracking. God luck with the sale EDIT: just spotted yours is far more sensible than the one I had; yours has two side handles, mine only had a strap handle on top Glad they sorted that one
Since the glares I was getting to my back from my drummer on Saturday (second outing for the LMT & BF S12T). Had to roll it back a bit, but it was all sounding good & solid to me even if I was out of my usual position & well off axis to the cab
Didn't realsie you'd got a Super12T Al, sounds lke you're having fun with it though Did you ever try my Vintage at the SE BB back in 2009? If so how does the S12 compare?

I have heard f*** all from my email... Would've thought a covers band would be ideal since a lot of the other bands are covers as far as I can see?
Yeh could do Merton. Nice offer. Thanks. Actually live in hemel but i work in london... cabs are in hemel though! hmmm. could always make a journey one weekend with my cabs.. or maybe just take the plunge with Mr.Noisy and then if it doesn't work out, sell it on again. Hmmm I'll think about it!!!
Cool. I'm not actually in London myself but not too far south of it
-
Whereabouts in London are you? Do you wanna try the MB200?
Funnily enough, I was just about to say that as much as I like my MB200 I found that it struggled in a rehearsal with a loud(ish) band - not sure that I would risk gigging it!
Really?! Haha, shows that one person's loud is another person's quiet
Thanks Merton & Pete for your input on the G.K.. What cab(s) are you both using?
Epifani UL 112 Series 2 (not mine). Cranked the gain to about 2 o'clock and it sounded great Don't get too caught up with the amp rating vs cab ratings, there's a whole sticky on it at the top of the Amps and Cabs forum which will explain it better than I can!
-
The GK MB200 is a loud 200W (whatever that means ), I love mine and it's gigged with a loud band with no problem.
The eq section is close to perfection. It might not get heaps of use though, as paradoxically they've also made an amp that sounds brilliant more or less flat. I haven't tried many amps that do such a good basic tone straight off. Having said that, the eq enables you to partner this amp with a wide range of basses and cabs – there's enough über-tweakage in there to pretty much sort anything out if you need to.
What 'e said. Absolute cracker of an amp and a fair price

Eden WT550: Flat with slight tweaks for the room. A tiny smidge of the "Enhance" control, but not much. Lots of volume
