Wow - just saw this on the tin'ternet too. Very sad news. Dirt came out just as I picked up the bass, and then I was blown away when I discovered Facelift. Still two of my favourite albums.
+1 to all of that. Damn shame
This looks like it could be a perfect match with the Big Baby T that I'll be keeping for myself. Justifiable business expense, hmmm?...
Hell yes.

SOLD. Cheers all for your interest! This is a feeler but depending on the reaction I get it will (probably turn) into a solid FS... This is a very beaten up Groove bass which I picked up very cheap (too cheap) last year... It was advertised as well worn and with no strap buttons and here's a bit of it's history after I got it... To say the body has a few dinks is an understatement. I gave her a quick once-over, all seemed OK, but then I decided to tune her up,. The nut moved. I loosened the strings, the nut fell off. OK, no great shakes, a dab of glue and she's back solid as a rock. Then I checked out the battery. It has leaked inside the compartment, expanded and now won't come out. Plus one of the wires had broken off the box so it was useless anyway. New battery compartment was added. The volume control... non existent. Well, the knob was non-existent. Fortunately I had three spare from my old Groove 5er when I swapped them over for different knobs, so stuck one of those on instead. Easy! Finally, the strap buttons (or lack thereof). OK, I bought some straplocks for her, easy. Except that BOTH holes for the screws were so royally buggered that the biggest screw thread you can stick through a straplock hole still won't have any wood to bite against. Wood glue and cocktail sticks... She plays BEAUTIFULLY, sounds amazing so is just a very mojo'd bass. I'm only contemplating selling as I've jsut nabbed a rather lovely Shark 5er on ebay and I need ot shift stuff to cover the costs. I paid £125 plus about £25 to get her back up to gigging standard, so I'll sell for £150 plus a tenner shipping in the UK mainland. Anyone interested?

SOLD pending the usual I've had this less than 2 weeks, bought from Mr Russ... Reason for the sale is I saw a very pretty Status Shark on ebay and I had to have it, so something has to go, and this being the last thing in and all... £200 plus a tenner posted to mainland UK. 250W 8 ohms 1x10" plus tweeter Pics later I might be tempted to sell my beaten up Groove as well, PM me if interested. It'd be £150 including a basic hardcase plus a tenner for shipping UK mainland...
Am I right in thinking this is now wired in series?
No, parallel, like the others have said
and if so am I also right in thinking that means im running at half the power/volume?
No, full power (575W, 4 ohm)
if not am I completely wrong?
Yep
is it even a good idea to wire up speakers this way?
Absolutely fine
I've looked at the numbers of both 210 and 115 cabs, for both Epi and EBS and yes, there's very little difference in therms of frequencies, responses and other things... fine the speaker is larger and the 'box' is differently constructed, but the differences on the paper are not great. I have tested recently a Hartke rig, 4x10 on it's own and then with a 1x15 + 4x10 and I could actually hear the difference in the low end, so I'm not sure now if I was imagining that or if it does make a difference. I certainly don't want to invest in a 115 and then find out that a) it makes no difference and no one else wants it, so resell value is zilch!
2 things: 1. The specs may read the same on paper but are probably not quite reality. Lots of threads discuss this. Like you say, you need to try them. 2. just coz JTUK doesn't like 15s doesn't mean there isn't a market for them. Personally I ONLY use 15s at the moment

A masterpiece. Cracking album, I always thought it was a Ric too. Learning lots here, never even knew there was a US mix!

I know nothing of the Super Twelve as I'm yet to hear one, but I know the Big One is an awsome, awesome cab

No, the MAIN point is Maximum Tone. Minimum weight is not the main point. Alex and Russ are winding each other up
In terms of reliability, I say an amp was reliable if you ran it for 5 years without a blink. I assume people plug into it at home so that is say, 300 days a year times a good few years. So, taking that as MY guide, I've had mine for nearly 20 under those conditions and it failed when someone knocked it over under power and needed few things replaced by a decent tech. Cost £35:00. That is my benchmark, now. Just sayin'....
Good benchmark The only amp I've had fail on me occurred when a friend dropped it out of a van and the heatsinks fell off the power transistors... Anyhoo, I've got an MB200 on order for a cheap+tiny home/rehearsal head. Should be arriving late Feb so I'll let you all know what I think (Edited for smelling pistakes)

What's your current condition? Doesn't sound good!
'Nearly true'... what the **** is that supposed to mean when you pile a doom gig into it.
Nearly true flat, as in getting a truly flat response is physically impossible
If they do what you want them to do and you think they are a good deal, then fine.
Aye
You expect me to believe a cab designed like this is the benchmark of all things bass cabs.
That's not what he said, he essentially said it was arguably the only nearly true flat bass cab on the market. He also stated that it wasn't what he'd look for in a cab!
