1. Just had a load of pics from a wedding we did in June, I like this one:
2. Have only read the OP and none of the replies (no time!!) but I agree- give me any bass or amp and I'll sound the same. I have very much enjoyed my journey finding gear nirvana bit I bet if you A/B'd my tone now and 5 years ago there wouldn't be much difference... probably just I now have an amp which gives me that tone with very minimal EQ Oh, btw, my sound is "sh*t bassist" EDIT: as for the theory and practice, I did A Level music, lots of grade exams on bass, trombone, piano, French horn... Would like to think I know some stuff, however I'm well aware of my limitations and have many plans to study and fill those gaps in my knowledge/talent. Time however is very precious with a 2yr old son...
3. Did a gig earlier this year with a buggered neck - had slept badly I think but had severe shooting pains whenever I so much as moved my head. I was totally useless for load in and out, and just stood at a slightly funny angle all night. It did ease off as the night went on, not sure if that was adrenalin or beer though....
4.
If you like the sound of your 15", get another one. You'll get more of the same, but louder.
This

6.
Ive had a AKG Bug thing for a few years that I use with my occasional band and a AKG wms400 pro ( I think) for my main band. The range is t great but it's enough for me to walk ateast 15-20 foot from the stage.
Cool, cheers. I want mine for much the same reason you have yours do hopefully I'm onto a winner
7. Two AKG SR40 systems. Why two? I have no idea what frequency our singer's radio mic is so bought both off Jamesemt for 80 quid. They're fixed frequency hence the caution - I'll sell one once I am confident I have a unit which won't interfere There's a very very slight distortion vs a cable but that may just be a new battery required in the bug, will see. I only noticed this as I had an opportunity to A/B at low volume at home but on a gig it absolutely won't be noticeable.
8. I joined the club yesterday too
9.
In an emergency once I used a graphic eq pedal into a power amp and was very surprized by how good it sounded. I've got a Trace Elliott V type preamp but I don't like the sound of Trace Elliott.
If you don't like it I'll have it....
10.
Running them in series will work with any amp, but be prepared for them to sound significantly quieter than one cab on its own
why? More air being moved.....
11.
Ab - 4th fret 'E' string. Lovely sound. Not G# though, that would just be wrong...
12. (Drop) D
13.
He's still with us.
Good news, cheers!
14. Brilliant Lee, that's why everyone raves Keep up the good work!
15. Feel bad I haven't kept up to speed with Chi Cheng, is he still with us and still battling?
16. Status necks are not tinny and characterless! Not played a Kingbass tho...
17.
Hi all! Here's a few clips from a gig I did last night. (snip)
Sounds great. Damn you P.S. Nice playing too
18. Here we go, my home practice rig: Yes, that's a little hifi speaker. Sounds ok at home practice volume. Win
19. Will respond when I can get on my laptop and get screenshots for you
20. No worries Peter, makes perfect sense
21. My Eden is a lot quieter than my old Trace AH300-12, no hiss that I've noticed at all. DI is squeaky clean too.
22. I guess you're wanting to sell as a whole rather than split, Peter? Something rather alluring about those cabs....
23. Older Edens had jack or banana plugs, newer ones from around 2000ish (i think) have speakons and jacks. Personally I'm an Eden man- slight hint of Enhance (not even 1/5 of the movement) but otherwise flat save for tiny room tweaks. Loud, clear and a lot of balls
24.
Seems a fair point to me. I had a TC amp for a while, the Classic 450. Used to use it at 3/4 on volume for gigs. If that was only using 100ish watts, well they were loud watts then!
The position of the volume control has no bearing on output power rating
I think it would only really be a problem f people were buying the gear and finding it hideously under-powered. At that point, the claims would be detrimental, but as said, if all the owners of the gear are happy with it, no fuss.
Indeed, the fuss is more about TC apparently lying in their marketing blurb, which I can understand, however ultimately if it works for someone then great
25. Like their heads, especially the valve jobbies, but increasingly found myself knob twiddling in my on my old GP12 head so went for a more basic preamplifier and have now ended up with Eden which I am much happier with. the old cabs, I agree with whynot, they weren't too hot. Funnily enough the new 1518 is actually in my top 3 1x15s, it works brilliantly with an LH500 Horses for courses definitely. They have a soft spot in my heart as I grew up using them but I think there's better out there now and certainly more user-friendly preamps. EDIT: I could start a thread saying I hate Ampeg because I can't stand them, but I won't
