Must be looking for a certain sound to think of 2x15's....
Not really. You can get pretty much anything you want from my Vintage. I want rock tho
I can't find reference to a "Big Twin" on his website.... is this a new model? Super 12 - yes, Big Baby - Yes, Big One - Yes....
Big Twin is a 2x12" plus 1x6.5" monster that will destroy everything in its path. Not yet fully in production I don't think. EDIT: from the man himself
the Big Twin. Essentially a 2x12" version of the Big One it plays a bit louder (~3dB), goes quite a bit lower (-3dB point shifts down by ~7Hz), and offers a 4 ohm nominal load to get the most out of typical bass amps, which combined with the greater speaker area and enclosure size makes it usefully easier to drive. Big cab, BIG sound, big price (unfortunately!) Pretty righteous though...
South East Bass Bash Year 4, Surrey, 27th November 2010

Can we add MikeyR to the list as well? He'll be bringing my multiscale if it's finished, and prob his Shuker P and maybe the multiscale proto if he can carry it all -
I've posted pics of this before and before some arsehole says it, yes it does look like a coffee table but I think it's looking even more shexual and toit with some DR Black Beauties on. This bass -originally made for Old Git, has completely killed off my GAS and will see my playing days out.
Looks like a coffee table I jest. She looks gorgeous and I wholeheartedly agree about the Black Beauties (great strings! I've just ordered the Red Devils for my none-more-black Status, should be interesting...).

Sorry it's taken me so long to actually tell you what I'm bringing... Retroactive J, Eden WT550 and Vintage, and (hopefully) the multiscaele 5er with MikeyR in tow:) -

More pics: Walnut shim under the neck to raise the fingerboard and add a slight angle to the neck. Mikey: "Gratuitous laminate shot. I've finished up tidying up the outline with the router, after scaring myself with the 2" router bit, bottling out and finishing up with the shorter bits. " When the fingerboard is cambered and the edge of the fingerboard is carved this will look very different. And finally, with her big sister:
http://bowfinishing.co.uk/ is local to you - the dogs blx. Mind you, if you are looking to keep it's value (!?) it may be good to get an official Status refin.
Cheers Russ, will check them out
Nice score. Given the price you paid for it, is it worth considering getting a refin?
Yes, yes it is. I quite like the mojo'd look though - I'm so precious over my Retroactive I got really pissed off when it got it's first dent earlier this year, so this is kind of the antithesis I guess. But certainly an option in the future is a re-fin, either back in her hometown or by someone else like Sims, Bernie or Jon Shuker. Or Mikey, once he finally has some free time in 2025 (that list is getting longer!)

Cheers Mikey Cocktail sticks have worked OK on my other basses, but seeing as I have to go the Homebase to get some more wood glue I may as well do it properly Yes, I am an addict, especially Grooves, they're awesome. And this was only £125!! This will probably get more action than the Retroactive once the multiscale is finished (that will be no. 1, this the gig back-up). I do sometimes wonder if I'm greedy, but then I remember I have to own all these or I'd be spending my time kicking myself that I dind't have them Have you recovered from your Royal visit?

I picked this up from Gumtree last week. The bass was dead cheap, a bargain to be honest considering the price included a hardcase - and all thanks to Toasted for getting it for me It was advertised as well worn and with no strap buttons. Easy, no problem, a great cheap back up bass for gigs which I won't mind leaving in the van/lock up etc. It arrived on Monday and I have to say I was a bit surprised at how "well worn" it was. The photos on the FS ad didn't show its true colours and I'm not sure mine do either - I'll try to get more up later over the weekend. To say the body has a few dinks is an understatement. I gave her a quick once-over, all seemed OK, but then I decided to tune her up,. The nut moved. I loosened the strings, the nut fell off. OK, no great shakes, a dab of glue and she's back solid as a rock. Then I checked out the battery. It has leaked inside the compartment, expanded and now won't come out. Plus one of the wires had broken off the box so it was useless anyway. New battery compartment from Dawn has been ordered today The volume control... non existent. Well, the knob was non-existent. Fortunately I have three spare from my old Groove 5er when I swapped them over for different knobs, so stuck one of those on instead. Easy! Finally, the strap buttons (or lack thereof). OK, I bought some straplocks for her, easy. Except that BOTH holes for the screws were so royally buggered that the biggest screw thread you can stick through a straplock hole still won't have any wood to bite against. I seem to have lost my tub of wood glue at the moment but i have some cocktail sticks primed and ready to plug the holes and start again... Haven't even had a chance to plug her in and check the passive option works yet! So, some first pics, apologies for the crap lighting, flash effects etc...
+1 Unless it's a 15". I just don't think I could get away with a single 15" cab, they need to be paired with something to give them some zing and top end!
You should try a Compact or my Vintage. More than enough zing for almost anything

This is a rebadged Eden WTX260, they changed it to the Nemesis range when they brought out the more powerful WTX500. I've heard good things about the tone but less impressive things about it's power, prob not enough for a loud band!
all of my stuff are the USA versions and they have been great sounding and reliable. Not sure or confident about nemesis or other current `china made` examples .........................................................
I *think* that things started going downhill from about 2007 but I may be wrong.
Right, I see. Thanks. What would happen, theoretically, if I connected my two cabs (1x15 and 2x10) from the two outputs on the amp then daisy chained another cab? How would this affect the watts/ohms etc? Especially if only on one side like that.
Magic smoke. Bad idea, you'll pull the impedance down to below the amp's lowest safe rating of 4 ohms.

I've owned 2 Nemesis heads and now have an Eden WT550 and have never had a problem with them. Solid as a rock
Someone should have snapped this up by now. I tried mine out in anger for the first time last night. The tone controls are a dream to use and just work beautifully although the pretty much standard Eden 'flat' setting was almost there. Superb quality in use, sound and construction. So, that Bargain Bump can have a Spectacular Bargain Bump to closely follow it up.
Hell yes. I'm still half wondering if Nic will notice a hole in the bank account if I were to buy a back up Cracking head, cracking price, can't wait to gig mine again tomorrow
I *think* it was built around the time of the US Music takeover so hopefully the megacorp sh1tness hadn't stuck yet..
This is, in fact, bollocks. US Music took over in Dec 2002 and my amp was made in 2004. Hehe.
+1 Though my amp chappie wasn't so impressed with the build quality when he serviced my Eden Metro, and it is 10 years old now. I still love the sound of it regardless..
Really? Oh sh1t I hope the 6yr old WT550 isn't shoddy - I *think* it was built around the time of the US Music takeover so hopefully the megacorp sh1tness hadn't stuck yet.. Ah well, it sounds good, and to be honest some the Traces I used to own weren't exactly well built inside (bloody Gibson era tosh)
Ummmm...my wedding gig on Saturday was Vocal, jaazzz geetar and electric upright. The GK combo was overkill. Don't think a 2x15 would get me booked again, even if I forgot to plug it in.
Hehe. I can get away with a 2x15 coz it looks f**king cool and I don't turn it up *that* much Not tried it for jazz yet...

Wall demolishing ability ... check SO you've swapped the S12 for the Big One? I fancy an S12, just for those gigs where the Vintage is too big
Thanks! Thats the thing, I have to be at 9/10 to get the right level. Doesn't feel right. The manual that is on BritishAudioService isn't comprehensive - maybe it is just a rubbish manual but it doesn't seem to describe the noise gate, or the inputs other than explaining the input gain procedure. Thanks though :-)
When i had a Trace 12 band head i had the input gain on about 8 or 9 depending on the bass. Lots of headroom on the input i guess!
