1.
This is where I'm getting confused. It says "150 watts RMS" "300 watts peak" Speaker output 4 Ohms. What does this all mean? Yes, it's loud enough, it will cover nearly all the gigs we do in local pubs, but it wouldn't be loud enough for some of the beer festivals we're doing this year, most of which are in huge marquees with no wall or corner to place my amp in. I can line out, of course, but our PA has no bass bins so it would probably sound better if I didn't. It's an SM combo, yes. The front says GP7 SM 150. At the moment I'm avoiding using the EQ too much, it has the Trace 'shape' button on the front, shape 1 and 2. Apparently shape 1 is the classic trace sound, but it's been a bit muddy so I've been using shape 2 with just a touch of low mid boost.
It's the RMS figure you should concern yourself with, peak power is nonsense. So you have a 150w combo, which gives about 80 to 100w into the internal driver and with additional 8 ohm cab you'll get the full 300w
 2.
If, with a cab connected, the Trace will kick out 300 watts (Hartke is 350w) then it'll be fine for the bigger gigs.
Er, if it's a 150W combo it'll kick out 150W with a cab connected, and about 90W without. If it's a 300W comobo it'll kick out around 180-200W without a cab, and 300W with. Nice simple combos these were, always sounded great to my ears
 3.
will put some pics on there tomorrow if still for sale, please pm if intersted
How about some pics to prove it exists? People still rmemeber the debacle of me trying to buy it and there weren't any photos then either... May help your cause
I do think Merton should have first refusal on this, since he attempted to buy it last time until Parcelforce got in the way
Aye
 4.
Weird...
I'm awaiting pics with baited breath
 5. 6.
Two things puzzle me about the Hartke. It only seems to have one volume knob, rather than input gain/output volume. With the fender-style valve preamp and passive eq I would think its important to match the input gain to the instrument? Also the DI seems to be pre-eq (ie flat) only, so you can't send your preamp sound as a DI. Can anyone who's owned or used one comment?
There's a whole thread somewhere dedicated to the LH amps and this was a hot topic. Short answer, it works very very well indeed and makes a lot of sense. No farting about setting gain level as it is a very high headroom low noise preamp.
 7. The MK575 is the best Ashdown i have played thru. Set it flat, turn it up and off you go!
 8. The LH500 is a class ab power amp. The class a refers to the valve pre, tho in reality all valve pres are class a! Personally i rate the hartke very very highly indeed, i miss my old one but then i remember i have the trace v-type pre which is almost identical but has a few more bells and whistles The hartke power amp is a beast
 9. That was my old 4x8 prior to fuzzylogic owning it! Cracking cab
 10. You (little) bastard I want one but can't justify nor afford it!
 11.
Thinking that I may...possibly..... look at a new cab. I love my Ashdowns, but thinking of something that can push a bit more air for my originals project. I'm a bit of a noob with cabs, I've used these Ashdowns for about 6 years and not wanted for anything else. So with the exception of doing a few gigs with the touring Barefaced Big One & Compact, thats all I've gigged in that time! So I think I'm after a full range, front ported cab, not fussed as to whether it's 4 or 8 ohms, my Orange head is switchable. Not fussed on speaker sizes. Would prefer to stay light-weight and small, but I understand there's a limit. I basically need something that will handle low B's nicely, and some synth bass without breaking up. Choices? Cheers Si
BF Vintage
 12.
Not sure how to (new to this!!) I thought I had put it in the Zoot bit!
It needs to be in the For Sale section, not the Zoot bit! Good luck with the sale!
 13.
Anyhoo my wee question is : Im having a strange, pos grounding problem, with my ampeg B2RE. Is there a ground lift option on it? Inside maybe? Or dose its design not need one?
Have a lookie here!
 14. These are great pickups, very hard to find - took me 6 months searching worldwide back in 2002! Fine price too. Half tempted to get 'em as a poss Wizard alternative for my multiscale build... But i must save my cash
 15.
My son has bought a secondhand superfly head 500watts, As yet he has no speaker cabs and we are looking for a couple of 4 ohm cabs. In the meantime he wants to know if he is ok using my trave elliot 1518 8ohm cabinet on one side and nothing on the other or must both side have a speaker attached. cheers in anticipation for your help
This amp houses 2x250W at 4 ohms power amps, you should be able to safely run one side at 8 ohms and the other with no load, but don't expect it to deafen you!
 16.
Yes VA is Watts in this case. I'm guessing that the transformer has to be rated higher than the power amp and from what I've read it is the transformer rating that governs the inrush current, not the power amp rating. Anyway, I posed a Q on the Warwick support forum. Its Sunday in Germany so I guess all their designers are out in the sunshine on the Nurberg Ring in their Porches. Hopefully, knowing their efficiency, they will reply at 8.01 tomorrow morning. 17. Brian at G-K got back to me on this: "The MB200 will not be available for about 8 weeks. A unit bought in the U.S. would need to be internally converted to work in the U.K." So scuppered on all fronts!
 18.
If my gp7sm head puts 150 watts into a 4ohm load what is it putting out inot an 8ohm load
Around 80 to 100W
 19.
You're probably right about this X series, which i didn't even hear about before Anyway the original statement "Mar 1999 Introduction of 12-band series (GP12X preamp)" is surely wrong, because the 12-band series was introduced in the very early nineties, with the SMX series
Bit confusing this, the GP12X preamp was also known as the 12-band series, hence the quote, strictly speaking, is correct
 20.
I also have a vinyl coverd 4 x 10 with 11 band graphic that sounds monster but I leave it in outr rehersal room cus its so heavy I only gave £100 for this SO WHEN DID THE 11 BAND GRAPHIC enter the timeline?
The GP11 (er, 11 band graphic!) was the original Trace preamp, it was the basis for everything up to and including the MkV stuff
 21.
The GP12SMX was introduced much earlier than 1999 I bought mine back in 1993
No-one said it was introduced in 1999. The GP12X preamp and associated heads (the SMX replacement) came out in 1999. The SMX, as far as I know, was introduced around 1992?
 22. Nice history, though the original V-Type head, combo and preamp date back to 1995... I think the 1998 relaunch was the V6 and V300H/V600H, then the V8/V4 were the 2000 additions.
 23. No uk pricing for the MB200 head (that i've seen yet). BUT... My bro in law flies to LA next week. Hmm... Shall i?
 24. That's a proper run down, nice! PD = Precision Devices I believe
