1.
I also have a vinyl coverd 4 x 10 with 11 band graphic that sounds monster but I leave it in outr rehersal room cus its so heavy I only gave £100 for this SO WHEN DID THE 11 BAND GRAPHIC enter the timeline?
The GP11 (er, 11 band graphic!) was the original Trace preamp, it was the basis for everything up to and including the MkV stuff
2.
The GP12SMX was introduced much earlier than 1999 I bought mine back in 1993
No-one said it was introduced in 1999. The GP12X preamp and associated heads (the SMX replacement) came out in 1999. The SMX, as far as I know, was introduced around 1992?
3. Nice history, though the original V-Type head, combo and preamp date back to 1995... I think the 1998 relaunch was the V6 and V300H/V600H, then the V8/V4 were the 2000 additions.
4. No uk pricing for the MB200 head (that i've seen yet). BUT... My bro in law flies to LA next week. Hmm... Shall i?
5. That's a proper run down, nice! PD = Precision Devices I believe
6. OK everyone, I owe Graham an apology. Last Thursday he PM'd me to say he had indeed dispatched the Bright Box by Parcel Force three weeks ago and he'd contact them to find out what was what, if not he'd sort a complete refund. True to his word, today I have indeed received a full refund as it appears Parcelfarce have f**ked up but Graham can't find the receipt. Thanks to Graham for sorting this and sorry again for making this a bit of a rant thread
7. I'd lose that down the back of the sofa. I want it.
8. Ooh, i love Robbie's basses, looking forward to seeing this develop
9. Carpet came in end of the Kaman era, along with mdf construction, around 1995 iirc. Gibson took over in 2000 and led to poorer quality electrical components, black vinyl covering and a Trace-saturated market. I think
10. Couple more pics of the top gluing into place:
11.
Yes apols for the side track Martin, looking forward to this coming to fruition. Peter
I'll forgive you
12. I like the look of Mersea. Nice Anyhoo, enough about Essex, let's talk bookmatch tops: This is from Mikey's mobli - he says "excuse the crappy phone camera" Whooop!
13.
Anyhoo, Merton has been a propper gent waiting for me to put this one together. During the course of building this, alot has gone on, but Im glad Im now getting more time to spend in the workshop.
Hey, I am happy to wait as long as it takes, like you say there's been a lot going on for you over the last year so it's cool. But, I need it for two gigs tomorrow if that's ok?
14. You're both pedants!! Hehe. I've only ever been to Colchester 4 times - thrice to visit Rob and Dawn etc at Status and once with my then (witch of a) girlfriend to walk around and get moaned at - so i haven't actually got a clue
15. Not quite - the other TE 1x15 is a 1518 model hence different (bigger in all aspects). But £110 for yours is definitely a good price, these are great great cabs IMHO, I miss mine!
16.
With respect Merton no he doesn't. He's a Merseaite and there's a whole world of difference believe me. I err.... grew up with his Mum (who's actually 3 or 4 yrs younger than me)
Pedant
17.
Has the problem with cutting out on the Nemi happened to you?
Nope But two gigs tomorrow so I'm sure I can make it a first time soon TBH I run the input section a couple of notches down from the clip light even blinking just to be safe, seems to have worked so far!
18. Cracking octaver, still my favourite 8ve pedal
19. I didn't in the end, few issues with new house and of course the Bright Box saga... Still want one at some point tho. How does it compare to the Nemesis tonally and powerwise?
20. The main body all glued and dry, waiting for the top And a close up of the go faster stripes:
21.
Just for the record - the amp in the pics is a Trace Elliot BLX 150 SMC. This was the last of the BLX models to be made, previous ones being the 80 and 130 models. By the time your amp was made Trace were just putting their GP7 SM 150 watt heads into the remaining BLX cabinets before discontinuing them. As you rightly state, these heads did have more features than previous models in the BLX range, due to them using their upgraded amplifier heads in these. Trace also stopped putting BLX badges on them too, hence the confusion. Nice amp, good luck with your sale. Pete.
That's what i was trying to say, only far better put
22. Chill out dude, was just asking! (edit - though it does seem you are misinterpreting the specs printed. And even if it doesn't say BLX, it is the last version of the BLX, a 150W @ 4 ohms amp. NOthing bad about this, they are fine amps in my opinion, always wnated one!)
23. Bit confused - you say it's not a BLX but the photo shows a BLX combo?? Also, the power output of your amp head is 150W RMS into 4 ohms, 300W peak. Just sayin' so people don't get confused All nice gear
24.
Thanks Alex. It'd be good with the F1 then.
Dave, you can borrow my Vintage on 3rd/4th July if you want?
