1. The new TE cabs are far better than the old ones - the new 1518 is a very very fine 1x15 cab. ONly beaten in Merton's "Best 1x15 cab competition" by the Compact coz of size, weight and upper mid response really!
 2. I'll ask Phil Mulford as he was involved in them too somehow... High end and totally not like "standard" Carlsbro gear from what I remember.
 3. Cracking bass. I have an identical one without front dots and without the scratchplate. I remember this one being for sale coz it was up around the time I had mine built. Someone will get a stonker
 4. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Best 5 string I've ever played, I want I want I want. (But I'd be strung up by my balls if I bought it!)
 5.
Port plugs! None in equals standard tuning, one plug in equals lower tuning, two plugs in equals lowest tuning. I have the foam for these now so they'll be going out shortly to all previous Vintage purchasers.
Whooooop! I have a gig in 2 weeks in a little pub, these will help do the job rather nicely
 6. The Hartke LH500 is a fabulous head, dead simple to use and dead easy to get a great tone from. And it's perfectly powerful for almost anything you'll need :-)
 7. Oooooooooooooooh. I like these amps, lovely sound. I would if I could, believe me! Bargain esp with P&P included
 8.
Aye Hugh Macdonald was actually on bon jovis first album in the late 70,s and some say he was on ALL the records, but he,s never been in any band promo, he must just be an employee, a bit like darryl jones with the stones. Hugh was a session player (his stuff on Alice coopers trash was great) but yeah your right - lee
<technical pedant> Bon Jovi's first album was 1984!</technical pedant> If you listen to the bass work on all their records it does all sound mightly like HMcD, especially Keep the Faith. TBH, BJ have been crap since then though. Still going to see them next year for a luagh, mind!
 9. I run an 18V active bass into the passive input, no problems at all. Just keep listening and any unwanted noises, turn down! As stingrayfan says, it'll just distort sooner
 10. It's all about the Barefaced Vintage. Nothing comes close, IMHO
 11. PM's re Octave Multiplexer
 12.
Hi Guys n girls, I need to replace my trace elliot 4x10 1084 and peavey firebass 700 head, the size and weight is slowly getting to me. I am thinking about changing over to a Ashown MAG-C115-300. Getting one second hand and changing the speaker to a 4ohm neodym speaker and finding a 2x10 cab for bigger venues. Maybe something like this for the speaker? http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=PAU...semode=category Advise please? Cheers, Ben
If you put a 4 ohm driver in that combo you won't be able to drive a second cab as you'll push the amp lower than it's min impedance and that will make Bad Things happen. I wouldbn't bother replacing the driver at all, just get a 2x10 cab to go with it if that's what you want to do
 13.
Thanks Alex! Can the tweeter be adjusted (e.g. different setting) and is it defeatable?
From Alex's previous post I'd say it's a choice of either on or off, though I beleive the Big OneT has a three way switch - off-lo-hi?
 14.
I have a vintage, I dont have a problem with top end it cuts through in fact sometimes at some gigs i have to take a bit off, I think the vintage is perfect as is..... Im lucky to have a wal , a ricky, a jazz ,and a 74 precision, ALL sound great through the vintage, it brings out the sound of the bass that your using, some cabs ive tried tend to make all the basses sound the same, the vintage rocks........
Wot 'e said, except the bit about wot basses he owns coz I don't have them
 15. Another big-up for Diamond Dave All my cables are OBBM and I've never souded better. Shame I can't play tho
 16.
I can't believe that this is still here. I'm absolutely loving my 1x15" one - one of the simplest and best sounding amps I've ever owned
Hell yes, a great combo, as is the 4x8
 17. Am I V3 then Alex? Rob - your rig will be a true monster I like the idea of a cab which is lighter than the (much smaller) head
 18.
Mmm, Tube heads and vintage... Stop it! Please!
19.
Bout time i got a proper rig
Hey, I recognise that! Oooh, that reminds me, best update my history: in Vox Escort Bass (2nd hand, my first bass amp!) - 1993 in Trace Elliot Commando 15 (still got this as a practice amp) - 1996 out Vox Escort - 1996 in 2nd Trace Commando linked to the first - 2000 in Trace Elliot AH300-12 with Ashdown MAG410T - 2002 out the 2nd Trace Commando - 2002 in Trace 1153 cab - 2005 in Trace V-Type head - 2005 out Ashdown MAG410T - 2006 in Trace 2103H cab - 2006 out Trace Elliot V-Type head - 2006 in Trace Elliot V-Type 1x15 combo - 2006 out Trace Elliot AH300-12 - 2007 in Eden Nemesis NA320 - 2007 out Trace 2103H - 2008 out Nemesis NA320 - 2008 in Trace Elliot V-Type 4x8 combo and 4x8 cab - 2008 out Trace Elliot 1153 - 2008 out Trace Elliot V-Type 4x8 combo - 2008 in Hartke LH500 - 2008 out Trace V-Type 1x15 combo - 2009 in Trace Elliot 1518 cab - 2009 out Trace Elliot 4x8 cab and 1x15 cab - 2009 in Barefaced Vintage 2x15 cab - 2009 So current rig is dead straightforward - Hartke LH500 into Barefaced Vintage. Commando combo is being borroed by a friend right now and haven't seen it for months!
 20.
Thanks once again to Merton for the use of his Vintage. I think the black cloth might be a better match. Tough decision!
No prob! It sounded huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge, didn't it! Go on, Vintage with black cloth is on your shopping list now, go on, go on...
 21.
Stop-Press: CK and I are doing a house-swap for six months. Alex
Ah, now, erm...
