Also, will anyone be taking any passive 5 string basses on the day, as I'd like to make a comparison between my two active Fender 5's and a passive 5..?
Yep, the Mikey Multiscale bass is one
Just to say that the Basschat 10% cut of the profit will go to a charity called the Blue Cross, an animal re homing centre based in Burford. Good work people, especially silddx! All muchly appreciated. OK, for people who wish to enter "from afar", you have until 7pm on Friday 9th October to buy your tickets. Please pay direct to BC's paypal, then PM me and Ped with the qty you paid for. I'll ensure you all get into the draw on Saturday 10th and any winners will be contacted by PM after the event. If you have a preference on prize, let me know so it can go to you should it still be available, if not someone will choose for you

Good work Nik! One thing to mention, the raffle is looking a little thin on the ground at the moment, so more donations please! (You're welcome to bring them along on the day...) About to pop over to that threat to talk about tickets etc for non-attendees
I can't believe the price this is up to already.

I know, the last Trace V-Type all valve head I saw on eBay sold for £600.
AFAIK there are about 3 of these combos in existence - they didn't actually ever advertise the 2x10 version I believe. So I think it could be quite some way off its final price potentially!
Right, First impressions; I genuinly think these things are changing the definition of "light" to bass players. For a long time, Light meant 2 twenty year olds could lift it up stairs without putting a disc out. But this really is a different kind of light. I managed two flights of stairs, on my own, without breaking a sweat. This is a 2x15 ffs!. Anyway, once in my room and plugged in (using a crappy speakon lead at the moment i might add, My OBBM lead should be here in a few days if the posties feel like it) There was a very big surprise at first. You can tell straight away its a full range cab without a tweeter - While this sounds like a criticism, Its a really solid base to build your tone off, and it reacts to EQ'ing very well. I only needed to scoop a touch off 300hz and roll the treble back a touch to be exactly where i wanted to be. Which is a vintage tone with a slight bit of growl over the top. Lovely. When i spoke to Alex i told him that i really like having a vintage tone, but with a modern presence. and thats when he suggested the vintage to me. I'm gigging and providing backline for the support tomorrow, So i'll be able to tell you what it sounds like both sides of the barrier. But for now, I'd say im satisfied. Whats also interesting (and im sorry to bound some non-technical terms around again) but i find this has the same "punch in the stomach" responsivness-oomph that i've only ever had before with schroeders, that inherent begging from it to be pushed harder. This is interesting as Chris (Finbar) a dedicated schroeder user said this was what was missing when he tried the compact. an you shed any light on this Alex? or is it just that he has better ears than me! I'll come back tomorrow with more conclusive results. But for now pictures are over in the "show us your rig" section. Lovely!
Good review and pretty much what i have found as well. I'll tell you what, you'll love it standing in the audience! I did a gig about a month back with no PA support for the bass, one bass player turned everything up to 10 and the place was literally shaking with the amount of bass goodness, and the cab survived! Cracking bit of gear and my favourite amplificatory purchase ever, probably
is this only open for attendees of the bash? Giving and receiving?
Good question. I know previous years we have allowed this to be open to all, so I need to come up with a plan for that. Watch this space, i'll let you know in the next 24 hours how i think it should work (and if anyone has any previous experience or ideas, please PM me!)
2x15? Barefaced Vintage.
+1000000 or something
Im so glad you posted that WoT, Its subdued my wonderment somewhat! The tone you get with your jazz is pretty much what im aiming for - deep and rich, with just a hint of a snarly overtone. Lovely. 2 daysss!
Oh you are going to be so happy! I reckon we go for similar sounding rigs, knowing what you've had in the past. The Vintage is the dog's danglies, hell yes.
-
I would say roughly £400-450 for the whole rig.
Yep, sounds about right to me
I cant wait to post in this thread again soon....
Looking forward to seeing your new rig
Conversely, I'm planning on never having to post in this thread again S.P.
Me too. I give it a year before there's a different amp (or at least a "backup" amp) with me though, I am fickle and I want an Eden Nemesis again.

Lightweight gear moving (on its own) on stage
Merton replied to onehappybunny's topic in Amps and Cabs
A well-engineered cab won't move, as it'll have bracing inside to stop all the internal resonances which would otherwaise make it wander about As for the lightweight head, use velcro/blu-tac/glue/the drummer as you see fit. -
Well, I think I'm the only one with a Barefaced Vintage and my LH500 will be in the car anyway for a gig that night, so it can come in if necessary or stay out if not. I reckon it'll probably come in and sit on top of the Vintage tho

Well finally had a chance to check my cover (it arrived this morning) and it fits perfectly... So maybes I have the odd one out?
-
Recieved my cover today, very good fit but the side handle slots do not line up
Mine is waiting for me at home so will check mine tonight. As I asked early (and Owain has subsequently) - where are your handles? If you gave Roqsolid you own measurements then it's confusing, if you used my measurements then there's something generally different about yours and Owain's cabs!!

Best get ordering this... whoop!
