Trace Elliot V-Type 600 Valve/MOSFET Rig
Merton replied to jonnyfastfingers's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Hey, I'm interested in the flight-cased Cab, but was wondering if you could give me some idea of cab impedance and power rating?- I really struggle to find info about old Trace Elliot cabs!
It's 320W, 8 ohms. 4x 80W Celestion-made, Trace Elliot-badged drivers PS, to the OP: if these are still here can we have a rough price please? V interested in the head -
Doubt about a Trace Elliot stack. Can you help me?

bollocks. I've only ever owned carpeted trace except for the v type combo and it was/is bombproof. -
Are you referring to the head? It has one 8 ohm output so you can drive one 8 ohm cab or two 16 ohm cabs in parallel or two 4 ohm cabs in series. If it's the combo you can only use the internal speaker. Hope that helps

None of it gibson, the smc you have is just pre-gibson (tho it was a model during the gibson years too) and the two cabs are older than that -

Chris has been an absolute gent, as has his partner Carrie. He let me borrow his Nemesis NA650 to try on a gig before I took the plunge to buy, and he's been patient with me whilst I eventually got the time to contact him 24-48 hours later to confirm I'd buy it. With a bit of luck he'll have the mony in his account tomorrow, but for now I'd like to saythanks Chris, it was a pleasure

Had two dealings with zephead in the last week, for a bass and a (still to ship!) flightcase. Both occasions were a pleasure and I'd have no prob dealing with Mike again - cheers!
SERVICE? Maybe the preamp tube is buggered???
What cab are you using? What comp settings - if used incorrectly this can f**k things up right royally? Any fx? Doubt it's the tube, more likely just needs an EQ tweak but a service certainly wouldn't hurt

What an awful tragedy My sincere condolences to all family and friends. Kinda puts things in perspective.
Very thorough! however, i think im going to do the following; Take valves out, hoover. Should do the trick, thankyou! Just had a play through it though, and my god is 100 watts of valve loud. Im genuinly struggling to hear any volume difference between it and my old shuttle 6.0. I love me valves i do!
Pics! Need pics. Oh, and I need first refusal when you move it on
Will I damage my amp if I plug my bass into the "wrong" input? I presume the active input is to prevent a really hot bass overloading the preamp. My Ibanez is an active bass (in that it has a battery-powered tone control) but the output doesn't seem very high. If I plug it into the active input then I have to turn the amp's volume control up to get it as loud as if I'd plugged into the passive input. So I'm working the output stage harder. Plug into the passive input and I can turn it down - but what's best? I should mention it's a Hartke LH500 which doesn't have a separate gain control.
No. But if it sounds bad, turn down. I have an LH500 and an 18V Status bass. I plug into the passive input to get a bit of grind from the tube. It's lovely
Ah, I'll see if my ears come off then, and measure. If it fits, I could be interested as the thing is a pain to transport otherwise. Thanks, James
I have a picture somewhere of my LH500 in this, that is a rackmount head; the ears help it fit perfectly width-wise, but depending on the amp (I guess yours is a 2U?) then you'll have to find a way to pad the amp a lot on top or bottom...
Am I being a simpleton? How does an amp bolt in? Or doesn't it? I have a Warwick WAMP 300, would it fit that do you think? I'm struggling to get measurements for mine as I can't find a tape measure. Argh!
Is it a rackmount head? This case was designed for a head in a wooden sleeve so no bolting in like a rack, it was just an incredibly snug, cushioned fit

TE said they'd be available in Rack-mountable units, and they've had the power stages upgraded to 2x600W from 2x500W.

A quick post to make public a very generous offer of Chris' (er, that's bassmeg!). He's going to lend me the NA650 for a gig next weekend so I can A/B it against my LH500 and decide whether or not to pull the trigger (of course if my various bits sell then the decision will be a lot easier hopefully ). I'm arranging the courier at my cost - if i like i then buy, if I don't like I get the amp back to Chris by Jan 27th. The reason I'm letting everyone know is so Chris has peace of mind I won't disappear with the amp. There's no place to hide for me - a number of you guys on here have my phone no. and/or email address (and maybe even know where I live ) but I know I'm an honest chap and will have this all wrapped up one way or the other by Jan 27th. Hopefully I'll be in possession of a 2nd bass amp Cheers bassmeg!
