1. Hi Martin! About 27kg IIRC And no 2x10 to sell, but I'll go and buy one if you want to buy it from me...?
  2. Merton

    I'm off to NZ.

Keep meaning to pop up on here and say good luck and you will be missed! Hope the move works out for you, when things pick up be sure to come back
  3.
but its finding the time thats a problem.
Find the time, find the time!! Only kidding very excited about seeing this in the next few months!
  4.
I'm really interested in the wee 8 by 4 cab... but I suppose it would cost about a million euros to post to Dublin Ireland?
PM'd
  5.
I've already put this in its own thread, but I suppose it belongs here. S.P.
Well, I have the same amp and I hoping to have the same cab very soon. Not copying you, honest! This rig is immense yet compact, love it
  6.
Officially my favourite bass player.
+1 His tone on all three albums gives me tingles, especially the V-Type on Paranoid and Sunburnt
  7. ALL SOLD, THANKS! OK people, the time has come for me to put my money where my mouth is and buy the cab I've been harping on about for ages - the mighty Barefaced Compact. Therefore, with much regret but hope in my heart, I am letting these two fine cabinets go, a 2007 Trace Elliot 1518 and a V-Type 4x8 cab. They're my favourite Trace cabs ever, the 4x8 is one which I will truly miss as it's a great little cab, but needs must and I need lighter, louder gear V-Type 4x8 - SOLD A cracking cab. 240W, 8 ohms, punchy, smooth and tight bass. Nice. This is pretty damn rare, I've seen one other on fleabay and that's it. Price reflects rarity and condition (which is pretty damn good for a 14/15yr old cab!) EDIT: comes with 2 spare Celestion BG60 drivers (custom made for this cab) 1518 - SOLD As I've said on here, this is the best Trace 1x15 I've ever played through. 500W, 8 ohms. It's tighter, deeper and rounder in tone than the old 1518. And it's much lighter - I can carry this in one hand (though that is difficult coz it's a biggie!) Comes with the Trace embroidered cover. I traded this for my old V-Type combo with Tinman, he can give you more low-down if he so wishes! I've gigged this precisely twice and I think Tinman only used it a few times. It's in fine condition, a few marks here and there but nothing more than that. Priced to sell (hopefully). (Beautifully demonstrated by BC's very own Mr Truscott. He doesn't come with the cab I'm afraid. Nor does the Hartke or the Status
  8.
Sounds like a fine plan, I'll get the kettle on! What I rekon we should do is, when this ones finished, you look after it for a few months and tell me what you like and what you want changed for your one.
Sounds like a fine plan
  9.
Mertons a little bit busy right now () so heres a pic to keep the thread going...
Nice one Mikey! Can't wait to get my mitts on either this proto or my one1 Thinking I might bring the famerlee up in Octoer half term and do the tourist thing never did whilst at university. Plus, of course, I'll need to drop in and play the bass etc...
  10.
Like I say, I hate to have to put this up for sale, but needs must unfortunately!! Sorry Merton!! I'd love to keep hold of it, hope you can see my reasons.
So you should be 2 valves in the preamp, solid state power amp (I think it's the Bipolar Bear board but can't remember). Cracking combo, just VERY heavy!

Fabric weave grille looked sh*t, so I painted the speaker baffle. Colour courtesy of my 5 year old step-daughter Sophie: Shoulda painted the baffle before I did all the covering of course, but that ruins the fun
  13.
The first 'vintage look' Compact:
Only just spotted this, been busy with Theo This cab looks cracking
  14. Very nice indeed! I need this rig myself one day...
  15. Cheers Colin! Yes, I have an LH500 you're welcome to have a play about, but I'm not really very mobile at the mo (at home bonding with MiniMert, 4 days old now) and I need it a lot over the next few weeks. PM me and we can prob sort something tho Mert

Well, MiniMert was due to arrive yesterday... ...he didn't. So today I did all the stuff I said I was gonna do last month, except the fabric weave grille, coz I did it twice and it looked sh*t both times. So here it is, without the front grille but I'm quite liking the utilitarian look. It needs some cleaning up mind.... The stuff used to glue the vinyl tot he wooden cab is f**king nasty! 17. Lovely lovely lovely. I suspect it would show off far too much of my bad technique but I'd love to give one a go sometime.
  18.
To the best of my knowledge Trace didn't make a 12-band EQ amp with valve frontend so I think thats a misnomer.
Trace did do a valvey range with the 7- and 12-band Series 6 preamp as the basis - this is wher ethe Twin Valve, Quatravalve and hexavalve come into play. They also did them as 2x10 and 1x15 conbos hence why we think it might be a very rare 12-band one of those (I've only ever seen 7-band 1x15 combos).
  19. I think the 1215V is likely to be either a Series V (i.e. mid/late 1980's) or a 1215 with 12-band valve preamp instead of the usual solid state jobbie, from the early 1990's. In either case it'll be a lovely combo, but if it really is a valve combo it will be lush (though I really don't know if they ever did a 1x15 version as well as the 2x10).
  20.
I'll be A/Bing a Compact and a Peavey 4x10 on Sunday. I'll let you know what happens.
The Compact will win EDIT: and I don't even know what they're fighting (tone/volume/portability/low frequency extension...)
  21. Alex, these are looking great My initial plan of having two Compacts this year seems a little far-fetched now I'm actually being realistic about miniMert costs, but give it a year or two and i can look like I've jumped onto the bandwagon
