1. Somewhere between none and not enough sadly, life is just getting in my way But I doodle on my acoustic bass a fair bit, not serious practice though. EDIT (read the full first post Mert!!) I play live a lot more than practicing...
2. First GAS of 2009, well on Sunday I'm meeting up with Tinman to swap Trace Elliot gear And I'm having a chat to someone about a V-Type preamp, the one thing I have said I'd do anything to get my mitts on... Not sure if it'll happen or not, but we'll see. Other than that, no new arrivals on the bass/amp front this year[sup]*[/sup], just MiniMert in April *unless the MikeyR 5 string singlecut multiscale is finished this year, of course!
3.
Cheers! I wish it wasn't THAT heavy! BTW I'm waiting for a used Ritter Classic fiver to arrive this week and it's only going to weigh about 4 kgs:
Nice! Does that mean you can sell me the Wal 5er for 50p? £1?
4. My theory is OK. Not great, but not non-existant. I really want to practice and work on it, but finding the time is next to impossible, and this is before MiniMert arrives!! God knows what will happen then I often feel like my playing suffers because my theory isn't too hot - it's a weakness and I am embarrassed that it's not as strong as it should be.
5. I'm driving past Epsom later on, can I pop in and nick this? Cheers!
6. On the very rare occasions I go into a shop and pick up a bass, I play basslines wot I play in my bands. But I haven't tried a bass in a shop for years, the only one I ever actually got from a shop was my first one back in '93...
7. I want the jigsaw bass. Awesome.
8.
So.....discussing the cab with Mrs T: She says: "It looks the same as what you've already got........it's green, with four blobs in the middle" Oh dear lord
Haha! You could have possibly gotten away with it if it wasn't for [s]those pesky kids[/s] the forum
9. Hell yes! I was looking at a similar set up - my new rig will be revealed on Sunday tho
10.
Anyone had any experience with these cabs. I have the urge to run 2 together.
Do it, it'll be great Never used one, mind. But I reckon it'll be great
11. Cheers Matt, that's saved me a job tonight!
12. Nice cat, and nice MB rig I like the look of those 1x15 cabs - how do they sound?
13. Status? Playability? You won't find a better playing instrument, IMO.
14. I've changed my mind. I want either a Midget Twin (get in!!) or a Big Twin Sub - I'm mad AND deaf
15. Well, it sounds bloody good with the 1x15 combo.... It can come up for the ride on Sunday and you can have a look
16.
I did this in Amsterdam - I wouldn't do it again.

Don't you already have one and a second impending? Alex
Excellent, I set 'em up, you boys knock 'em in. Keep them coming!
17. Withdrawn thanks to Nic and Mr & Mrs Tinman and their common sense. Plus it sounds awesome with my new 1x15
18.
Depends on where the two guitards set up!!!
But it's kinda nail -> head for my function band. Having a guitarist either side of the drummer, one who sings lead, plus a female lead singer, means we have to balance somehow. So it's guitarist and female singer on the left of the drummer, me and male singer/guitarist on the right. Not sure why we've never done it the other way around, but it's been a habit since day one and that's that. Doesn't worry me, though I do prefer being on the left for the reasons mentioned above, since our monitoring and general onstage banter is always good
19. For some odd reason I am always on the ride cymbal side in my function band, but hi-hat side in my originals band. I think it's just the way the function band balances better visually but it doesn't make any difference to me.
20. Sounds worrying - any updates? Hopefully positivie ones!
21. I vote A too. B is too long vs the body (as BigRedX has said) and C seems a bit angular in comparison to the body. I like A a lot
22.
About the 3rd fret parallel thing - as the biggest stretch is down this end of the neck, and both me and Mert do most of our playing down there (being BASS players and all ), it makes best sense to make this end the most familiar. As you move up the neck, your fingers naturally start to angle in the direction of the frets, so I think its going to be a win.
Wot 'e said BTW, "a few months" to me means about 3 years, so we're still on track
