I must stress, the bass head isnt the GP12SMX pre amp head, its the actual Series 6 GP12 head So im hoping this will work the same Only reason i added that is because it says "71-RACK-KIT-TE Stainless Steel Rack Kit Fits Most 2 Space Rack Units Series 6, GP7SM and GP12SMX $19.99 Pair, USD" Which seems to me like its for the GP12SMX, But i dont know if there's any difference in the measurements?
If you look again it does actually say "Series 6" on the BAS quote so you'll be fine
Umm, can't the 900 run 2 Vintages?
Even better
I wonder how much of the 'woolly Ashdown' moans are related to specific speaker cabs? Unless an amp is complete rubbish (which I know Ashdown amps are far from being!) it should be pretty easy to EQ out wooliness. Alex
Indeedy. I bet an ABM900 through the Vintage would destroy my home and sound delicious.

Who was playing a wedding at Minster Lovell on Saturday Night?
Merton replied to cd_david's topic in General Discussion
Well, I was playing a wedding. But not in Oxforsdshire. So, not I. -
Working on it, I've seen some on a digital camera or two but not yet been given any copies

Gigged this baby 3 times in the last 11 days, that's about 5 1/2 hours of giggage so far under its belt. Nothing but compliments from me (obviously), the soundmen, the audience. Plays great, sounds great, looks great. Now got a 2 week wait til the next gig (boo!) but it'll be there and it'll be rather fine at what it does. One thing I've noticed, it's bloody good at staying in tune, which is great! Slight tweaks out of the gigbag and that's it for a gig. Nice Having gigged it this much, my comments in the previous post are pretty much still accurate, there's not a lot (design-wise) I'd like to change on my bass.

Gigged the Vintage twice this weekend, yesterday was a sh*tty pub gig with lots of emo haircuts using my rig. One guy, with a really cool mullet, thought the best thing to do was use his Hartke HA3500 head, boost all the lows and turn the wick up to 10. Honestly, the bass sounded like it was going through my function band's 6kW PA subs but was only going through the Vintage. Awesome power! Seems to have survived the haircuts too

I am potentially making a pigs ear of my set up
actually that is funnily enough one of my thoughts. If you will excuse the question, have you got a big one? (oh dear..)
No, I don't. Oh dear, poor Nic! Ahem. No, I have a Vintage but had the pleasure of having the pre-prod Big One in my possession for a month or two at the beginning of the year and it is a bloody fantastic cab. Oooodles of bass, ooodles of mid and ooodles of shimmery top end, and it's so sensitive and loud I made the flat shake with the volume on one (LH500 powering it). Lovely! -
Sometimes its nice to get the full power from the head into one cab....depends on space/needs I guess. I have some 8 ohm cabs and 1 4x10 Berg 4 ohm cab.

I have hit the limiter on my old LM2 at 300w - where it wont go any louder, so just would prefer the full 500w headroom
In both instances, a more sensitive cab would help. That said, I don't know the specs of the Markbass cabs so forgive me if I'm talking sh*te and generally not helping -

Why do you "need" the full 500W from the Markbass heads? -
Sold a flightcase to Pete (Stylon Pilson) this week and it was lovely. Pete was a pleasure to deal with, very easy and quick sale, cheers!
It's important to bear in mind that you will almost never come across a bass player that doesn't like fat low end! However, the amount of bottom, and particularly the extension in the lows which that equates to, varies hugely from player to player. Alex
...And that's precisely why I've moved away from TE cabs to Barefaced. That said, Trace's latest 1518 is a monstrous cab. As for the heads, love em but found myself getting frustrated with the graphic EQ, much prefer the passive 3-band tone stack on the V-Types and Hartke LH series

SOLD......Trace Elliot V-Type 1x15 Combo.....SOLD

Bass: slipped over on a slippery floor at a gig, broke the jack socket on my bass and dented the body. Twas only a cheap Dean though so didn't really matter. Amp: Nothing since 1997 when a friend of mine dropped my Trace Commando combo and the heatsinks fell off the power trannies. Caused lots of overheating but Trace fixed it FoC depsite it being about a year out of warranty. Nice

My functions band is a democracy if the drummer or singer get their way... If they're at loggerheads then it's really quite interesting. My originals band started out as a backing band for a singer who wrote everything himself but has morphed into a democracy over the years I've been in it.

I'd have the same cab and bass that I have, but get a Trace V6 or V8 EDIT: I'd actually commission Mikey to make me lots of basses, plus I'd get an S2 Classic 5 string
I've been thinking about that and it makes sense to offer such options. So going forward you'll be able to have black with silver cloth grill as standard, or specially order: Black metal grill (no cost) Custom cloth (+£25) Custom colour metal grill (+£50) White finish (+£25) Custom colour finish (+£50) Alex
Bollocks. An all white one would have been awesome Gigged it twice this weekend people, and it has very quickly become my favourite bass sound ever. I finally hear only the bass and amp, no speaker distortion. The cab will do deep or bright, middy or smiley, and it will do all without breaking a sweat. And my god is it loud. And light. Lovely!
You see to me, That was a VERY useful video, Thanks! The tone you got from that sadowsky is exactly the tone im aiming for (and getting) a lot of the time at the moment, And the Bergs are what i would have shot for if i was in a funky band. But< im doing blues and rock and roll, After talking to Alex for a bit we decided that the slight roll off on the highs of the vintage (Or lack of any peaks up that end) would stop it sounding like i was building a shed at the same time. If your telling me that the vintage can do both, then well, I'm going to be a happy bunny! Thanks so much for that!
Ste, I have a feeling you'll love the Vintage. What amp are you using?

Fascinating stuff, and kudos to Alex for helping Myke out. I am one of the lucky few to have played through a Compact, Big One and a Vintage and I have to say all three are bloody brilliant. I'd love to gig a Big One one day as I thnk I'd make our drummr sh*t himself every time I hit a bottom E, it's a stunningly good cab. But I prefer a slightly less crisp top end and the Vintage does that for me beautifully. Myke; if the Big One isn't for you then i suggest a Hartke LH500 with a Vintage. Tonal bliss and a very "classic rock/blues" sound
