1. Haven't used it in anger yet - first gig is tomorrow night and I can't wait Will post a report on Monday while at work. Going to change the stock valve AFTER the gig so I can get a better idea of the "tweakability" too.... EDIT - that's going to be a Raytheon 12AX7 which I tried in my Trace GP12 preamp, much better than the stock Sovtek in that so I expect similar differences in the LH500. More sparkle, more bass and "warmth" in theory...
2. Winners! One LH1000 on its way to you Good work
3. The sound of two 1x15s is a joy to behold
4. Maplin do a cool aluminium case - I think it's in a sale for £15 at the mo. Not sure if the TF will fit but when I owned an Eden nemesis NA320 it fitted perfectly
5. Flightcase Warehouse Fine flightcases
6. I thought you were getting a new bass? Haha! Love it, it looks awesome
7.
Dont assume that active basses are always hotter than passive basses either. Some passive basses can have really hot pups and outputs. Some active basses dont have super hot outputs either just the ability to drive long leads or sometimes a balanced output. Its always best to use your ears.
Indoodly. My cheap Vester J copy had a hotter output than my old Groove 5 and pretty much matches my Retroactive; my Groove fretless in passive mode has the hottest output EVER. Honest
8.
Good value basses, the Jack, and a nicer shape than a Status. **covers head and runs for cover!!**
Run faster
9. Trace Elliot V-Type 1x15 combo. Light? Not really - 30kg - but it has castors Loud? Yup Tone? For days
10. It's got level controls for "Normal" and "Octave" signals, just turn them up??? I never had a problem with volume
11.
Even if the preamp is overdriven to ridiculous levels you won't damage it.
Good point
12. Welcome to the forum! A couple of qs: what budget do you have? what music do you want to play?
13. It shouldn't matter, as long as you're not overdriving the preamp too hard it'll be fine. Use your ears I always plug my active (18V) Status into the passive i/p on my Trace, always have and always will, coz there's enough headroom. On an Eden Nemesis head I had for a short while I had to use the active pad or it would overload the preamp too much. Each amp is different, so just use your ers
14.
I've used CDbaby and it looks like we're finally on iTunes! Alex
Aye, same here (Linkies to both in my sig!)

Bolin NS 5

Lovely bass, good luck with the sale!
16.
They are lengthening the B string without increasing the scale length, presumably to improve the tension, playability and tone.
Aye, very like the upside down Hamer headstock on their Chapparel 5 strings. Why couldn't they put all the other tuners in line with this tho? That's what I want to know! Anyhoo, sorry for the thread hijack, lovely bass
17.
Inovative "Extended B" peghead design Seems like a good idea actually!!!
Still looks wrong to me, stupid idea! (But will now go and find out why Fodera do it...)
18.
... a 2x15'...
Now that's a speaker config you really could call the Big One!
19.
As a famous player (I think it was Jamerson) once said, the funk is in the fingers. You can buy all the gear that player X uses, and believe me stick around here and you will see plenty of clones, put if you dont play like they do you wont sound like they do. The Ox always sounded like the Ox no matter what he was playing, even though some people did not like his later sound it was always Ox sound.
Slightly OT but following on from this, there's a thread on TB at the mo about Rocco Prestia needing a new amp - several guys are saying how they've seen him play Edens, SWRs, GKs etc etc and all the time just sounds the same. Same with me, I can play Ashdowns, Hartkes, Traces, etc etc and still always sound sh*t
20.
Aw f*** it, Friday probably! [NHS pay day]
Good man!
21. I gave into temptation and, as a Christmas/ well-done-for-paying-off-a-chuink-of-CC-bill present I bought one from Coda on Monday, it arrived yesterday and immediately went into hiding in my old Trace head's flightcase so that Nic doesn't notice immediately It won't get a proper going over til Sunday's wedding but I have to say I'm dead excited! So when are you giving in?
