1. Chronologically: 65W Vox Escort, 40W Laney, 100W Trace Elliot Commando combos. Then I finally got a "proper" rig in about 2002
 2. Well, things have been dead quiet on this due to Mikey's neighbours being *really cool* but Mikey sent me some pics last night of the prototype. It looks sweeeeeeeet: (Bass Colleciton there for comparison) I reckon it looks good with the darker top wood, but I think the rippled olive ash will be something else More pics tonight!
 3. Almost I love my Retroactive and Groove fretless going into my Trace V-Type 1x15 combo, it's the best sound ever IMHO. Can't wait to get started on the 1x15 extension cab for that, then the rig is sorted. All I want/need now is a Status 5 string again when I can afford it. Oh, and the Merton and MikeyR singlecut multiscale 5 string will be cool
 4. Some pics:
 5. How about "The one which caused our ears to bleed"?
 6. MIM Jazzes have slightly longer pickups than MIA Jazzes. Weird, I know. I discovered this when trying to replace the PUs in my old MIM jazz. Think the only ones which fitted were Bartolini 57J's and they were next to impossible to pin down, had to buy them from Jack Read in the good ole US of A. Course, they might have changed the spec since then (it was a late 1990s bass IIRC).
 7.
this is such a long thread so please dont shout at me for not reading all of it but... im thinking about getting a SWR 350x amp. it has a tube preamp. it says no where in the instructions about letting it warm up, so is this necessary? there is also no standby switch. anyway i play a lot of RHCP covers, and play a lot of 'furious' slapping and tapping. i was just wondering if a tube preamp would sound alright? because i am worried it will just sound all overdriven with not much punch or growl. any imput would be greatly appreciated
I tend to assoicate growl with mild overdrive, so saying you want one and not the other confuses me No worries re. preamp valve, it shouldn't need time to warm up due tot eh way it is designed into that circuit.
 8.
"Fronted by former three-times world champion kickboxer Cengiz Dervis".... So you have no problems at your gigs then
Haha! He actually got done for ABH once when 3 big mofos tried mugging him, he wriggled free then ended up leaving them each with at least one broken rib
 9.
A little question about gain. On the Trace I had to put the gain up to 7 before it clipped on this I put it up to 4 but that is with my P on the Ampeg but my Jazz on the Trace. Do you you have to put the gain up more for a higher output pick up or a lower output pick up?
I think that's more to do with the fact that Trace heads seem to have copious amounts of headroom on their input stage. I can crank my Traces much higher on the gain before clipping, with Ampegs, Edens, Peaveys etc I'm always around 2-4ish, with Trace it's anywhere from 7-10. Just different design is all. (But yes, single coil vs humbucker picukps will have different outputs too)
 10. Oh yeah, the sound of the EBS thru this thru OBBM's 6x10 berg was astonishing!
 11. New favourite sounds: My V-Type going through the Compact CK's Shuttle going through the Compact andyonbass' LH500 going through the Compact. Er. I like that cab!
 12. Wedding on Sat night after the SE Bash. Was a small room so we were quieter on stage, which is a Good Thing. Went well, except when I walked into a big glass window just before the 2nd set.
 13.
Would have loved to have played a Status or three - but sadly no-one brought any.
Does my Retroactive not count? Hehe, only kidding, I know what you were really after. A Streamline
 14.
merton is challenging Shuker's building time () with an extension cab for it too
I'm gonna beat him to the longest build ever, sad to say it won't be ready before I fook off on holiday on Weds, sorry Gutted. I guess that's the trouble with trying to fit it in around work, gigs, rehearsals and family stuff, haha! What's that you ask? Before 2011? Hopefully!
 15. Excellent gig - sorry we couldn't stay longer. Your GB sounded immense thru the EBS , and as for the fretless P... Droooool. Awesome band, looking forward to the next one!
 16. Brilliant day, cheers to all who turned up and made it the day it was. Thanks to Nik for his fundamental role in the organisation, and to John East, Adrian Ashton, Alex Claber, Bernie Goodfellow and Joe White for their excellent contributions. Pics are to come later on when Head Office isn't shouting at me to go out to the shops! Mert
 17.
Yes Ped and I are arriving together so expect a dramatic entrance consisting of ball gowns, tiaras, stair cases and paparazzi. Its such a hard life being celebrities.
I have the spotlights ready, plus the Pearl and Dean theme
 18.
lets do a BFM vs Claber shoot out using my GB Shuttle.
Ooooh, fight! Is the V8 still coming?
 19. Official times are 10am to 4pm £10 per person, profits to charidee and BC Raffle 4 seminars Lots of basses and amps to ogle! If you google "Holiday Inn Guildford" you'll get all the travel info you need
 20. Can I pay you a pound a day for the next 4.65 years? Someone please keep this in the BC family.
 21. Did you ever compare this with its smaller brother, the NA320? If so, was it noticeably more powerful? Part of me is very very interested in this but: 1. I need to shift my V-Type rig first (tho it looks like I have a buyer, I need to pull my finger out!) 2. I'd need to persuade Head office that I'm allowed it. She likes the blue light so I might be onto a winner, but we have more important things coming up next year (mini-Mert!).
 22.
My back is feeling decidedly healthy at the moment, so perhaps we could arrange a temporary swap - my tech 15 and head for your 4x8 combo. A couple of weeks of that should see me back at the chiropractor's in no time.
I'll be round at 7!
P.S. Only joking - I've only just managed to get my mate's V-Type combo out of the house and back into storage. The wife would lynch me if another one appeared.
D'oh What I REALLY want to do a temporary swap on is my Retroactive for someone else's 5 string S2 bolt on....
And in my experience, a 'feeler' without a price usually either gets no interest, or idiots offering £200
I'll give you £200 Doing more work on the cab tonight!
 24.
It's lightweight compared to my mate's Trace Elliot 4x8 V-Type combo. I swear people have suffered a rectal prolapse when lifting these things.
I haven't. Yet.
