1. (In reference to my last post...) Whoops
  2. And here's me thinking about pulling the trigger on the Hartke LH500, which can be cunningly stored in the function band's lock up for Nic to never know... Good luck! I got away with it earlier this year when buying a 4x8 Trace cab, so you never know your luck...
  3.
edit: If anyone has a history behind the V6 I'd be really interested.. ie the V4 and V8 are more obviously little/big brother with the 2 gain / compressor / half power options and a near-identical look, whereas the V6 seems a different beast altogether with none of those features and a completely different design. And if anyone has a PDF manual, it'd be appreciated as the TE website has a V4 and V8 manual, but no V6.
The V6 was the forerunner to the V4/V8. The initial V-Type range came out in about 1995 (I think) with an all-valve head (220W, sometimes called the V4), a hybrid combo (250W MOSFET - I have one and love it) and the standalone preamp. This range got revamped into the V6, 300H and 600H heads (V6 being all valve 400W, 300H and 600H being MOSFET power amps) plus the revised 1x15 combo and a 4x8 combo + ext cab. Then the "newer" V-Type range superseded that in about 1999 with the V4, V8 and the new V4 combos.
  4. Buy it for me!
  5.
Down to 38.1p / watt including delivery. Santa!

Blimey - that's ridiculous!
Hate to say it but Coda Music have that beat - £319 + delivery. At worst you're looking at £15 delivery, so that's 33.5p/watt...
  6.
Schoolboy error mate, get the money first!
9 times out of 10 we do actually. Good point. F**k it, the wedding on the 21st of December is going ot get Rime of the Ancient Mariner, followed by some Rush or something
  7. We don't do obscure songs, as we're there to get the wedding crowd/party crowd on the dancefloor. We'd love to play Rime of the Ancient Mariner (Maiden) or Overture (early Def Leppard) but we'd never get paid at the end of the gig.
  8.
Your build diary seems to have gone a bit quiet...what's the story? See ya Sunday
Build stalled by winter weather mainly! Hopefully back on track spring time... See ya Sun
  9. Only one more this year - a wedding on Sun 21st. We made the decision a year ago to cut back to a very bare December this year after the last few being mad, we're all looking forward to speding Xmas and NY Eves with our families for a change

    SOLD
...has anybody sent a bass for a neck and tuners to be fitted?
stingrayfan (Matt) has, and I'm sure others have too. Good luck with the sale - I would have it if I could, love these basses!
  11. Spunky's, definitely
  12. Fine bass Sarah - I used to have the 4 string version. Enjoy
  13.
Mert, you had that Citroen BX at Uni, do you see a resemblance...?
Now you mention it... Yes, I see! It's held together with gaffa tape!
  14.
Passing resemblance is right not a copy so I don't see a problem. I spoke to Mike at the bassday and said it was in the same ballpark shape wise but I didn't say stop making it or anything like that so fire away guys. Alan
Alan, you are a good man Btw, played a couple of your basses at the SE bass Bash. Amazing! Will definitely get me a Harlot one day...
  15. At first I didn't see the resemblance, then I realised I wasn't thinking of the Skelf... As I've said to Mikey, yes it does bear a passing resemblance but the bridge area is different and Mikey's shape is more "angular" I think. Chunkier lower horn too. Other opinions needed!
  16. I would if I could but I can't. Have a bump on me for my favourite preamp
  17.
Me too. ROAD TRIP!
Plan! Everyone get 10 CDs, bring an acoustic bass for playing in the back of the car and let's get on it
  18. We'll be there again! Hooray! May only manage first set depending on how Nic's feeling tho (5 months in and all)...
  19. Chris, Good luck sorting this. If you need a spare amp while Steve looks at yours I'm not too far away either (oh, and I'll give a thumbs up to his service too ) If I lived near Allen_Baker I'd be happy to have words, but alas I'm at the other end of the country Mert
  20.
My quest for a high end jazz is on hold for now, as I've just sold and shipped my KingBass so I'm off down to Status to buy something stock next week. Rich.
Oooooooh, can't wait to find out what!
  21. Not sure why I never answered this before I have 4, sort of: 1. Status Retroactive J, yum yum. Only one other bass has been so playable and so "me", that was the Groove 5 I sold a few months back to SFN, now with Trace_n_Bass I believe?? 2. Status Groove fretless, yum yum. Oh wait, this is equally as playable as the Retroactive, just I'm not as good without frets 3. Vester Jazz copy, my first bass so sentimental reasons won't let me sell it, plus it's prob worth about 50p. Plays and sounds nice though, for a cheapy. 4. Galveston electro-acoustic firewood
  22. Saturday - last gig for a while with our female singer as she's off on maternity leave. All a bit emotional but a cracking wedding gig, packed dancefloor and 3 encores I played like a lemon in a couple of songs in the 2nd set but generally the band was cooking on gas. Had some weird issues with my pedal board but fortunately only during the verse of "Honky Tonk Woman" so I had time to fix it Decided I really must get my arse in gear and finish my 1x15 cab, the bass was sounding cracking but the single 15 of the combo alone would've sounded even sweeter with an identical twin... We'll miss P, but when she's back next year it'll be awesome. Her dep is a pretty fine singer but I've known P since we were 13 so it's gonna be a different relationship...
  23. Hello! I have a pedal board. It's mostly lovely, with a cheap Behringer overdrive and Aria chrous thrown in for good measure. The chain goes thusly: Boss TU2 -> TE Dual Compressor -> EBS Octabass -> Ibanez SB7 -> Aria chorus -> Behringer OD -> SansAmp BDDI -> PA and bass amp This is not a "change the order of the fx" question, and I don't care what is "normal" etc, this is how it sounds best for me. However, recently 2 things started going iffy. 1. I leant the BDDI to a friend at work for a whole 2 nights, since it's come back the switch has been mighty temperamental, taking a lot of on/offs to latch either on or off. I run with the phantom power/ground connected switch "on" as the desk feeds me phantom. I have not had a battery in the unit for years due to this method of connectivity. The guy I leant the pedal to put a battery in to try it out and it is still in there. Is it a dicky switch or some weird battery artefact, or related to problem #2?... 2. I power the TU2, EBS, Ibanez, Aria and Behringer from the same 9V source - it can easily handle the current capacity as it has a max of 1A and none of those pedals use more than 100mA. Before the Ibanez arrived I daisy chained from the power adaptor to each pedal, no problem. When the Ibanez arrived I changed this to power suppply into the TU2 then all pedals chained off the PSU output of that. Now I get an intermittent weirdness whereby sometimes turning one pedal on or off (normally either the TU2, EBS or Aria) makes all the pedals flicker on and off and everything gets noisy and crackly through my amp. The Aria still has a battery in it from when I was given the pedal - I can't open the f**king thing up to get it out as the screws are buggered. I am not yet able to play with this at home as the pedal board etc is in the band's lock up. However, I'd be keen for any insight into why this is happening? Is it to do with the new power arrangement? The battery in the Aria? Aliens? The recession? Cheers peeps!
  24.
Last time I bought a piece of amplification, I had someone else play into it with their bass, whilst I "adjusted" it to see what we could squeeze out of it. Then we worked our way through all the equipment I wanted to try. Works quite well if you realise that no two players are the same and bear that in mind! He'd just had his bass modded, and ultimately we disagreed on what amp was best. Needless to say, I bought the one I liked, as it was my money. Interesting exercise, though.
Good way to do things. When I bought my first cab for my first "big rig" I took a couple of friends and we spent 4 hours in Electromusic in Doncaster playing EVERYTHING. We all came to slightly different conclusions based on our own ideas but we all agreed it was between 3 cabs. Great fun, would love to have the time, money and need to do that again
  25.
I read on google that mixing different cabs without some sort of crossover can give unpredictable results.
