1. Once Nik is back from his holiday we'll have to figure it out and let everyone know final date etc. Prob about this time next week I imagine.
  2. This will be cool! I'd go for the left hand wood, looks like the Moo-wood so prevalent on Statii.com I think my next Status order will be going in just after Christmas hopefully
  3. Gorgeous! Looks like the 'Ray version of my Retroactive... Bring it to the bash, oh yes, must have a spank on that
  4. Gorgeous collection Mike. My GF likes your GBs lots Should have the set list stuff to email you later btw...
  5. 4 in my originals band, 5 in the function band
  6. Thanks again for sorting that John, good to talk to ya yesterday! This is gonna be a good bash!

Bought a Fastrack bass Songbook for one of my pupils; excellent service. Cheers Nick!
  8. If I can persuade the missus I'm allowed a night out I'll try to get to the Guildford one
  9.
Not exactly my gig and maybe not really for this thread, but we've just finished rehearsals for the Queen & Paul Rodgers tour (i'm working on it, not playing - unfortunately). We fly off to Ukraine tomorrow for the start of the tour and beyond!. The band were sounding great and it's polished show, so should be a good tour.
Many pics are required methinks! Enjoy
  10. If it only happens with the Trace in your rehearsal room it sounds like you're hitting the room's resonance/getting a standing wave. Try moving the combo around the room.
  11. I've used cocktail sticks and not (yet) had to tighten any screws again. they're a winner
  12. Just remembered another couple, both strangely animal related: 1. had an inflatable pig called Percy onstage with my band called, er, Piglet Clone 2. had two blue monkey toys onstage with my band called, er, freaky blue monkey. Actually, I think the band names are far more embarrassing than the gimmicks.
  13.
The main character in Iain Bank's Espedair Street, Daniel Weir, is a bass player... Jennifer

^ Beat me to it. Excellent book!

Oh yes, I'd forgotten that .. Good book! Some versions of the cover even have a P bass image (which caught my eye and caused me to buy it) but some show that publishers and book designers don't know the difference between a bass and a gu1tar and have given it a Les Paul image..
You all got there first I like that book, tis grand. Shame about the 2nd publishers...
  14. I played this rig at rehearsal last night. Heavy as hell but a gorgous sound. I'm half tempted to not sell... But I need the money and this is the rig which gets less use. So, er, that was all a rather longwinded bump!
  15. That is grand. Makes me want a proper acoustic bass now.
  16.
First reply to all threads about dating basses should always involve someone saying take it somewhere nice.
+1, though you have to warn that the conversation may be a bit wooden.

    Synth pedals

My gf is brilliant. First she says "don't sell that bass rig or bass, you'll regret it later" and then she says "what do you want for your birthday? I have no idea what to get you." So, I have an idea. Up to about £180 to spend apparently, and i fancy a synth pedal. I quite like the EHX Microsynth but wondered if there's anything else that's better for similar dosh? I have next to no clue here coz I don't spend enough time looking into them. I guess the Chunk Systems Octavius Squeezer isn't out yet and is out of my price league?
  18.
There's been some interest on another thread regarding the new Hartke LH500 heads, I've recently acquired one that I could bring along if its not too late to include in the poll, and enough people wanted to have a go?
I've tried adding you but it won't let me. Feck it. I'll ask a mod type person...
  19.
I'll see about bringing the LH500 to the SE bash, if anyone wants a go, depending on transport arrangements
This will incur the wrath of those in the SE bash rigs poll but I'd love to see/hear one...
  20.
Wonder what sort of quality valve they use in it though?
I suppose that is a nice easy thing to change tho. Still dead interested in the LH1000. I was comparing its features to the Ashdown Little Giant (coz both are 2x 500W power amps) but the Ashdown loses on at least three counts: 1. lack of ability to bridge the power amps 2. lack of valve 3. lack of availability still Obviously the Hartke is bigger and heavier but I'd choose it based on "bridgeability" alone. EDIT - yes, I am comparing chalk and cheese, I know!
  21.
there was a Mark Bass 1x15 Jeff Berlin combo on sale here - might still be.
That would be my choice I think
  22. Hmmmmmm..... <Ponders> I know that I need to save a fair bit for my next Status, but it's also not a secret what I want...
  23.
im i right in saying if it goes into the red, it means to turn it down a bit or the speaker will blow?
Nope. It does f*** all if reports are to be believed. It's meant to help set your input gain at the right level (i.e. just below going into the red). It won't blow your speaker the second it goes into the red but you may get some preamp distortion. Most people say it's as helpful as a chocolate teapot tho....
