Love it! How are you getting on with the V-Type? It's my fave bass preamp, so easy to use and sounds grand!
On another note phoned Dawn to find out they are not making anymore Smartbasses.
Really? Shame coz they're a good "cheaper" intro to the world of Status! I just want the 5 string Streamline to be ready for ordering

Si
I'm going straight to a gig after too, should be fun Just paid the Holiday Inn so it's all finalised except for us noisy buggers turning up on the day, hooray! -
oh yeah, that what i meant ;-) How about Jet Are you gonna be my girl? sorry, this has gone way off topic.
Nope, not yet. Is it on our list?! And yes, sorry!
It does seem to be a bit strange but it looks nice and the demo track all seemed to work. I cant believe there is another band still doing I believe in a thing called love still. thought we were the only ones ;-)
We haven't actually PLAYED it for over a year, but if called upon to do it....
Just looked at your website. Like the look of it. The tracks sound good. nice recordings.
Cheers! I'm surprised the website worked, it's generally fooked at the mo and needs a damn good seeing to!
Thanks for asking and i would but i dont drive. I have a rig with each drummer to make life easy.
Ah well. If we do any London gigs that I can't do I'll give you a bell and our drummer can pick you up!
Funny enough Livin on a Prayer is also one of the only few i do note for note. We even did The Final countdown in to Livin once. great laugh (for us anyway).
Nice! Do you fancy doing dep gigs ever, sounds like you have some similar songs going on and are reasonably local? (Sorry for the thread hijack Mewsie btw!)
i could possibly make it down, pending uni stuff, but id be comin by train so i wouldnt be able to bring and amp, probably just my 'ray
Go on, you know you want to! -
When i first joint my covers band i had to learn a lot of songs quickly. Its only recently i have been going back over some of these songs and realising how different my lines are to the original. It doesn't have to be exact (and never is) but it gives me something to do.
Indeed. I think I can count on one finger the number of songs I do (almost) exactly, and that's Livin on a Prayer. Everything else is my interpretation or arrangement or completely different line for a different feel. When we eventually decide to do Valerie, as I'm sure we will, I will have to stop myself nicking your idea (it's OK, I won't!)
I think there was some spat many years ago between Bon Jovi & Belinda Carlisle. They both produced songs with the same bassline and one tried to sue the other. It was thrown out though, as it was purely coincidental.
Livin On A Prayer and Heaven Is A Place On Earth! I like it when we play those two next to each other in the set, means my brain can switch off As for the chart idea, I think it would be awesmoe if we can do it. I have worked out Wake Me Up Before You Go Go and then compared it to some tabs online and the tabs are NOTHING like what I figured out... Thesedays I do a far more simplified version anyway, no-one needs bass histrionics at their wedding!

Your cabs will be wired parallel I imagine. Speak to OBBM about getitng a special lead made up to do series instead
Why don't you come along to the SE Bass Bash in Guildford, it's not too far from Reading. You can see a lot of amps and cabs up close and talk to their owners. That's if you can wait that long. Details below: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=22439&hl=bash

Excellent idea! And much better than going to any shop because there'll be more variety and better 'customer service'..
Yes yes yes. Do that and you'll fall in love with something, guaranteed (Disclaimer - it may not be a bass rig, you may suddenly have a desire for a Shuker/Status/RIM/ACG/Vigier etc etc...) -
Wow. Can I have it?

Trace Elliot V-Type combo and extension cab £500
Merton replied to bassbloke's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Tone is to die for - lovely and warm and serious bottom end. I've used this combo live when my old Hartke head was in for repair and it was great.
Yeah, don't let the 8" speakers fool you, the cab is sealed and there is plenty of low end on its own. Coupled with a 1x15 (especially that Trace one) would sound awesome. I use the ultra-rare 4x8 extension cab with mine and can honestly say it would be a cold day in hell before I find a sound I like more. Plus bassbloke is a top, er, bloke to deal with -

That's exactly why I like the V-Type stuff, the basic "flat" (er, all knobs in the middle, hehe) sound is closest to "my" favoured tone and hence easy to shape

Need a wedding band that doesn't play Mustang Sally
Merton replied to coasterbass's topic in General Discussion
Reading this thread is strangely making me want to dep for a function band. Anyone need a dep for function stuff around Surrey/Hants area?
Possibly! But we don't do Mustang Sally, thank god.
