Flightcasewarehouse.co.uk flightcase, made in 2006 for my Trace AH300-12 head, which I haven't owned for almost a year... Internal Dimensions H14 x D37 x W48cm In pretty good nick really, it's sat in a cupboard unused for about 18 months, since I took the head out of it and used the case as a cunning space-waster. Brand new it was £160, I'm looking for (2009 edit) £35+shipping ono. Pics:
My first wedding gig last night... 1) Arranged with groom to be there at 6pm to give us enough time to set up and sound check - Hotel wouldn't let us in the room till 6:45, did sound check playing 1st number "Aint no snshine" 2) Told by hotel droid that we would have to set up between these two fire doors but not to encroach on egress of doors - 5 piece band on 15ft x 10ft patch of carpet 3) Timings are just a joke at weddings 4) Endless trail of drunken wazzacks trying to ask us to play really sh*t songs while we are still playing These are just a few of the minor irritations we encountered, I can see why we charge a lot more for weddings and parties now
Yup, sounds about right! Hope it went OK other than that?
But being the weirdo that i am, I prefer the 5 string one on the left But then I always fancied the brunnette in ABBA more than the blonde..
Yeah, weirdo! It's ok, I'll polish the Groove and bring that too, just for you -

(EDIT - apologies for the crappy phone pics!) Looks even cooler with the DR Black Beauty strings on it... Not got a decent pic of that at the mo tho. -
Yeah yeah... don't rub it in... Sorry Mert - someone on here was talking about playing your graphite necked bass and wanting to mod a SR, so I got confused. Could you bring your Status though pls?
No worries! Possibly the_house123 (or Mike as he's more commonly known by his parents and friends!) was saying something coz he tried it out on Tuesday when he bought my Trace cab? Tis my pride and joy - the Retroactive J. That will definitely be there -

Perfect! Mike contacted me about my Trace 1x15 cab and had arrived at my flat to buy it about 3 hours later, that's fast! Lovely chap and a good player too (Mike - Buy a Status, buy a Status, buy a Status)

Possibly THE most ridiculous looking thing EVER
But yeah, my mum and dad are the types that like to leave the plastic wrap on to make sure something doesn't get scratched. Didn't work on the kettle when the plastic wrap melted onto the sides of it though...
My gf's dad does that with their remote controls for TV/Sky/DVD etc -

I've always been an "Ashdown is wooly and horrible" person but I did a gig earlier this year where the headline band's bassist was using an ABM 2x10 combo and P-bass. F**k me did it sound good. If I was in the market for a new amp I wouldn't dismiss them quite as quickly as I have done in the past, certainly. But I'm not, I love my V-Types too much
-
2 preamp tubes (12AX7s) and 4 power tubes (KT88s I think?) The 2 preamp tubes are situated behing the gain control (roughly) if the board layout is the same as in my combos.
-
Crank the gain all the way up
-
This is the older V-Type head, single channel, isn't it? (Spoken to you about it on TB!) What bass do you have? Do you plug into the passive input? I get loads of grit from my V-Types (same preamp) by plugigng active basses into the passive input. Otherwise a pedal is the best way to go Mert

Terrible news, he was awesome

Played my first jazz gig for over a year, was fun as some of the tunes I swear I've NEVER played. We weren't the tightest band on some of the endings, some of my improv was crap but generally I think I pulled it off OK. Bit off-putting having a saxophonist in the band who is a far better bassist than me, having a singer who was the former bassist and having at least one bassist watching in the audience. In my "normal" gigs no problem, but jazz really isn't my forte IMO Pic: This was also the first gig I've done with the 4x8 combo - it's only ever had rehearsal use up to now. It sounded AWESOME
I use the tone generator on WinISD Pro, a laptop and a bass amp. 10Hz overnight so the speaker is running beyond 50% of Xmax seems to do a nice job (and you can even do that with it loaded in the cab because it's so far below the tuning frequency you get decent phase cancellation). Alex
Another cunning and obvious answer I should have known! Brain clearly wasn't in gear this morning. Cheers
I know what you mean about the band soc committee stuff many people are really suspicious of the whole thing!
Everyone who isn't in the committee is suspect of the committee. I was on the committee for 3 years and got all sorts of abuse on the bandsoc forum for perceived favouritism which was never there except for in everyone's heads!! Goodricke has changed since I was there, there's that posh new building instead of the old knackered food hall we had...
is there really no interest in this bass? I'd quite like to get rid of it!
I'd love it but I have no money and the good lady would kill me!!
IMHO I'd put a price on it so that people have an idea of what you want for it; I for one am not keen on blind offers and prefer to have an idea of what someone wants
Aye, plus the one
