It was really good to meet up with you Merton; thanks for sorting it out so quickly! Look forward to seeing you again at some point soon, hopefully with that Status Groove 5 tucked under your arm Cheers Nik
Indeedy - next time it shall not be the car park of Tesco's followed by the car park of a pub! (Hope the lunch was OK btw!)
  2.
Is Rob willing to take photos of the build? I didn't ask when I had my S2 made...
I seem to remember he's not to keen, but worth a try!
  3. Nice baffle decor! Trace speakers normally have a sticky sealing stuff, kinda foamy. It'll just be that the speaker has been held so tightly against that for almost 20 years now (probably) that it's well and truly stuck. I had similar fun with a Trace combo with a 15" speaker. Perseverance I'm afraid, and a sharp knife or screwdriver plus careful wedging
  4. Perfect! Just met Nik in person to hand over the two Trace/Celestion drivers, lovely bloke to deal with, nice and simple "transaction". Thanks
  5.
MB1. Grand little box? and Essex girls? on the same reply............................ OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATRON!
LMAO
  6.
Kingston! I'm not bloody surprised. If my parents had called me Kingston I wouldn't have replied either! Sounds like you need to get the Book of Common Rabbit Names (Penguin) and read them out one by one until he responds Or perhaps we should have a Basschat poll? Chris
Good idea. Just don't let the BBC decide
  7.
Big Guns!!! Don't mind a bit of skid row every now and again when I need my hard rock fix. But I way prefer def leppard!
Hooray! Big cheer for 80s mullet rock and Def Leppard! Might have to go dig out some Skid Row now though, haven't listened to them for donkeys years
  8.
PM'd
Sold :-)
  9. 2x 10" 100W 16 ohm speakers from my Trace 2103H cabinet. Replaced last month becasue I thought one was blown, but: 1) I can't remember which one 2) I'm not convinced it ever was the problem as the rattle is still there after all and is a loose handle (search Amps and Cabs for the thread history, yes I'm a tit but I thought I'd checked them) Anythoo, I prefer the Eminence speakers that are in the cab now and these are getting in the way in my new pad. Since one is still definitely OK and I think the other one is too I figured I'd flog 2 for the price of one cheap one, then you may be lucky or you may be REALLY lucky! £17.50 for the pair They're heavy so will cost about a tenner to ship I think.
  10.
Hi, I've just bough an Eden Time Traveller (it's lurvly) and I want to get a case for it (gig bag style rather than a rack) Any suggestions where I can get one? I'm not bothered if it's eden or not as long as it fits - i don't really know where to start looking. it's dimensions are 13"W x 3.5"H x 12"D Eden make them - but US only and they have none in stock Eden Accesories Thanks
What about those Maplin case things everyone was one about a month or so back? I think they'd fit. Here: Maplin Aluminium Case with shoulder strap!

Well I've sold a couple of bits now, selling or giving away a couple more, time to tell me how much of an ass I am!
  13. Sorry guys, only jsut seen these two questions: lobematt - I think the headstock may be an issue colda - yes! First to PM me gets it I guess??
  14. Nothing exciting, just the first one I ever had with my first bass. Fits standard Fender shapes easily. Probably not up to abuse of a flight but good enough for general transporting of bassage. Intersting feature is the hose for a handle coz the original one broke and me and my dad improvised with rope and a garden hose!! Got some stickers on it but nothing offensive
  15.
I think you're all chasing hopes that aren't there, personally. But what do I know?
+1. Admittedly I sold mine cheap for a uick sale but I reckon anywhere between 70 to 100 is fair. You can still very occasionally find 'em on the bay for 75... Joe, btw, cheers for the PM, hopefully it'll pop thru my door tomorrow
  16. Interesting Hard to Handle is credited to the Black Crowes... We find that singalong stuff like Heaven is a Place on Earth, Living on a Prayer and Don't Look Back in Anger work well, bit like the Reef song coz they're "fist pumpers" I guess. We're about to unleash Footloose and Wake Me Up before You Go Go so I'm interested to see how they go down.
  17. Bump for some pics:

    Mr. Foxen

Lovely chap to deal with, hope you enjoy my old Muff
  19.
.... !!!! Hey, if your sticking to the green stuff, then you are still sane! I must say that this is a bit of a bargain!! Buy it!! Will the flight case fit my AH400SMX? I need one desperatly!! I cant remember what your head looked like exactly.. Let us know, and I may have to have it!! Cheers! Matt
Cheers Matt! Unfortunately the flightcase will be too small for the AH400SMX, your head is a bit taller than mine I'm afraid :-(
  20. And so the time came to pass when Merton decided the 12-band was no longer his main weapon of choice and indeed that he needed the cash to spend on his flat. So he ventured forth to Basschat to speak unto the masses and preach the wonders of the amp, thus hoping someone would purchase it for the sum of £275: Trace Elliot AH300-12 Built Jan 2000 afaik, which is right on the cusp of The Gibson Years- I think it means it's Gibson era but probaly built with pre-Gibson era quality and components. it's certainly never let me down except the EL panel Carpet covered, got the proper red and green knobs on Features: Harmonic Emphasis Trace Pre-shape 12-band graphic EQ Valve Drive Dual band Compression Noise Reduction Serial/paralle FX loop with level control Pre/Post EQ DI Tuner out Line out 2x 8-ohm speaker jacks Electroluminescent front panel (mmm green!) 5-way footswitch This is bloody good nick, perfect electrically and cosmetically. The only issues it has are: 1. The EL panel 2. The EL panel. 1. The EL panel isn't original - it's actualy a replacement from a 122H combo. When the original one died, Gav at GM only had the combo ones left and no more have ever been made. 2. THe new EL panel is a bit intermittent, but doesn't affect sound quality at all. Price is £275 including footswitch, excluding delivery Or, for £400 you can have the custom made flightcase for it too. Again, excluding delivery. Reason for the sale? My main amp is the V-Type combo and I love it to bits, this barely gets 2 gigs a year, plus I need the money for my flat. It's so sold it's with it's new owner, hooray!
  21. Power splits evenly vs impedance. So 2x 8ohm cabs would share the pwer. That means if you have a 1x15 and a 2x10, both 8 ohm, the 10s will get 25% of the power each, the 15 will get 50%
  22.
Last night we were at The Crow's Nest in East Grinstead; again it was 1st floor but thankfully, they have a lift which makes a lot of difference when loading out at 1am in the morning!
Oooh, we play there a lot. What's yer band called? Are you on their Facebook page? Have you been loving the fact that everytime you seem to go back there's suddely an extra half hour on their damn licence?!!! Hehe. I think the bar shuts at 1 or 1.30 now. Anyhoo, back OT, I didn't gig this weekend, I moved into my flat and started painting and sorting the little electrical and shower problems!
  23. Yep, my mate's band supported Busted once and saw exactly that happening. As for McFly, I'm embarrassed to admit to auditioning for them. Well, it was an open audition with no band name mentioned so I popped along, thought "ug, pretty boys" and played terribly for 30 seconds (some people got less than that!). Needless to say 6 months later I spat out my coffee when I saw them on TotP for the first time. Close shave.
  24.
Cheers I am probably going for the marshall cos it has the EC38 in there! Gig sizes would be a maximum of 200 I play punk-ska Although...Has any seen or heard a place to get marshall jubilee heads all i really want is the sleeve but the actual head would be nice!
Be the first one on here to get the Marshall and you can tell us all what it's like
