The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Merton replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Not too bad. Certainly a lot better than the TGI bag @dmc79has. Will get a pic a bit later -

Barefaced Price Increase - Are They Still Worth It?
Merton replied to Ultima2876's topic in Amps and Cabs
Absolutely agree in terms of the massive supermarkets, oil companies etc. The petrol prices beggar belief for example. I suspect Barefaced just wouldn’t have been able to survive without these price increases though; more a labour of love than a way to a quick million. -
Barefaced Price Increase - Are They Still Worth It?
Merton replied to Ultima2876's topic in Amps and Cabs
They weren’t the first and won’t be the last to do this. It’s sadly the current state of the world. They are still (imo) fantastic cabs and worth the money if you can afford them. If you can’t afford them or don’t think they’re fantastic, the price rise doesn’t matter -
If you like the 15” NEO, get another one.

Bought an HX Effects from Christian, lovely guy who drove to meet me halfway and insisted on me checking the box had everything in it (clue: it did!). Great guy to deal with

Yesterday’s rig. Bloody marvellous. I’ve been having valve amp pangs recently but using this over the course of 4 sets yesterday reminded me that I have much, much better gear than my talent deserves, and really don’t need glowing glass tubes.

AFAICS the main differences are: 750W power amp Dual VU meters ”Temperature controlled low noise” fan cooling Transformer balanced DI Er, that’s it.

I suspect so! Be interesting to see what else is on there, and how much it is given the Evo V is … a lot!

Nope, that is something else I think. I’m not sure I’m supposed to know so Just don’t Mention I said anything…. Maybe pretend I was in a Theatre of Dreams making this up 🤓

A signature amp for someone.

This to me is the equivalent of calling “shotgun” when getting into a car. I now call dibs on @Bunion’s amp 😁😅
-
Just sell me your current one and then you have an excuse 😁

Also very interested to see how this develops @eude and I (and many others to be fair) own ACGs with 32" or shorter scale lengths with excellent bottom B strings :0 For me Newtone and LaBella seem to have the medium and short scale string science sorted; that along with the construction of the neck and neck/body join are the key things I think.

Not sure they can be bridged I’m afraid

Best gigbag-friendly mini amp as backup in case of main amp issues
Merton replied to Clarky's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have an Elf as a back up and couldn’t be happier with it. The core tone is wonderful and it can get loud. A few years ago I was depping for a loud rock band in a pub in London and due to the slightly annoying load in decided to leave my ABM in the car and use the Elf and a single Super Compact. I didn’t have PA support but the amp coped and sounded wonderful. There wasn’t really any headroom to go louder if we had gotten to that stage but it filled the pub room with the single Barefaced cab mighty impressively. -
Is there a general amp stock shortage? (Other than Mesa)
Merton replied to fretmeister's topic in Amps and Cabs
The ABM isn’t all tube… it has a valve in the preamp but is 100% solid state apart from that -
This is very 80s and very cool (IMVHO!)

This is interesting indeed 😀
